7 years since and everytime I listen to this song, I still get goosebumps. My admiration for Hans has only gone higher especially with songs to movies like Angels and Demons, The Da Vince Code, Interstellar and The Dark Knight Rises !! Keep up the good work Hans !
dmravi13 ideologi of yours: no fuck, mozart is better because he lived for 600000milion years ago. Dude, what Zimmer is doing...mozart and Beethoven incl all those musicans together wudnt manage to do today. Your just to much after to be able to understand what Zimmer is doing :)
dmravi13 lets say to mr smart here that not everybody care about grammar since were not in an english class right now. 2, the whole world doesnt speak english as a main language. 3, why dont you answer my question and jump over to my language? It properly shows how low you are, how downed you got and by which organ youre thinking. Lets say, come speak swedish/norwegian/spanish/persian very properly with and lets see who does it better? I can speak your language but you dont know a word on my languageS. Please think with your brain b4 you post and try to lower someone hahaha.
***** I'm aware the whole world doesn't speak English. In fact, for your information, English isn't even my first language (yeah, would you like some ice on that?). What I'm trying to tell you is - if you're going to write in English, do it properly or write in your own language. Oh and by the way, shitty English or not, John Williams is so much better than Hans Zimmer, it's almost painful. For every good track from Hans Zimmer, John Williams has five amazing tracks. Now I'm not saying Zimmer is bad, it's just that comparing him to Williams is like comparing someone who is good at running to an Olympic athlete.
@jhosioja on it being subjective, would you say that Zimmer is better than Mozart? If music is subjective on the interpreter? I do like some of Zimmer score, dark Knight trilogy is good, In my opinion Hans Zimmer music has no variety. Inception, Dark Knight, and Man of Steel all sound like they can belong in one movie score. You might disagree, but no one has pointed to me the big differences between his scores. To me those who compare Zimmer to Williams fall under the same category of those who would compare Zimmer to Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, and Stravinsky. But like you said it is subjective, no?
No variety? While I thoroughly disagree with the idea that Man of Steel and Inception could fit in the same score, I agree that those three soundtracks have some similar aspects. But you can't just pick 3 and then say he has no variety. What about Kung Fu Panda, Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean, Lion King, Sherlock Holmes, The Amazing Spiderman 2, Rush, Madagascar, Rango, and The Simpson's movie? I could go on for ages. All very different soundtracks from Inception, Dark Knight and Man of Steel. On the other hand, John Williams (who I also love btw) has far less versatility in his history. He does a LOT of adventure and fantasy movies, with memorable themes. Which are great, but when he does stray from such, it's almost never too great. He works almost entirely with the same tools on every project. Can you imagine if he did the soundtrack to the dark knight? The entire score would just be an orchestra, again. Meanwhile Zimmer is programming his own sounds from scratch and using razor blades on strings. Who you prefer is subjective, but you can't tell me Zimmer isn't as versatile as John Williams, that's just strange.
"Because he's the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dark knight."
@Dondochino Zimmer is good, Williams is still alot better. Williams resume is un matched Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Superman, Home Aline, Hook, Jaws, Indiana Jones, Schilndlers List, E.T, Saving Private Ryan, Harry Potter series, and no to forget he wrote the Olympics theme.
Different styles, and Williams has had a longer career.. seems "just a bit" pointless to compare who's better, unless you can actually point out techniques that are inferior. Both always get the tone of a movie perfectly, regardless of the quality of the movie... which music you like to listen to more on the other hand, is entirely subjective.
I love Hans Zimmer..but lets not forget about James Newton Howard people! It's kind of sad he always gets overshadowed by Zimmer, but I feel JNH's work was just as great(especially in Batman Begins). His mark was definitely missing in TDKR..Nonetheless, two greats working together to make even greater music.
Hans Zimmer GRANDE,GENIAL,UNICO,cada banda sonora un éxito que la academia de los OSCARS,no tiene en cuenta por ignorancia.La banda sonora de El Caballero Oscuro su mejor obra maestra
Yes, it is a more electronic version of the same piece that plays in the last 5 minutes of Dark Knight Rises. In TDKR, Hans uses more live orchestra while in this piece, he is using a lot of electronic synthesizers, keyboards etc.
The video absolutely perfectly captures the emotions of the batman movies..it's complexity and conflict. Batman stands for good, fights for good, with a sinister side and a willingness to get a bit dirty while doing so.
Hans did compose some of the biggest movie scores, but John composed a lot more high profile moves like Star Wars, Jaws, Indiana Jones, Schindlers List, ET and many more, no one can compare
Most of the themes, yes, but I don't recall that choir neither on the movie nor the soundtracks (and I had them all). As you say, it might have been played at a different tempo.
amazing. This video should have an epilepsy warning at the beginning though. Hopefully the uploader can add a caption or something at the beginning so people are aware.
That's the song name. Probably you should listen the soundtrack first before comment. But I actually wrote it wrong, it's A Dark Knight, not I am Batman.
It's like comparing Apples and Oranges. They are both very different and cannot be compared. You can't hum Zimmer tunes, whereas Williams tunes just "stick" in your head and are hummable. Zimmer is brilliant when it comes to marrying music to picture--he is genius in capturing the mood of a film with music. Williams is classically trained and his technical approach to music far surpasses that of Zimmer. Each has his own area of specialization. I don't think now is the time to conclude who is better. 20 years from now, we'll see (if we're alive) whose music has stood the test of time.
***** I disagree, I can instantly hum Pirates of the Caribbean, Sherlock Holmes, and many other zimmer themes. You're right though, his are less catchy. I think Zimmer is the better FILM composer, but Williams may be the better composer period.
@Spoderman and Hook, Jurassic Park, Home Alone, Superman and the freaking Olympics. Zimmer is good but like you said John Williams is the best. John is the goat!
1 Genius + 1 Genius + 1 Genius = this show!
I LOVE this theme. LOVE it.
there are more lens flares in this than in a jj abrams movie
All these song will be for our chills classic music. Thank you for all these songs. Awesome.
3:42 don't recall this choir until "Rise" in The Dark Knight Rises. So this is where it came from...
7 years since and everytime I listen to this song, I still get goosebumps. My admiration for Hans has only gone higher especially with songs to movies like Angels and Demons, The Da Vince Code, Interstellar and The Dark Knight Rises !! Keep up the good work Hans !
hans zimmer is a beast

Hans zimmer is better than Williams and you went far by saying that?
Kid, Hans Zimmer is better than Mozart and Beethoven together.
You must be trolling...

So Ryeland Allison is doing the drum and Martin Tillman on electric cello?
@Dondochino Zimmer is good, Williams is still alot better. Williams resume is un matched Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Superman, Home Aline, Hook, Jaws, Indiana Jones, Schilndlers List, E.T, Saving Private Ryan, Harry Potter series, and no to forget he wrote the Olympics theme.

Yeah same.

nah Hans is only just better considering he did inception batman, man of steel etc but John is brilliant
Virus - yeah you did ;)
I'd even go as far as saying Zimmer is better than Williams. Inception soundtrack alone is a piece of genius!
It's like comparing Apples and Oranges. They are both very different and cannot be compared. You can't hum Zimmer tunes, whereas Williams tunes just "stick" in your head and are hummable.

Hollywood Perfection what a great composer keep up with the great work Hans Zimmer
Taiko in real life. VST equivalent, east west quantum leap's storm drums? maybe.
what does he use to make the synth bass sounds? I've always wanted to know.
James Newton Howard composed the Dark Knight with Zimmer
The Oblivion soundtrack sounds kinda close to this !!!
I agree- because Oblivion came later, it was Oblivion that copied Dark Knight.
why this doesn't have more views is beyond me, fantastic performance
You forgot about John Williams, John will always be the greatest
