americans didn't have 300hp+ cars during the 1980s because of the oil crisis
yes agreed, the V8 were underpowered at this time.
american people who know car at this time were driving Merco, Volvo or Beemer !! Only muscle cars or personnal cars were interesting in the US market. They had some big V8 had less power than lawnmowers at this time and handling like boats in waves.
Looks like this 300E is in really good shape. The engine makes good power and the transmission shifts quickly.
Sounds like a wheel bearing is gone though, or something else is giving a pretty loud non-healthy low booming sound.
So old and still so quick and quiet. This is build like a tank.
One of the man reasons why I like w124 series is, very tough body.
My grandpa has the exact same one but without a turbo. It has 114 HP and over 600.000 km and its very good still.
35 years old and still incredible smooth and fast.
this car was/is such a smooth glider, realy a special behavin ! one of my best cars I driven - twice the back in time !! 😘🥰👍🏁🤞🍀
Stable as rock
Speed as rocket
Beautiful as W124 ❤
I had the same car and color interior etc. Mine best car ever!! 300E
Got my old 300E stick shift up to 230 indicated once, around 220kmh GPS
Are they reliable? I'm gunning for a 300ce from 88'
@@meezymarx1755 factory top speed was 225kmh according to the handbook, mine was a 1985 catless (141kw) and had the 5 speed with a long rear diff ratio, technically the top speed could be reached in 4th, but on a slight downhill it had around 4700rpm on 5th with 230 indicated speed. If you are going to attempt, i would suggest checking the play and grease on the wheel bearings before, just to be sure :)
@@meezymarx1755 and the reliability is very dependent on the previous owners. Rustproofing is a must if you live in a place where there's winter. Ke-jetronic is a reliable unit if the filters have been changed regularly and the wiring is ok. Some of rhe early model M103's had a problem with camshaft wear, but i reckon all of them have been replaced in a recall when the vehicle was under warranty.
That interior color is so sick
i HAD ONE just like this. I drove it through beverly Hills. I drove into a Unocal gas Station. The Mechanic as a german. He said, "that is a Sexy car."
Wow that shifts big time, amazing.
Ohja ein wunderschönes Auto der 300er. Ich habe auch noch einen stehen leider etwas viel Rost dran. Aber vor 10 Jahren hat er sehr viel spaß gemacht der 300 TE den ich habe.
