Both cars are great. The Camry has been a mainstay for years. But the Hyundai Sonata has made great strides over the years and they're killing it with their new vehicles lately. Can't beat the warranty either.
The Camry is an astounding car and that is coming from someone that owns a W211 E350 and E92 328 Stage 1 coupe. I drove a 2022 over 2000kms through Vermont, New Hampshire and Upstate NY and was utterly relaxed, comfortable and in control The car handled the twisting notches of Vermont with confidence, carved tight backroads with minimal body roll, had enough power to do passing maneuvers at 75mph+ and on top of that, got incredible fuel economy. At elevation and sustained speeds of 70+mph, I saw 30mpg continuously, even touching 35mpg.. The seats were unbearably comfortable, on par with the best BMW thrones, the tech worked flawlessly and the transmission was quick reacting and unobtrusive. Even the engine sounded good, for a 4 cylinder and power was more than adequate even driving spiritedly and through the Green and White Mountains where elevations push 1200m+. Lastly, the base sound system was completely satisfactory. The JBL would be a good deal better, I'm sure but as someone who has the HK in the Mercedes and a tweaked Logic 7 in the E92, the Camry's audio quality was inoffensive and totally acceptable. I would buy one in a heartbeat!
The Camry looks awesome and the Sonata looks alright. I like the interior led blue light glowing in the Camry. Feels cool. But Sonata is my most favorite not by speed or look but I love and focus more on the tech and features it has. Also the moon roof. Sonata Limited is my dream car.
As a guy who isn't as keen on modern advancements, I prefer the Camry. I own a 2020 Camry SE and love it. Stylish, good enough power when needed, spacious, and I know it'll last forever.
One of these Camry XSE pulled up next to me while I was getting gas. The exhaust was only coming out of the inside pipes and not the outside ones. The outside ones are blocked off.
What I call level 2 fake exhaust haha. Level 1 is where the exhaust pipe just feeds into a bumper outlet (BMW X5). Level 3 is the new trend of having completely fake plastic exhaust shapes where the actual exhasut tip points straight down before the bumper
I'm a pretty big Hyundai fan -- from the early 2000s. It's nice to see what they are doing now, although I miss the simplicity of their older cars. That said, if / when Toyota makes a Camry with AWD it could be a gamer changer. Aside from Subaru, with their CVTs, you really can't get an AWD sedan unless you go into the luxury market. Although I suppose the new Mazda3 would be an exception to that (in the compact category). Anyway, it's great to see this trend. I really love AWD -- don't think I can ever go back to FWD or RWD only. I live in the rainy pacific northwest and don't like one-wheel-peels when I take off. And AWD is a nice option for going up into the mountains (for skiing) or out into the state parks (for shooting guns). hehe.
This is too late, but the Ford Fusion has been available with AWD and heated steering wheel (in Titanium Package). My wife drives a 2015 so equipped. My search criteria were: 4 door sedan, AWD, heated seats/steering wheel, and red color. It having 4 cyl ecoboost w/ 220 HP is a bonus. Will need to replace in 2021 with same spec. Good to hear the camry will offer it, as she drove a camry for 8 years before the fusion and liked it (but it had the 6 cyl.)
I really appreciate finally having some car reviewers that make excellent (and accurate) tech related jokes. Whether that's due to James being exactly the same age as me (meaning part of the last generation to have a childhood that wasn't [likely to be] dominated by screens), or if it's just coincidental that James and Thomas are very tech oriented and sufficiently knowledgeable and up-to-date on the subject, but it is so refreshing for me as someone that has only in the last 3-4 years discovered a latent passion for cars that I've kind of known I had all along, but that I didn't explore because of a misplaced/incorrect prejudiced views of car culture that I inherited from my parents.
It's an option. Which is why Hyundai is better. Toyota has always being known to be stingy with features. Have to pay more to get more. Wheras Hyundai you don't have to pay a lot of money to get certain features.
Good review, Folks! Toyota really killed the design with this last generation. I am even suprised that I said that. If the cars are so similar, i would definitely choose Camry because it holds value unbelievably!
The Sonata is very upscale and feature packed. It drives really really nicely and I cant wait for the N-Line with over 100 more hp (at least 290) and over 100 more tq (at 310). Hyundai has been upping its game with features and quality interiors!
the sonata n line makes much more sense compared to the dumbass camry TRD. the camry TRD is an all show no go car. practically little to no performance enhancements, other than its ugly ass cosmetic mods
Thank the 2 BMW engineers at the Hyundai Motor Group as they are giving the Germans a decent run for their money. Years ago I never thought I would say "They are killing it ,Well done keep making excellent cars ".
For some reason the 2020 Sonata Limited for the US doesn’t have rear heated seats. No idea why Canada versus US is different when they’re made at the same factory and the northern states have the same colder climate...

8:20 that estate Sonata looked very sick. 😍
Looks way better like James said
The Camry looks awesome and the Sonata looks alright. I like the interior led blue light glowing in the Camry. Feels cool. But Sonata is my most favorite not by speed or look but I love and focus more on the tech and features it has. Also the moon roof. Sonata Limited is my dream car.
I cant wait for Hyundai to release the Sonata N
These guys have the right chemistry. They understand timing and humor.
As a guy who isn't as keen on modern advancements, I prefer the Camry. I own a 2020 Camry SE and love it. Stylish, good enough power when needed, spacious, and I know it'll last forever.
It's a phenomenal car
These guys actually pronounce "Hyundai" (H-yunnn-day) correctly, kudos.
People calling hyunday High - un - die makes me die a bit inside :p
Aequitas The guy driving it pronounced it Hin-day. The other guy pronounced it the most accepted way, Hun-day.
Hee-yun-die sounds way better
Is it day or di at the end
Not really 😉
One of these Camry XSE pulled up next to me while I was getting gas. The exhaust was only coming out of the inside pipes and not the outside ones. The outside ones are blocked off.
What I call level 2 fake exhaust haha. Level 1 is where the exhaust pipe just feeds into a bumper outlet (BMW X5). Level 3 is the new trend of having completely fake plastic exhaust shapes where the actual exhasut tip points straight down before the bumper
Dual pipes, quad tips. It's funny coz in Australia I believe the outside ones are real and the inner ones are fake
And AWD is a nice option for going up into the mountains (for skiing) or out into the state parks (for shooting guns). hehe.
2021 Toyota Camry and Avalon are confirmed to bring AWD
AWD camry coming up in a few months, 20 model, and 21 Avalon closer to the end of the year
AWD Camry only a 4 cyl
This is too late, but the Ford Fusion has been available with AWD and heated steering wheel (in Titanium Package). My wife drives a 2015 so equipped. My search criteria were: 4 door sedan, AWD, heated seats/steering wheel, and red color. It having 4 cyl ecoboost w/ 220 HP is a bonus. Will need to replace in 2021 with same spec. Good to hear the camry will offer it, as she drove a camry for 8 years before the fusion and liked it (but it had the 6 cyl.)
Show Me What I Need To Know I feel the same way, except about the Accord. If the Accord was an AWD 2.0T I would stop leasing BMW’s and buy an Accord.
James is probably the only car reviewer on UA-cam to actually pronounce "Hyundai" correctly.
It’s crazy how much these regular everyday passenger cars have stepped up compared to the same cars 10 years ago.
"solid" vs "playful" - had the same dillema with women
10
"Hands on the wheel Thomas..." lmao
Kind of funny that James got the year we get the new Camry right on just a random riff
this is my new favourite moto channel!THX Guys! great Videos:)
Doesn’t the Camry with a head up display on some models
Yah it does
Yea it does
Yea I believe the V6 comes standard with it
The 2020 Limited 1.6T has a HUD.
It's an option. Which is why Hyundai is better. Toyota has always being known to be stingy with features. Have to pay more to get more. Wheras Hyundai you don't have to pay a lot of money to get certain features.
Camry for me, but i do like some of the tech in the sonata.
I love both of these cars. Toyota Camry is beautiful and so is the Hyundai Sonata. I would get both of them if I could.
Greatest intro I've seen for a car channel, 100000000
.... love the way ... James treats cars ...a real ... Londoner ... polite / classy / elegant
Wait till y'all see the Sonata N-line.
can't wait
the sonata n line makes much more sense compared to the dumbass camry TRD. the camry TRD is an all show no go car. practically little to no performance enhancements, other than its ugly ass cosmetic mods
If a Santa Fe N-line comes out with around 400hp, I will be the first that buys it. I love it
Thank the 2 BMW engineers at the Hyundai Motor Group as they are giving the Germans a decent run for their money. Years ago I never thought I would say "They are killing it ,Well done keep making excellent cars ".
Funny hearing James pronounce Hyundai Hee-In-Day. Thanks for reviewing cars that normal people have a shot at. Happy New Year to all!
Not sure what’s going on at Hyundai and Kia but quality and designs of their cars have been going up i credibly in last few years.
Hobbyman TV, they are nice but only if their cheap.
There’s only one way to go from the bottom.
For some reason the 2020 Sonata Limited for the US doesn’t have rear heated seats. No idea why Canada versus US is different when they’re made at the same factory and the northern states have the same colder climate...
Cody Reed because you us people deserved limited shit. 😂😂😂
Yeah that is a strange omission but I don't care cuz I live in Canada
Because it doesnt get that cold in the US. Canada is always in snow, I think their summer is 1 month long. Lol
My 2017 Sonata Limited has rear heated seats, along with heated and cooled front. I just looked at the web site and it doesn't mention rear heated seats but i'm sure it has them.
@@sliknik1025 no the"new* 202 sonata US version does not have it
My dad has the v6 xse with the panaramic sun roof
Definitely more a luxury Car it’s beautiful
@@jayd2954 until u sit in a 5 series interior
A pano roof is standard on the v6 XSE and xle.
But I have the 2020 XSE v6 silver black roof red interior. Absolutely love it 😍
Naveen Krishnamurthy yes I know and I love the knew 2020 look lucky you
GodKing804 don’t be a moron, 5 series costs a lot more. For the price, Camry has a lot of luxury.
LION KING BROTHER!!!! U GUYS ARE AWESOME !!!! KEEEP THAT GOING NEED TO DO MORE DISNEY BEATS LMAO !!! 👍👍😁😁😊😊😊
I'd rather have the Sonata. I may be a little bit bias though lol since I've had 3 Hyundai's. It's the Reliability, Technology and looks for me.
