    Georgetown used to be called the garden city of the Caribbean, but no more. The canals used to be constantly dredged and weeded, and were free of garbage. People started using the canals as garbage dumps, the government stopped cleaning the canals, and some were even converted to roadways. WHAT YOU SEE IS THE RESULT. Don't blame it on the weather , blame the geniuses who made those decisions .

    Compare to recent flood I've seen in the islands 🌴 Guyana flood water is the cleanest. In others places watering is so muddy. The view is awesome. Guyana is truly beautiful.

    Thanks for the tour. Guyana with its new found wealth should put up massive pumps to deal with this issue. Not healthy at all with all the dirty water from the drains coming up all over plus the trash. It is a solvable issue that needs to be addressed seriously.

    Would be nice if the government put back the railways. Also build highways to Brazil and Venezuela, ferries to Surinam. These things could increase tourism. Guyana used to be very clean and beautiful under the British rule. An airport in Berbice would be a good thing as well. Just my suggestions. Thanks for sharing and the great work you are doing. 💞💞💞💞💞🎅🎅🎅

    We have lots of hardworking people . Lovely homes , nice vehicles , nice Buildings on a whole. We need to do something collectively to prevent our homes and businesses from being flooded out. Climate change is affecting the entire world, but we who are able bodied should start cleaning our drains , I decided to keep my Town's Reserve land and drain around my fence clean after losing my wall to carpets , Stove, Refrigerator , Music Set, furniture to a flood. Danny thank you so much , your love for your fans is Amazing, I am happy you were able to cover this vlog which looked so dangerous.

    A third of The Netherlands is below sea level, the lowest being 6.7 metres. Yet that country does not flood. Guyana's coastline is a mere 1.5 metres below sea level at its lowest. This is what happens when governments don't know what their priorities are. This is what years of neglect, incompetence and corruption look like.

    • @xivicationx
      @xivicationx 3 роки тому +3

      i live in the Netherlands, yes Netherlands have one of the best if not the best in water management system in the world when it comes to sea and rivers issues, but yet when it comes to rain there can be also flood problems in Netherlands, let alone 3 day's of heavy rain as what happed in Guyana, corruption is a worldwide issue, but in other countries the authorities will say we have some complications with the project it gone cost millions or billions more money and most people won't consider it as corruption.

    • @bibimohamed3179

    • @josephwinslow7613

      No, this is what happens when you are a poor country with less than 1 million people which does a source of taxes for the government to finance programs or projects. So, Guyana, had to go begging for loans from foreign banks and countries to take on projects to improve Guyana, especially, since we such a large country compare to our population. But thank due to oil find ( black gold ), Guyana would or should be able to do all of those things that you and others are crucifying them for not being to do.

      As the mayor of georgetown said,the previous government give them 75 million,while the present government give them 2 million,this is what causes this a government that neglect its duties,this is what happen when the government business friends will not pay the taxes,so the treasury is low many of the big business men is friends with this corrupt government so the allow them not to pay their taxes.

    Guyana is a beautiful country with many untouched forest. I have fond memories when I lived there from 4 years old until I was 7 years old. If and when the situation in Guyana improves I would not hesitate to consider buying a vacation/retirement home there. That was a nice drone shot of Georgetown. Denny, is it possible to do a video of the Public Hospital inside and out, particularly the old Doctor’s Flat where we lived? Perhaps also the old location of the Stella Maris School when it used to be by the Umana Yana? From the front of the school you could see the Pegasus Hotel and Umana Yana. I used to watch from my school when they were building the Umana Yana in 1972. If you can I really appreciate it. If not possible thanks anyway. Keep up the great videos. It brings tears to my eyes seeing places I recognize from when we lived there.

    Thank you for sharing this video of what happens when incompetent governments fail the people and people fail to BASIC SERVICES. This is the result of not maintaining the infrastructure and not providing for the proper collection and disposal of garbage. I grew up in Georgetown and can recall a time when there was efficient pick up of garbage and it was taken to the incinerator for burning. That’s when Georgetown lived up to its name as the Garden City. Once those ESSENTIAL services stopped, citizens had no proper way to dispose of their garbage. Guyanese for the most part I believe are prideful people. There was no problem back when the Government and City Council took their fiduciary seriously. Years of neglect and incompetence yielded this disaster. And as always when Governments fail their people because of CORRUPTION, GREED and NEGLIGENCE the most impacted as in this example are those hard working Guyanese who just want an opportunity to make a living and survive. Linden.

    • @ITSOURLIFEARD
      @ITSOURLIFEARD  3 роки тому +1

      Some of the Guyanese people are to be blamed as well for their contribution of garbage disposal all around the streets park’s trenches roadways etc Guyanese needs to start disposing of their garbage in a proper manner rather than tossing it out the car window. Definitely government needs to do more as well.

    The great flood of 2020. It's partially due to poor drainage system in the city, climate chang with more bad weather, and the fact that the land is below sea level so drainage is more difficult. I was wondering if the people on foot and biking should have to worry about power lines coming in contact with the standing water and electrifying the water

    Thanks for your video! Those that live abroad can see the heavy floods that is beyond normal for Guyana. Guyana use to have some heavy floods in Georgetown years ago and from time to time in the “May, June” season but never to this extent. Especially in November when It’s not the rainy season. This is the worse floods and highest water level Guyana ever had, it looks like a smaller version of Louisiana in USA when the levy broke. That’s what this reminds me of. It’s not good for the infrastructure of the buildings and homes. It can weaken the foundation and eventually cause homes to fall down. This is a serious crisis that must be dealt with now before it’s too late. It’s going to happen again and again and you don’t know if the level would be much much higher. Climate change in the atmosphere is causing signs and wonders. Thanks my friend. You are my favorite guy, God Bless you and your family, I’m a subscriber and enjoy all of your shows, you’re the best and so genuine and down to earth. Love you❤️🙏

    Thank you so much for keeping me and so many others up to date with the situations there. I'm sadden that Guyanas people are dealing with this on top of covid! I really do hope the flooding clears up soon. May I ask if there's a proper drainage system in place or is that something that is still needed? I can't imagine what the home owners are dealing with. I would fear the mold that comes with these situations, that to can be a very serious health hazard. Much love from a Canada 🇨🇦 oh and by the way here we are warned about all the wipes people put in the toilet that clogs and damages the pumps if they are not cleared out...those wipes for babies bums and makeup are the worse thing to flush in the toilet!

    I never seen so much flooding in GT. I left in the 80's. The drainage would have to be updated and that takes alot of taxes to build out. GT is below sea level so good drainage is vital... God help Guyana..
