I’m glad my mom died is certainly not an easy book to get through but I listened to the audiobook and I honestly think it’s the best nonfiction book I’ve ever read. Her writing is amazing and I ended up listening to the whole thing in one afternoon while I was cleaning my house because I simply couldn’t put it down. 10/10 recommend
I feel so icky about myself because IN MY OPINION isn't this the most basic, uninspired list?? Booktok for all it's blessings has shaped the book recommendations into such a bland, luke-warm valley of YA and problematic romances.
Agree. But hopefully those who start reading due to this “I identify as a reader” BookToc movement will grow and progress into mature consumers of great literature and truly entertaining fiction. All reading, even complete trash, generally improves one’s vocabulary at least. It’s always nice when someone finds a few new nouns and adjectives beyond “bro” and “f*ck”.
No, I loved it too! But maybe you have to be in a specific mindset for it to hit tbh because my friend recently read it and showed me her fav quotes and I looked over them like 🤨😶 probably a "right place, right time" book lol
The quips in this video are top tier. I can’t count how many times I audibly laughed, but I do know this made folding laundry infinitely more enjoyable.👌Thank you for another great video!!
calling the song of achilles full of psuedo profound quotes is so on point because why did i go into it expecting to be deeply emotionally impacted and finished it feeling like i had read a bunch of pinterest quotes stitched together
I love watching videos like this where you tear apart some of my faves (tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow, lessons in chemistry, song of achilles, malibu rising) but you still manage to make me agree with your points 😭
I think I'm the only person who didn't like The Silent Patient. Unlikeable characters and too many were used as red herrings. And the twist was not all that surprising to me. I almost DNF’d it a few times and I wish I had.
It makes me so happy to see that someone else hated The Perfect Marriage!! Everyone in my book club loved it, but I couldn't find one thing to enjoy in that book 😂
I thought the midnight library was really beautiful and I cried after listening to the beginning part before she ends up at the library. Maybe it was a little dragged out but I feel like it's definitely a book that hits harder if you've been through what the main character went through.
Brave little toasters unite!! You know it's a Chan video when you're laughing out loud for almost the entire hour. Already excited for Chanmus! Thanks for the great content!!
I literally just finished The Perfect Marriage the other night and am so glad I’m not the only one enraged by this book!!! This was the book I chose to get back into reading after a slump, and let me tell you the disappointment I had in that ending 😡😩😩 It did get me back into reading though, because now I want to read as many books as I can to push that one out of memory..
I’m so glad someone else said that Song of Achilles has flat characterization bc that alone made me rank the book lower than I wanted to. I didn’t even know how old they were supposed to be until a third of the way through the book and I feel like I knew more about Achilles than the actual narrator of the story.
Lol I actually really enjoyed The Perfect Marriage. It was a super quick read for me and I liked that it wasn’t super complex. There were definitely plot points that didn’t make sense but overall I had a good time reading it!
Love hearing your thoughts on books! Not many I have the same taste as me so I appreciate you as I can trust your opinion. Thank you! Plus, made it to the end of the video 😂 🎉
Ok literally your thoughts match mine exactly on all these books (the ones I did read)! SO happy I found your channel... sick of hearing how much people love books like Lessons in Chemistry, The Song of Achilles, and Seven Husbands lol. And you helped me better express why those books bothered me so much! The only thing I disagree with you on so far is Kristen Hannah! The Great Alone was one of my favorite books of all time and I also enjoyed The Winter Garden (though def a bit slow). So excited to watch more of your videos :)
Thank you thank you thank you. So many of your thoughts are how i felt about these popular books and it was getting to feel like i was the only one who saw these things.
As a 22 year old, the inheritance game got me back into reading a couple years back. I liked the first book bc you don’t really need to think and it’s just kinda fun. The two books after were shit though. Really could have been condensed into 1, MAYBE 2 books
I read It ends with us that book broke my soul i cried reading this book like it ripped my heart out n i also read im glad my mom died n after reading this i cant look at icarly the same again like i loved this book it was such a fantastic book
I told my daughter that I listened to it ends with us and she said that it does and she left my life. I love her and she’s gone. Life is so weird you could just mention an audiobook title and someone leaves your life💔😪
You are the best. I was having a horrible day mental health wise but this video made me laugh and put a huge smile on my face. Some of your comments killed me "a hole in the ground to bury himself in"😂 Thank you! Always love your videos.
im so refreshed by your opinion on song of achilles bc ive tried reading it so many times (in fact, i saw her at the Dallas Museum of Art when she was doing a book tour back when she published and bought the book then) but i just cant get into it.
I really appreciate you speaking out about the books that glamorize abuse. And making the reader feel stupid! Like yeah, maybe I could have figured it out if you had actually given me the clues... Love all your quips. Will be following for more!
I looove these videos cause we have so many similar opinions (even though i love ch and tjr). Can't wait to read the ones you've recommended that I haven't yet read!
This is the first video I see from you, I am not really into any of the books I think (I have specific taste) but I’m in LOVE with your talking speed. Even tho I’m not really interested in what happens in these books it’s incredibly pleasing just listening to you.
Awesome video and I even if I haven’t read most of the books on the list I will probably check out the ones that you did recommend and maybe the Taylor Jenkins Reid books that you mentioned.
I couldn't make it through The Fine Print, I was just bored and ended up DNFing. Unfortunate bc that concept sounds right up my alley. Gonna give Lauren Asher's Dirty Air series a try though, maybe I'll like that one!
I loved The Housemaid (1000x better than The Maid with a similar book cover), I’m Glad My Mom Died, and Song of Achilles. I really liked The Midnight Library too as a chronically depressed person lol, but I noticed that my not chronically depressed friends in my book club didn’t like it. So only pick it up on your way to the pharmacy for Prozac I guess lol. Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow was just ok (def agree I feel bad for Sam, and Sadie sucks). I thought I’d be more into it as a former wannabe animator, but it didn’t land as well as I’d hoped. I did not enjoy Daisy Jones and the Six at all. I didn’t like the format of different narrators, and honestly I already don’t remember most of it despite reading it recently. I only finished it out of obligation and apparently have already blocked it out lol. Once again I thought I’d be more into it as I’ve always dreamed of being in a band, but the book was bland.
Love on the brain is my fav Ali Hazelwood book for sure! Was a bit disappointed in the recent release from her because of how much I loved love on the brain 🩷
Ok instant subscribe for me. I have read most of these books and you are spot on! I agreed with everything you said. Except for Verity. Although I don't love CH I did quite enjoy Verity. How can that be? Seriously, its weird. Now I'm going to go watch the rest of your videos and find decent book to read. Thanks!
Thank gawd I'm not the only one who didn't like Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow. I hated Sadie. I felt so bad for Sam. I agree with your whole review of it
I tried to read The Silent Patient *sooooooooooooo* many times, but I just can't ever seem to finish it...or even get past the first couple of chapters. It's just so *goddamn* boring!

Ty❤
Thank you!!
I like The silent patient, but I disliked the Maidens.
Chandler list videos are where happiness begins tbh
I’m glad my mom died is certainly not an easy book to get through but I listened to the audiobook and I honestly think it’s the best nonfiction book I’ve ever read. I feel so icky about myself because IN MY OPINION isn't this the most basic, uninspired list?? Booktok for all it's blessings has shaped the book recommendations into such a bland, luke-warm valley of YA and problematic romances.
I feel that way too dw, it's not just you 😭 luckily no one has yet broken into my house and put a gun to my head to read them lol
i mean its the most popular books so them being basic kinda makes sense 😅
Think I’m the only one in this comment section that loved The Song of Achilles so much 🥺 regardless, loved hearing your opinions on all these books.
No, I loved it too! But maybe you have to be in a specific mindset for it to hit tbh because my friend recently read it and showed me her fav quotes and I looked over them like 🤨😶 probably a "right place, right time" book lol
I loved it but I'm a mythology girlie so to be honest, I don't think I would have picked it up if I wasn't
I listened to that book in like a day, I loved it. I'm a historical book nerd and also loved the Percy Jackson series and I sobbed at the end
I thought it was absolutely brilliant ❤
i have only read The song of Archilles out of the whole list
the perfect marriage is the ONLY 1 star i've ever given out. honestly shocked so many people love it.
Hated that book
Such a bad book! I swear people are being paid to give high scores on that one.
Absolutely terrible!
I agree 100% with your review of The Perfect Marriage. It hurts to think of the time I wasted reading this book.
it’s so impressive how you read all these books to give us such an amazing review video ❤️
Yay! I'm so excited for this! Thank you for all of the work you do to produce quality entertainment for us :D you're wonderful
AGGGTM deserves all the hype! I'm so glad you loved it!
I love watching videos like this where you tear apart some of my faves (tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow, lessons in chemistry, song of achilles, malibu rising) but you still manage to make me agree with your points 😭
I was trying to put on mascara when the review of the love hypothesis started aaaaand I laughed so hard I poked myself in the eye 😂
Not you calling Nora from Book Lovers Naomi HAHAAH, you gave me a good laugh Chandler 😭😂
happens every time lmao
I agree with you regarding Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow, as does a friend of mine. So there are now three of us in the world.
Me too!
“Multiple moist holes like a hole in the ground” 😂😂😂😂 so true I hated ugly love 🤢
The description of the midnight library was 👏 spot 👏 on
I think I'm the only person who didn't like The Silent Patient.
I don't realize how much I miss a Chan list video until we get a new one. Chefs kiss.
I’m cracking up! I actually started questioning if something was wrong with me because I’m not Gaga over CoHo. I see there are more of us! 😆
Ye I am not interested in her either, cuz I had heard so much good things but also so much bad things about her that it put me off reading her stuff.
I read 2 of her books and especially the last one severely traumatized me
I thought the midnight library was really beautiful and I cried after listening to the beginning part before she ends up at the library. Maybe it was a little dragged out but I feel like it's definitely a book that hits harder if you've been through what the main character went through.
I agree! I read it as a part of a book club, and I was unfortunately in the minority… but I LOVED it!
Her opinion is not more important than yours, even if she acts like it is... You shouldn't care that much.
“One thing you should know about me…is I’m an old hag” made me CACKLE 😂
I don't always agree but I love your list videos. So entertaining!! ❤
Brave little toasters unite!! You know it's a Chan video when you're laughing out loud for almost the entire hour. Already excited for Chanmus! Thanks for the great content!!
I’m on a reading break atm but this video is incredibly amusing. 10/10
I literally just finished The Perfect Marriage the other night and am so glad I’m not the only one enraged by this book!!! Being called a brave little toaster 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 I love these videos so much and the funky one liners always crack me up ❤❤❤❤❤
🍞 - a loaf of bread emoji for all the brave little toasters here 😌
🐌 would definitely read a book about the thoughts of Gary the snail.
The quick quips are my absolute favorite with these list videos 😂
Icebreaker doesn’t deserve a quip anyways. I said what I said.
Quick and to the point about each book, I honestly didn't find it hard to sit through the entire video. Thanks for the reviews!
Well I found this immensely entertaining! Thank you for keeping it real. 😂
Love hearing your thoughts on books! Not many I have the same taste as me so I appreciate you as I can trust your opinion. Thank you! Plus, made it to the end of the video 😂 🎉
Your makeup is looking extra nice in this video
thank you :)
Ok literally your thoughts match mine exactly on all these books (the ones I did read)! When I watch videos like this I realize more and more that I am not a picky reader what’s so ever 💀 cus I liked most of these books
Amazing. loved the way of explanation. Simple and easy to comprehend.
Most honest review of song of Achilles I have ever heard!!!! 👏🏻 👏🏻
As a 22 year old, the inheritance game got me back into reading a couple years back. I liked the first book bc you don’t really need to think and it’s just kinda fun. The two books after were shit though. Really could have been condensed into 1, MAYBE 2 books
I liked it as a mystery cause I can't stand thrillers or horror which is where most mysteries live so it was perfect for me!
The way that you described Love on the Brain absolutely sent me 😂
I read It ends with us that book broke my soul i cried reading this book like it ripped my heart out n i also read im glad my mom died n after reading this i cant look at icarly the same again like i loved this book it was such a fantastic book
These list videos are my Super Bowl!!!!
im so refreshed by your opinion on song of achilles bc ive tried reading it so many times (in fact, i saw her at the Dallas Museum of Art when she was doing a book tour back when she published and bought the book then) but i just cant get into it.
I really appreciate you speaking out about the books that glamorize abuse. And making the reader feel stupid! Like yeah, maybe I could have figured it out if you had actually given me the clues... Love all your quips. Will be following for more!
This is the first video I’ve watched of yours and I’m hooked! 😊
Waiting all year for this 😍💃🏻
This video is completely unhinged and I’m LIVING for it
I looove these videos cause we have so many similar opinions (even though i love ch and tjr). Can't wait to read the ones you've recommended that I haven't yet read!
Between calling yourself an old hag (can relate) and your review of The Inheritance Games, you’ve got yourself a new loyal subscriber 🤭🤩💖
This is the first video I see from you, I am not really into any of the books I think (I have specific taste) but I’m in LOVE with your talking speed. Even tho I’m not really interested in what happens in these books it’s incredibly pleasing just listening to you.
i’ve never been this early omg i’m excited for this vid!!
I’m a brave little toaster 🎉 I was also hyperventilating a bit listening to you talk so fast 😮💨 Great list and commentary though 💚
Awesome video and I even if I haven’t read most of the books on the list I will probably check out the ones that you did recommend and maybe the Taylor Jenkins Reid books that you mentioned.
Another tomorrow, tomorrow and tomorrow hater yes! ❤
I don’t agree with all your takes, but they’re still hilarious 😂 thanks for suffering through these books for us
Liking this video because your review of Midnight Library made me laugh out loud.
Odd that The Silent Patient was so popular. I really don't get what the big fuss was.
This is the first video I am watching on you channel. And I love how I am 7 books in and you didn't like a single one of them. And I agree.
You’re not alone on Tomorrow Tomorrow Tomorrow…thank you for sharing your review on this because same 😅 I don’t get what all the hype is about 🤷🏻♀️
me either
Just read They Call Her Sofia by Doris Ladino and LOVED it! Definitely a great read for everyone’s Fall TBR list. 😊
I couldn't make it through The Fine Print, I was just bored and ended up DNFing. Unfortunate bc that concept sounds right up my alley. Gonna give Lauren Asher's Dirty Air series a try though, maybe I'll like that one!
Me too! The Fine Print was soooooo boring.
I hate that reading makes me get dizzy, lose my vision, throw up, and then die repeatedly. tisn't fair 🤕
is there any books that hate romance as much as I do? oh the agony
Love on the brain is my fav Ali Hazelwood book for sure! Was a bit disappointed in the recent release from her because of how much I loved love on the brain 🩷
honestly you ranting about horrible books are my fave videos to watch
You're the best and I love listening to your opinions 💛
Omg I thought I was the only person in the world who didn’t love song of Achilles. Immediately subscribed hehe
this brave little toaster loved every minute here 🥰
Ok instant subscribe for me. I have read most of these books and you are spot on! I agreed with everything you said. Except for Verity. Although I don't love CH I did quite enjoy Verity. How can that be? Seriously, its weird. Now I'm going to go watch the rest of your videos and find decent book to read. Thanks!
Thank you so informative. Love you’re recommendations ❤️
I love your list. I have a few of the books on your list but too scared to read them or just want to be in a really good mood to read
Glad to have found someone that doesn’t like Verity. I was feeling like I was the only one 😅
These videos make my day. Thank u for yor service
My reaction to the title was "good question."
Here for the TJR take as maybe the only person who didn’t adore 7 Husbands.
(Edit cause I made it to the end and wow I feel seen)
Oh you're not alone, I deeply hated 7 husbands of Evelyn Hugo, soooo overhyped
You and I have very different tastes but your rants and takes make me absolutely cackle
I loved Malibu so much💔💔💔I might have to reread and see if I feel differently
Thank gawd I'm not the only one who didn't like Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow. I hated Sadie. I felt so bad for Sam. I agree with your whole review of it
I def disagree about tomorrow x3 but love hearing all your takes regardless
your channel is such an inspiration! new booktuber here and i adore your content ❤
Great video! I couldn’t help but laugh at your entertaining book-reading commentary from the Goodreads Book Challenge list…😂
I don’t care about sports at all, especially in my books, and I loved Carrie Soto 😊 I would really recommend it!
I tried to read The Silent Patient *sooooooooooooo* many times, but I just can't ever seem to finish it...or even get past the first couple of chapters. It's just so *goddamn* boring!
Love this video and your honesty!
I agree that Spare was all over the place.
The last thing he told me is now a tshow on appletv with Jennifer Garner.
I just found your channel and I love it! 😍
This was so much fun to watch!
i'm here for the puns 🤣
This was fun!! Thank you!!
Chandler, would you please let us know which of the books are available as audiobooks; especially the ones available for free on UA-cam. Those of us otherwise challenged would truly appreciate it. I think you’re cool❤And I like what you do. Thank you.
Loved your commentary in this one, lots of lol moments
I just love how your brain works 🥰
