OMG I actually remember this in the club! It makes me feel old and young at the same time. I will never forget the awesomeness of 90's clubbing in Texas! All you need to follow it up with is Warm Leatherette and you knew it was closing time.
I'm here after seeing "Dune 2" in theatre 🎥.Cause it's in the second sequel,"He Who Controls The Spice Controls The Universe",is said by Vladimir Harkonnen.
When I first saw DUNE, I hired it from a video library some 12yrs after its release. I watched it 4 times in two days. Needless to say its my Fav SciFi of all time. & I feel that perhaps only Peter Jackson could re-create this master piece. "Again, it is the legend!"
WOOO!!! I would hear this track in Killeen at Tremors. I was a clubrat for sure. Thanks for this, talkin about the new movie w/ young co-workers & I remembered this; 1 guy never knew of the '84 movie
When I open my expectations I can enjoy both the Lynch AND the SciFi channel's versions, knowing well that NO ONE could match the magnificent pictures and scenes that Frank Herbert portrayed in my own mind. Both have brilliant moments, both come short of the complete awesomeness of the book and its subsequent series. Its so fantastical and epic that in the infinite beauty and terror of mind is where its best seen.
THIS IS GREAT! It must have taken a lot of will power to make this. It is by will alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the juice of Sapho that thoughts acquire speed, the lips acquire stains. The stains become a warning. It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.
I genuinely don't get y'all old school shield haters, it looks weird and alien and awesome and it always will! One of the few things I really love about Lynch Dune.
Had the Cd as a kid. Cannot find it on the Internet anywhere! Hell until I found this I thought I was the only one that still remembered it! I believe it was Eon - Void Dweller?
Such a good analogy of the resource we cal travel material it has a name it is the black gold. Because he who controls the spice controls the erm universe, or maybe just Earth atm. :P
@@theodore8178 Yea, I'm well aware this is long before the first Mortal Kombat game, lol. I remember when Mortal Kombat came out, whereas Dune was around before I was born. Like I said in my original comment, I wasn't saying it was a rip-off, due to that. And also, this is a redux/fanmade video where they put different music into the scene that wasn't originally there in 1982. This is a song from 1990 that was big in the nightclub scene at the time (Spice by Eon.) Mortal Kombat: The Album began production in 1993 and came out in 1994 during the same general era of music and has a lot of similar techno 90s vibes/energy to it as well, which is why I made my comment. I was never trying to say Mortal Kombat inspired Dune or this song edited in. The song just has a similar vibe/energy of that era of techno/dance music. I wouldn't be surprised if the Mortal Kombat theme was inspired by this Spice song itself.
On another note, I feel like this redux makes the movie look cooler and better paced than it was! Even though in general I think "this should be longer" when actually watching it. Oh well, maybe someday will give it a unique treatment instead of a star trek actors feel; I'm not saying that because of Patrick Stewart, I think he, the baron, and Sting (!) were the best actors in this movie!
dam dam dam.., I was gonna say new york or chicago but I was in austin texas too and went to every club I could...there was the main strip 6th stree and then some clubs on a back road then there was a club sometimes across the street from a hole in the wall club called " the cavity"...I remember hearing this song for sure...more than once.. for some reason I thought I might of been in chicago in this gay club called berlin but maybe it was texas.. I loved video mixes like this when they would play it.
I played this both at The Lizard Lounge and The Underground that were off 6th street. The Lizard Lounge did have a really nice small gay bar across the street from it.. wonder if that's the one you are thinking of.
hmm yeah I remember that name the Lizard Lounge.....I stayed at the the cavity for a month or 2 back then...and tried to go to every club I could back then there....but I remember that kind of mix witht the music and the video's that kind of thing was big in chicago and new york clubs
The first club "The Lizard Lounge" had pop/techno on the main floor and "hip-hop/rap" in the "basement" area. The second club "The Underground" was more techno/alternative rock on the main floor and rap on the lower level.
That's how I think it too, and how most of the actors say it in these movies. Too bad I don't have a copy of the book on hand, I'm pretty sure in the reference pages at the back it breaks down how to pronounce it. I actually spent a good while looking on the Internet yesterday to see how it's supposed to be pronounced, but the only thing I saw was Wikipedia's thing that requires you to learn another language before you can read it, lol.
God, you know I really want to watch something like the Transformers movies or a Marvel movie instead. ..............................................FVCK NO I'M KIDDING!!!!!!!!!!!

Love the song
Love story
Love the movie old and new
Awesome work
Every so often I just have to listen to this song!
This was one of the all time great ones
When I first saw DUNE, I hired it from a video library some 12yrs after its release. I watched it 4 times in two days.
Needless to say its my Fav SciFi of all time.
& I feel that perhaps only Peter Jackson could re-create this master piece.
"Again, it is the legend!"
What about Denis Villeneuve?
Numbers night club still plays this song here in Houston, Texas. Only on Fridays though.
+Rocky Gonzales That's pretty cool to hear... are they playing this video with it?
+Jim Garner Unfortunately, they don't play this video with the song. It would be cool if they did.
If you know anyone there, have them ping me, I'm happy to send them a copy they could play :)
+Jim Garner
Ok. The DJ's name is Wes Wallace.
This is his email if you like.
wes@numbersnightclub.com
Holy shit numbers plays this? I didn't even know if numbers was still open. My mom used to go to numbers. I'm 30. I never been.
WOOO!!! I would hear this track in Killeen at Tremors. I was a clubrat for sure. Thanks for this, talkin about the new movie w/ young co-workers & I remembered this; 1 guy never knew of the '84 movie
Who is still flowing in 2024?
Best montage for this song, hands down....bravo.
came for the vid, stayed for the jam.... too much fun.

Funny thing is Lynch hates the movie because it wasn't what he wanted.... he learned from that to make sure to have final cut.

Nice! New Dune remake means this song needs a comeback!
Love it! Used to hear this out at The Fiesta/Night Gallery in Biloxi, MS back in the day. Roll on!
The spice must flow.
How come I never heard this when I was a pothead?! 😂 Awesome.
You know, those shields looked a lot less stupid in my mind when I was reading.
much much less
well, now you got way more cooler looking shields in the new movie. Go watch it or you will miss the most awesome cinematic experience ever!
I genuinely don't get y'all old school shield haters, it looks weird and alien and awesome and it always will! One of the few things I really love about Lynch Dune.
@@jerodast I, for one, like the shield from the old Dune
It was a product of its time and speaking of time, I was born the same year this released I think. Feel old yet?
I freaking love Dune. South Park spoofed Dune PERFECTLY with the Thanksgiving History Channel Episode.
And they did it again this year.
I used to play this at the club I worked at. The Underground.
about time you got here :)
The Underground NYC or Dallas?
@@avpdallas Austin, Texas
This is so epic , When i was playin rise of the triad this song was on repeat !
How can you proclaim yourself to be the emperor of the known Universe when you only inhabit 4 planets? lol
The "known universe" is subjective. What if they lived in a galaxy so far away from others in the cluster they couldn't see outside their own galaxy?
There are a lot of other planets mentioned in the books.
He who controls the spice controls the universe. All you need is Arrakis.
Eon - Fear the Mindkiller! Found it all because of this post! Thanks!
1993 6th Street, The Mirage at the corner of San Jacinto was my club of choice. Sorry I missed your video! Great work!
That was me! The Mirage, Lizard Lounge, and "The Library" all over in that area..
this is excellent
Thank you for making this!!! :D
Had the Cd as a kid. Cannot find it on the Internet anywhere! Hell until I found this I thought I was the only one that still remembered it! I believe it was Eon - Void Dweller?
What's in the basket?
This line has been on my mind for decades. Every time I stand in front of the toilet/urinal I think "The pee must flow."
love it man, thanx for the trip

Great! I've been looking for this one. THANKS!

Six downvoters will live out their lives in a pain amplifier!
Here's six more - send them away.
And another one.
Not until one is invented that actually works.

I would love to see the original VHS cut!
If I ever find the tape I will try and get it transferred over to digital :)
When I don't have the time to watch the 2:17:00 version, I come back here and get my 6:32 fix! 😁
How have I never seen this before?
The same thing. It's awesome.
To be honest I preferred the song with the exhausting breathing in it. Basket Case was another I remember. And maybe a BC Reprise? Been a while!
Classic
I feel like this is like the Mortal Kombat theme song (not saying it's a rip off, more like the same vibe/energy) infused into Dune. This is great :D
This is before mortal kombat

I feel like this is the song strong bad was talking about.
Dude, I would have loved to gone to a night club that played this. Seriously kickass. More over the video footage, not so much on the song though.
Let the Spice flow
wow, this sounds like soundtrack from c&c strategy. like the great frank klepaki wrote it.

this song sounds very 90's!

3:39 Hillary is pissed off right about now! Meow.
Mua- Muad'Dib!
The Desert Mouse.
I often thought it was pronounced: moo-WAHD DEEB. If it were Moe-a deeb, it would look like this: Mo'a dib. But it's just in the inflection I guess
Love the history behind the video, thanks for sharing.
I'm curious, what genre were the clubs/nights that this played at?
The first club "The Lizard Lounge" had pop/techno on the main floor and "hip-hop/rap" in the "basement" area. The second club "The Underground" was more techno/alternative rock on the main floor and rap on the lower level.
Jim Garner can’t say I’ve ever heard a club combine techno with pop or rock!
