This has to win. It is a masterpiece just pure music art.
It is a lullaby (EAEA) that mothers sang to their babies to calm them down and make them sleep. The singer's grandmother sang it to her as a child. The setting is red ropes emulating the fringes of a manila shawl, a typical garment of the region.
My goodness, again I find you. We dont care
@@lestatver You maybe don't care, but it's your own fault. Every single person here could be interested in its meaning, just the same as in other songs' contexts.
A lullaby that makes your ears bleed
The song, the staging have many elements of Federico García Lorca’s poetry: red colour, the Moon, the song is a lullaby ( popular literary genre ), the mother, the child…
Masterpiece 💕🕊️✌🏼
Blanca Paloma's song is a play, a performance made to be represented and with the staging it makes sense, using Spanish (Lorca) but also universal symbolic references. It is an invocation, a call, a song to what makes us feel safe and strong at the same time, which makes us enter a hypnotic trance.
She relates it to her grandmother, to that maternal thing that takes care of us and protects us. The red strings that hang down and that she already explained reminded her of her grandmother's shawl, form a circle that is like a maternal womb that gives us light and nourishes us. She goes through that uterus that is fertilized (this is how I understand those hands that surround her and hold her for a few seconds). Then the miracle of life is done.
The moon is the symbol of the feminine, which engenders, nourishes and makes it grow. It is present every night except when it goes out on a new moon. During the performance, the sound “ea, ea” is repeated loudly and rhythmically, which is the lullaby that mothers sing to children when they are afraid, when they cry, to reassure them and give them strength. Nothing bad is going to happen... The dancers also imitate the movement of the arms that they cradle spasmodically. It looks like a sway of waves... Because the sea also lulls and transforms with the phases of the moon and is the quintessential feminine element. The base that sounds below the telluric song and the allusions to the heartbeat complete the visual and sound elements of the set.
This song is a song to celebrate life and a work of art. Win or not, it will not leave anyone indifferent and it will be difficult to forget.
You just know how much Suzanne will appreciate and acknowledge the fact how strong Blanca is as a woman and as a performer on stage.😃
Ayyy William!! ♥️♥️
The song itself (music, singing, clapping) is a bulería, kind of a specific 'subgenere' of flamenco with a modern twist of an electronic beat.
The topic and the lyrics come from the POV of a woman singing a lullaby, trying to put her crying baby to sleep ('Eaea' is a cooing sound in Spain)
The performance and staging are the ones of a ritual, summoning her ancestors. Specially her late grandma, wich this song is inspired by and dedicated to, because she taught and used to sing flamenco and lullabies to her.
The repetitive pattern of the beat, backing vocals and rythmic clapping are intended to be entrancing and hypnotizing for connecting with the energy of the experience. Her hand movements work as a praise and a calling to the above.
The red threads are a reference to the fringes of a traditional 'mantón' (shawl) simbolizing protection, motherhood, in fact she said it could be seen sort of womb-shaped. Actually she worked as a costume and stage set designer, as she did here too.
The white circle represents the moon, where, as the lyrics say, she wants to be buried in when she dies, so she will be able to watch over her child everynight but one ('newmoon')
First she kneels looking up, later she kneels again looking downwards, always with a reaching hand.
Then she shoots a flaming arrow and lights it on fire (red pulsing light, heartbeat, blood, death) Finally the priestess gets on the shrine to end the ritual in ecstasy.
Thank you William for being a great Jury and the whole Wiwi team for the coverage of Benidorm :)
Thanks for you reaction it's great . I think it's a wonderful song . In the south of Spain when a baby cries , his mother takes him against her chest and whispers ea,ea, ea, to reassure him . Ole ! La Blanca Paloma 🕊️ ❤.
She’s such an icon
This performance has grown on me a lot. Love when Suzanne reacts!
Thanks ❤ Gracias. Vamos Blanca Paloma.
Thank you so much for sharing this fantastic video. Your reactions are really great. You are so cute ❤️🤗❤️🤗
Love your react. Thank you !
Suzanne!! So glad to see you again! Was worried you weren’t going to review this year. Love you sis❤️
Love the song and performance! 12 points from me!!
This vid made me learn a couple of unnoticed details, it made me enjoy it better, thx!
The best!!!
Blanca Paloma capable of creating a melody and a whole song with just her voice, she doesn't need anything more than a distant sound to sing the whole song a cappella. Bravo Blanca Paloma that only the masters do. MASTERPIECE
Suzanne we missed you SO MUCH💕
Great performance!!!!!!!!!!!
Its a song but also literature and theatre in some way as its influenced by the poet Federico García Lorca (I mean, the simbology -the Moon, the life and death, gipsy, passion...) its spanish tradition, spanish folklore and spanish art.
Amazing
I find it amusing that she is describing what she sees... I mean, we can watch it too xD
aaaaa Suzanne!! missed you
The moon It's a very important symbol in Lorca a very famous spanish poet. I thought It's a a wink to him.
Welcome back, Queen 💕

You really understood everything about this song, I loved your video
Spain winner alert ESC 2023, no doubt!!!🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸
So they said if the restaurant fails then they loose their house and we find out it was closed... he laughs his head off was definitely the highlight for me
OMG The Queen sister has checked in. Wellcome back Suzanne
Based in BULERÍA, an style of FLAMENCO. The lyrics have to be, talk about with his grandfather and the universal poet Federico García Lorca y his poems "NANAS" ( is a way how mothers try to protect or sleep their babies seing or singing EA EA, EA, EA). As musician for me no matter how can finish this Work Teathrel Art. IS MAGIC. Instead of guitars and boxes sounds synthe. I hope this time don't see neighbors voting one to the other. That corrupt this Festival. In my opinion we have to open our minds more than the infinitive.
It is ART!
I love how William eludes to reacting / reviewing anything Spanish related. I know he was a jury
I'll publish a video discussing the show soon. Unfortunately I have a respiratory tract infection that spread to my ears, so I feel really unwell.
@@Wiwibloggsso sorry to hear that… ear infections are not fun 😢 I hope you get well soon ❤❤❤
@@Eva-jq1tx The worst : ( And thank you!
@@Wiwibloggs oh no! Get better. We look forward to hearing your experience as a Jury in the spanish national selection
Is Suzanne's blood moon rising? 😄
Can we only have William.and Deban in reaction videos? I miss old days

Was this a reaction video or a describing video? 😂
U have already seen It, what are u pretending?
Bless your heart my dear, but doing a reaction to a video should be so much more than doing a flat, emotionless, visual description of a performance. A bit more practice and enthusiasm! Love.
Women is hart in the world I need this song but chance europe I love 🌘🌒🌗🌓🌔🌖🌛🌙🌕🌚
💀
The staging representing female empowerment ritual.
Bad reaction. It's been a distant technical description.
To react, first you must to lisen, but you only speak and speak.....pufffffffffffffffffffffffff
Personally, I think this song doesnt go anywhere, I mean it might work in Spain (Im not even sure) but not in whole Europe or even worst the rest of the world.
OMG, how far has wiwibloggs plummeted? William, I have so much respect for you but, honestly, your sister has, like, zero input. Her reactions are embarrassing to watch.. To give her the reaction video to a really prominent contender like this is really quite shocking
my first feeling watching her performance made me feel exhausted. i don’t know about this one.
this could flop in the final 😢
Boring
