Enjoy the pre-baby calm before the happiness storm! Thanks for the review. It looks a lot better than I expected (half capacity in each GR1 compartment).
I'm surprised at how much I can get it in actually. It out-performed my expectations. And thanks dude, really. Happiness storm makes me feel better. I dunno if Scars has a warranty for that, ha.
1) Good luck with the kiddo. 2) When you get back to the videos can you please do a quick comparison between this bag and a GR1 26L and GR2 34L? I understand the volume difference but would like to see them next to each other and see what they can physically hold. Thanks for the good content!
I don't actually have a GR2 34L to show but I could certainly show the GR1 26L vs the GR2 26L. Just looking at them at the moment the GR1 26L is definitely taller than the GR2 26L. I'll work on a video comparing some of the models when I'm back ;)
Wow that laptop sleeve is slick! Since you’re going to be a new dad, that sleeve can double as a changing mat in a pinch! You won’t want put your newborn on ANY surface when you have to change the diapers, if you’re anything like me!
Hey, Josh. I don't usually comment, but I'm so glad I found your channel. Great content! I have a a few bags, but a Goruck isn't one of them. You may be turning me to the dark side. The real reason I'm dropping a note is to wish you & your wife good luck. I'm sending good vibes & positive thoughts your way. Having been there 3 times, there's a lot of anxiety, but it's going to be awesome!
Very much appreciate the kind words :) I'm excited, for sure, but also kinda losing it waiting haha. And I don't necessarily consider Goruck to be the dark side ;) haha. What kind of packs do you normally use? Always interesting to hear.
@@jtinseoul7041 No, it's not the dark side at all. Just having fun w/ the expression. :) The GR2 26L & GR1 Heritage bags look great & would be the ones I'd really want. Whether I could actually get one is another story, but if I'm going to spend that type of money, I might as well aim for the top! The bags I'm using the most right now are the Defy Rover, the Recycled Firefighter 24 hr (same as yours), & a Greenroom 136 Metrodrifter prime edition. I have various other packs, slings & duffles from those three brands as well as from The Brown Buffalo, Evergoods, Misson Workshop, TAD, & YNOT. I've been admiring Goruck from afar for a while, but I will say that your channel has drawn me closer in that direction. Looking forward to seeing more from you when you return. Take your time & take care.
Hi Josh, good luck with your family, about the Nedrelow magic sleeve shown in the video, what size are your laptop and the magic sleeve which can fit in the laptop compartment of gr2? Thanks
The magic sleeve I use is the one for the 13inch Macbook Pro and it fits like EXACTLY into the laptop sleeve on the GR2 26. The sleeve is definitely quite a bit bigger than the laptop.
We are very close in height which is awesome. I’m so afraid of larger backpacks because I don’t want to look like a outdoor Backpacker carrying 2 weeks worth of gear. This pack doesn’t look too big at all. So, after I watched your Apex review, I told my lady that I wanted it, she hooked me up for my bday. I know, super lucky! I already kind of new I wanted it, but your quick look kind of sent me over the top. I must ask, what was the determining factor that stopped you from using the Apex in the hospital?
Nice choice on the Apex. Super lucky indeed! The major reason I decided to go with the GR2 is multiple big compartments. I can separate things I need quickly and things I need just once or twice a day. The Apex would basically only be the one big compartment which would make accessing smaller things constantly during the day a bit more annoying. That said of all the bags I own it was my second choice. That's not so bad I reckon ;)
Hmm. I mean if you told me to pick one I'd 100% pick the GR2. It wouldn't even be close. The GR2 26 is like in my top 3 favourite packs of all time. The TAD might be in my top 10-15. The GR2 is just a lot more useful in a lot more situations.
@@jtinseoul7041 ah - you’re killing me, i was set on the Gr2 32, but after your review on the 26 I’m drooling. If i didn’t already have a gr1 26. Thanks for the reply and great videos . 👍
I have two grey cats so I've got the worst of pet hair to deal with haha. I've mentioned my battle with it many times on the channel. The 500D on the 26L GR2 has a nice coating that helps a lot. It's easily as good as any of my 1000D bags. Also, the bottom being ballistic nylon helps a lot too as that doesn't attract any at all. If pet hair is a worry, I wouldn't worry about it vs 1000D on this particular bag ;)
@@jtinseoul7041 new to the channel, but good to hear. I have a 26L GR1 Slick in coyote that does great with not picking up hair so good to know the 500D is good to go!
I'm not sure if this batch of 500D would be the same as that of the Slick (in case you were thinking about that option). I know the materials tend to differ slightly from batch to batch. I know it feels slightly different from my friends 500D slick.
I have a couple of GR1s but nothing in black. If you see the colour of the Wiredopp or the Field Pocket in the video they are both the same black 1000D as the bags. To me, it is slightly shinier than the 1000D but hardly would be classified as "shiny" if that makes sense. Wrinkly, it's kinda relative. It's wrinkly compared to a brand new 1000D bag but to me it just looks like a broken in one.
@@jtinseoul7041 excellent! Excited to get mine, I am probably going to get a gr2 40 liter as well if the 500d is easier to deal with. I found the 1000d too heavy and cumbersome
Nice! I definitely don't think you'll find it "too shiny." So I wouldn't worry much. It's probably more the strong lights in the studio. I will say, it's much better at defending against dust and pet hair than other 500D bags I've had in black. So that's a big positive for me.
No, definitely changes depending on the company. I had to pay a lot of tax on an Evergoods bag, for example. Tom Bihn normally prepays and some other companies like Mission Workshops gives you the option to prepay if you want. It's definitely case by case, company by company with anything over $200.

Appreciate that! The waiting is the worst haha. It's like constant anxiety.

Will it fit the pd small cam cube in terms of thickness?
GR1 26L with "the pocket" versus GR2 26L (with it's extra pockets)
Tis the plan ;) The only 26L GR1 I have left is "the pocket" haha.
Do you have any pet hair to deal with on the 500D? My main draw to 1000D has always been that it doesn't attract as much dog hair.

According to the website it's 3.5lbs.
