BYUs punter when I was visiting for an asu game absolutely bombed it and it went through the back of the end zone while the punter was in his own ten I think

I don't think you're crazy. I'm one of the few people who would punt on 4th down in Madden or NCAA because hitting a coffin corner inside the 5 is more satisfying to me than actually scoring a touchdown lol
Based on what I saw it was the longest distance in the air of any of these shown. The bounce on the ground has a large element of luck and can be prevented by the returner catching the ball. But you can't stop 80 yards in the air.

i saw Ray Guy punt from end zone to end zone when he played with Southern Mississippi against Ole Miss. Bill Malouf was the return guy. It hit over his head and bounced two or three times before going into and through the endzone. I think 1972 but not certain.Awesome.
I was attending WVU when Todd Sauerbrun kicked that 90+ yard punt. He also had a 71 yarder in the same game. Only highlights of the kickoff classic which saw a lopsided drubbing of the Mountaineers at the hands of the defending national champion Cornhuskers.
I remember 1 punt in the Pro Bowl where the AFC punter (I think he was a former rugby player from another country) boomed a punt from his own end zone to the other end zone I'm amazed that that isn't the only time it's been done. Good video!

Not a punt really. But when I was in high school our punter(Dan Henke) had an 80yd punt on a free kick after a safety. About 50yds in the air and rolled the last 30 for a touchback.
They really don’t, and it’s unfortunate. Kickers and punters both play crucial roles in a football game, but everyone cares more about quarterbacks, running backs, receivers, etc. Special teams players are people too
The team at my high school had a great left-footed punter who was also the star right-handed quarterback. He was naturally left-handed but his father had trained him from preschool to be a quarterback and forced him to play "correctly".

did you not watch the full video. the guy had a 98 yard put stop at the 1 inch line and had coverage to tackle the returner at the 2.

2004, Washington State at Arizona. Kyle Basler (WSU) literally boots it from his own endzone to the other for a touchdback. Biggest punt ever.

The punt by Steve O'Neal of the Jets was 98 yards and I believe it's still an NFL record. This was in 1969 vs the Denver Broncos.

1 to 1 is still 98 yards. Since you're allowed to punt all the way up to the line of scrimmage, it's not measured how far behind it you kick from.
