- This video got demonetized too, rip
there is one I can't find a record of that is between 94-97 yards and happened before 1965, that is only the only one that is missing.

This is what it’s come to, watching punting highlights during Quarantine
Omg so I'm not the only 1 afterall
Yeja but that long of ounts are actusly interesting to watch lmao.
I just saw this because it was in my calculus book
The epitome of boredom

1:28 most people should know this but Randall Cunningham was a QB and was a Punter in College
A freaking NFL QB punted for 91 yards
A punter kicking 91 yards would be impressive let alone a QB!
@@555dking good point
Damn giants he would've kicked a 100 yard point
Cunningham was an All-American punter in college
I saw that punt live on tv.
Wow the first one is 9/10/2001, and it's the Giants, freaky.
I was at that game. First game in the new stadium, rooting for the Giants. Of course the next day was 9-11. The other thing about that game is that Both Jason Elam of the Broncos and Morten Anderson of the Giants tried 65 and 64 yard field goals at the end of the first half, which would have broken the NFL record at the time.
I remember seeing a 9/11 home video on UA-cam a few years ago of a guy who survived the World Trade Center attacks because he was late for work having stayed up late the night before watching that game. He worked in one of the upper floors above the crash (where no one survived) and he was filming the explosions from his apartment window in Manhattan and he was saying incredulously, "Monday Night Football actually just saved my life".
That's just creepy.
I think Ed McCaffrey broke his leg in that game.
@jandrewhearne Yes he did. I remember watching that game and it was sick. McCaffrey breaking his leg in gruesome fashion the night before would’ve been huge news on pretty much any other day except 9/11/2001.
You know your a football fan if your watching a video on punts lmao
u know it
Do "Field goals that missed by a mile"

Search "Adam Vinatieri 2019 highlights" you're welcome
And after the game he got tested
Rodney William's record-breaking 90-yard punt was amazing! Even more amazing, the ball left his foot on the 1 yd line and it flew 84 yds in the air. Then it traveled 21 more yds untouched, settling about 6 yds into the end zone; making it a 105 yd punt. Wow!
Randall Cunningham was a beast
Just another philly qb who couldnt get shit done.
Nick. Foles.
What would be cool is some sort of face-off between Brady and Foles. That would be awesome! Wait what? What's that you say dear? It's been done?
ddebenedictis Nick Foles: GOAT killer, King Slayer, Champion of Philadelphia, God Among Men.
life long Steelers fan, but i did enjoy watching RC play, amazing athlete!
I'm glad to see you found some footage of Steve O'Neal's all-time record 98-yard punt from 1969. I watched that game on TV. In terms of net yardage, that record cannot ever be broken, the ball going from one team's one-yard line to the other team's one-yard line. Too bad the end of the play was cut off in your video. Despite O'Neal's great punt, the Jets lost that game to the Denver Broncos. The Jets were defending Super Bowl champions and the Broncos were not very good back then, but they seemed to have a hex on the Jets.
Randall Cunningham never gets the credit he deserves for his time in Philly. Steve O'neal with the 98 yard punt has a record that, mathematically, can never be broken
Damn i miss John Madden on commentary.
BOOM
Boom, hey, that was a doink.
Al Michaels & John Madden are legends
We still got the great JOE BUCK!
@Koyne smart enough to have a 103-32 Record as a coach, plus a 🏆
If #2 was "the 3rd longest in NFL history" how could it possibly be the second most now?
*No no, he has a point*
FINALLY !!! Someone has the O'Neal punt and properly places it at #1 Nice going !!! but you need to reload the video of that so we can see the end of the play. .
Hall of Fame Sammy Baugh was the all-time all-around NFL player. He was a top rated starting quarterback and punter in the same season for a few years. On some games tripled his duty playing cornerback. Once in the same game he threw 4 touchdown passes and intercepted 4 passes as a cornerback while doing punting duties as well. To date no QB has ever topped these accomplishments.
I saw that Steve Oneal punt against the Broncos. I think I was in Junior high. Kicking from the south end of the stadium at the one yard line, he got a good bounce (for the Jets) and Billy Thompson, a ring of fame defensive back for the Broncos let it get by him. What you don't see is Thompson finally picking it up down about where i was sitting at the Broncos one yard line and getting dropped at the 2. 98 yard punt, 1 yard return. You can't flip the field a whole lot more than that. I remember thinking 98 gross and 97 net - those have to be records ... and they still are.
I was in the stands for the 98-yd punt by Steve O'Neal in Denver. The ball was snapped on the one yard line and Billy Thompson tried to catch the ball over his head. He missed and the ball rolled all the way back to Denver's one yard line. What you don't see is how Thompson ran the ball back out close to the 40 because the winded Jets players in the high altitude had to run 70 yards downfield just to meet Thompson at his 30.
I have often wondered to what degree a punt will travel at 1 mile altitude versus sea level.
If the longest NFL FG hasn't been set yet in Denver, I'll wager that it eventually will be.
And, imagine if thompson had gotten his fingertips on the ball. No 98 yard punt.
I remember seeing that punt live on TV. My memory, though, is that Thompson let the ball roll, thinking it would reach the end zone for a touchback. When it stopped rolling on the 1, he picked it up but only returned it to about the 10. There wasn't a 40 yard return.
That play is posted as “Steve O’Neal, The Longest Punt in NFL History.” You can see Denver’s Bill Thompson (36) pick the ball up at the half- yard line, literally, after it rolled there and stopped. He only made it to about the three yard line before he was tackled by three Jets players. Although the Jets narrowly lost the game, Steve O’Neal’s punt is still the record and forever will be, since that lazy Sunday afternoon of Sept. 21, 1969.
No. He only returned it 2 yards to the 3 yard line, you can watch the full punt and return on the NFL website.
Awesome
At some point in the early 80's I was at a game in Foxboro where Rich Camarillo kicked a ball from his end-zone, over the head of the receiver, and bounced through the other end-zone. Everyone there was like "did I just see that?"
Cool video good job savage
I feel sad for all the people who are too young to have seen Randall Cunningham play. As a Redskins fan I hated him two weeks out of every year but he was one of the most amazing players to watch. If he would have had the benefit of being coached by someone like Joe Gibbs there is no telling how good he could have been.
Commanders now
@@isaacnaftz5852 Nope, the Commanders is an expansion team in Washington DC. The Washington Redskins were a football team that played in DC from 1937 to 2019.
Really cool vid
I love how the crowd, hoping for a blocked punt, collectively groans.
1:30 Gotta love “QB Eagles”
I went to HS with Rodney Williams, guy was hilarious.
that’s my good friends dad and is now my soccer coach
@@griffinlane1637 that’s awesome coincidence
I grew up next door to him. He used to take me to Southwest Dekalb high school’s football field to watch him practice punting and catch the balls. Never even knew he had made some sort of history
I think Randall Cunningham was a very under rated athlete. Too bad he had that bad injury
Quite a few QBs were also punters: Danny White, Tom Tupa, etc.
Still amazing
Ur channel grew so much
Hey.i subbed.can you sub back
I saw the Cunningham punt when it happened. That was insane.
I had an idea for you. How about a video that has all the games where the team wins with the two point conversation instead of going for the tie
Travis Guzman the raiders opener from last year
Travis Guzman yeeees!
That would go right over your head though.
Stick to punchline, that's where you'll prove yourself.
Damn, you wouldn't want to be kicked up the arse by these guys.
Cunningham was a freak of nature. He could throw a ball about as far as that punt.
Yeah, you can ask the Buffalo Bills about that. (For those of you too young to remember or not born yet, search for "Randall Cunningham 95 yard pass.")
That 1st punt was insane. Yeah it was in denver but still awesome
Those old Patriots uniforms and helmets were absolutely sick.
I assume that means you like it. I agree
2:48 Amazing McCarthy punt 93 yards NET!! That's the greatest ever.
The first punt was 98 yards net. He punted from his own one yard line, and it stopped at the opponent's one yard line. That is like a 109-yard return for TD, a record that can be tied but can't be broken.
EDIT: My mistake, I forgot to take into account the return, so 93 net is longer.
@@mrmacross I think you were right the first time. Watching the longer video, it looks like the line of scrimmage is the Jets' 1, and the ball stops at the opponent's 1. The returner picks up a yard or two, netting 96 or 97. Fantastic!
The most impressive was the first one shown, because it was almost 80 yards in the air!
Seemed to be kicked from the 1 and landed about the 15, so 84 yards in the air.
@@notreally2406 Even better!
I'm an Eagles fan so obviously I like the Cunningham punt (which I remember watching on TV live BTW) but I agree the kick by the Giants' punter was the most impressive actual kick excluding the post-kick roll.
i love the referee videos
Let's take some time to admire the kick by Randall Cunningham he's a quarterback
He was a QB AND punter in college
What song is that at the end
Darude-sandstorm
I was a huge Buffalo Bill's fan when Shawn McCarthy hit that "#2" punt (in reality it's the #3) I was so pissed... and that happened in the playoffs. Funny thing is later in life I met Shawn and became buddies with him because he married a family friend. LOL.
how much further does the ball go at Denver's altitude ?
When the Pats were just known for epic punting. Bastards.
Oddly, I don't even remember that guy. The only punter I do recall was Rich Camarillo.
Reminder that the game in the first clip saved thousands of lives the next day
@2:15 Classic Madden
Would love to hear Pat McAfee's commentary on these kicks.
why isnt there footage at the end of o-neals's punt
98 yards I couldn’t even do that in my dreams! Lol
God, the John Madden replay gimmick.
this is amazing, when you think about the shit they do its pretty cool. Think outside the box of the other players and these guys are talented. Go out and kick a ball Man U will notice its hard.
To be more accurate, they should measure it from where the punter *kicked it* not the line of scrimmage.
Thats how they determine gain
That’s what I’ve never understood. The length of a field goal is determined from where it’s kicked, so why not do the same for punts? 🤷🏼♂️
Rushing, passing, etc are all calculated from line of scrimmage.
That’s by far the funnest shit I’ve heard al michael say
Randall Cunningham...The Ultimate Weapon
What about the longest punts IN THE AIR (without like traveling on the ground)
That would be nearly impossible to do
Johnyman ikr
Hangtime?
Longest hang time
They don't really keep stats on thay though so you'd have to analyze every punt ever filmed to see where it actually landed before bouncing.
wow. i knew two guys that put these boys to shame. one kicked 90 yds and the other 100. both consistently. hang time 11 secs. not kidding.
Longest punt I've ever seen was in 1966 or 67 at the Raiders vs the Jets. Ray Guy was standing near the back line of the end zone when the snap went over his head for a safety.
While in a TV commercial Guy is standing on the Raiders 20yd line with a football punching the hell out it. He is way beyond pissed!!
Both teams line up for Guy's punt from the 20yd line. Ref blows his whistle and Guy doesn't move, he just stands there staring at the ball!!!
Finally he takes two steps and crushes his foot into the ball. BOOM!!! It looks as if the ball is traveling higher than the top of the stadium!
The receiver was waiting at his 30yd line. When he sees this missile sailing over his head he turns to watch it in disbelief! The ball doesn't land in the playing field, or the endzone!
IT HITS OUT OF THE ENDZONE AT THE WALL OF THE "BLACK HOLE" AND HOPS AT LEAST 10 ROWS UP IN THE STANDS!!!
People are stunned!! Then all of a sudden there are these cheers, and whistling, and thunderous applause for Ray Guy who walks off the field with his right hand in a fist about his head.
THAT BALL HAD TO GO AT LEAST A HUNDRED YARDS IN THE AIR!!!
Is there anything else to do than just watch old shit during quarantine
Joe bucks Voice hasn’t aged a day
Canadian Football (3 not 4 downs) a d Rugby punters kick for ACCURACY aiming for the "coffin corners", the 5x5yd at each corner of the field. Ideally it bounces out of bounds at the 2 yd line. A good defence gets you a Safety and posession back.
Players today are stronger and bigger, how come none of these kicks were recent? Are there different ball regulations that reduce the punting potential?
Reggie Roby
Back when punting was art.
I watched the 98 yard punt on TV when iy happened.
Ok...
John madden the only human being to ware out a remote control in 4 hours flat.
I like it when teams punt!!!
Wow a qb punted that 91 yards. That's unheard of
Cunning ham punted that holy shit! Eoula been100+ yards if it didn't get stopped too lmao.
Number 2 is crazy audio quality for 1991.
The 98 yard one happened during his rookie year
Oh hell I stand corrected that was a 91 yarder, damn!!
When I saw the name Randall Cunningham I was like LOL, and then I saw him wearing number 12 for the Eagles and I’m like WAIT WAAAAAAT
Cunningham's punt is in the top 5 plays in the Giant/Eagle rivalry
3:22 "That's why this series are always so close."
LOL, Before Tom era.
3:16 #83 doesn’t get enough credit for how hard he ran, and how fast he ran to down that ball at 1 yard line. His closest teammate was 10 yards behind him.
I remember watching the Rodney Williams game. He banged a bunch of long punts. I thought he was going to be the Randy Moss of punters. Then he just disappeared.
Poor Rodney, he Probably thought he was gonna be the biggest news story the following day
That moment when you realize the date of the first clip
Wasn't Ricky Williams (not the Texas one) a running back in college?
I thought that the Jets had a punter that also kicked a 98 yard punt in the 80's, or possibly 90's.
Why Did you cut the last one????
Football games are so crazy 😜
I was born in 1981, I remember America before 9/11 and America after. It was the day that changed everything.
I’m confused because in the #2 clip they mention that it’s the 3rd longest punt in history but this list has it at #2. What’s the mystery in between punt?
Some great not so well known footage. By the way the correct labels would be T-4 for the first two you showed. Since it’s 1, 2, 3, then two tied for 4th , not 5th.
I can see jk Scott doing this
I'd be pissed if I was Williams haha! He didnt expect a touchback so he just let it rip.
Imagine getting a touchback when you punt from your own red zone. Not perfect, but that's still impressive.
That last punt, supposedly the longest one, deserves an asterisk. All of the other punts traveled the distance cited entirely on their own, even if they were bouncing along for the last 20-30 yards. But that last punt was muffed off of the receiver, and the impact on the player's body going backward catapulted it a lot further than it would have gone otherwise. Since it was a muff, the NFL still probably counts the yardage, but like I said, I'd put an asterisk on that record.
O'Neal's punt touched the returner at the 30? I didn't see that. I will look again, though.
Nope, he never touched it; he missed the catch attempt, misjudged it..
..never touched.
Steve O'Neal's longest punt was actually touched by the returner before traveling The Full Monty.
Randall Cunningham should have been in the Hall of Fame a long, long time ago.
Punters are people too
Last one bounced off the return guy's foot.
Why This Video is so weird
1. Run For crucial 1st Down
2. Boy Does He Baaaaaaaaaaaaannnnngggggg thhhis one woooooha 90 gross 70 net
3 the first one happened 12 hours before September 11th 2001 🏙🗽
that last one hit hard
Cunninghan was a QB and punter? Damn
Don’t worry about the monetization bro my whole channel got demonetized
House of Highlights UA-cam sucks
Jonathan Dianda Ik man it’s so annoying
the worst part is that when your video gets demonitized it doesn't go into recommended so it basically gets anywhere from 1/2th to 1/20th the views it would get, which sucks as a sports channel that is basically dependent on the recommended tab for views
Savage Brick Sports Is that why your vids stopped poping up on my recommended list? I thought you were taking a brake but after a while I got suspicious and then I checked your channel and there were new vids. Wtf UA-cam
Demonetized?
@ 3:28 I miss that music.
First time I’ve seen the Steve O’Neal punt. NFL Films missed that one up.
It's on the 1969 Jets highlight film I think
It may have been before the AFL was incorporated into the NFL, but the Jets once kicked a 98 yarder against the Patriots.
Now I just have to question how the third longest punt was second on a list of longest ever punts
Ever heard of ties?
Broken Wave he had 2 that tied for 5th, then he had a 3rd, 2nd (which the clip said was third), and 1st
Or, there's no video of one of those super punts...
I remember watching that Sean McCarthy punt against the Bills back in 1991. I thought it was something that an actual Patriots player actually got some kind of record. Who knew?!
The announcer ever said on the first one that it was 70 yard punt. It hit the ground and then rolled..
Does not matter if it rolled out to the parking lot. It was still kicked only 70 yards
Number 5 was warning us that 911 was coming
