The thing is, the multiverse is infinite and Phyrexia would never be able to invade it completely. Eventually they would fuck up and find either the plane from where the Eldrazi come from, or find and Eldrazi more powerful than Emrakul (or Emrakul herself would break free) and get owned all the way back to Mirrodin
The thing is, even if they haven't won, the oil is still there. Waiting for another awakening, for another Phyrexia. Life is ephemeral. Defeat is ephemeral. Death is ephemeral. Phyrexia is eternal
