Rand, do you cycle up and down a mountain? Taking into account that downhill, you are not peddling at all. From my point of view, reading and listening, while are different actions, the outcome is the same. You get a story at the end. Just my opinion.
I am surprised people missed the whole point of the 9 mins generation, repeating ad nauseam that the graphical differences were minimal, when the hear of the message was that you could keep a similar visual fidelity at DOUBLE the framerate...especially after Cerny had shared that most PS5 users preferred fluidity to resolution...😐😐😐

Used to play on console and work (multimedia) on mac. I believed in Xbox and when they bought Bethesda and said "and you can play those titles on platform where gamepass exists" i was convinced Xbox would change the industry and become the new Netflix. Then those greedy short sighted executives could not wait to see the new strategy to fruition. I was so pissed i sold my mac and xbox to build a PC !

It's called "empathy" when you personally aren't negatively affected but still don't want others to feel negatively affected. Try it some time.

I'm kinda at my wits end with this conversation too actually. Digital games have been the way the majority play for a long time now. If taking the disc drive out, can save the majority of their fanbase money, and also sell more consoles, it's a no brainer. Win win. It also has the option to add a drive if you want one, the same one many already have...another consumer friendly move....
At this point, it is only right that you (the physical game owner) incur that cost, not the rest of us. Fair is fair.
And before anyone comes in with the argument that the disc drive version of the ps5 sold more, so what, scalpers bought up all Ps5s regardless of edition. Still an issue. But not indicative of people's want for a disc drive. What is though, is that every year the reports come out from these companies, digital vs physical game sales, not mtx revenue, just game sales, digital is OVERWHELMINGLY higher then physical. Some publishers just last years split was over 90/10. EA, more then 80/20. Every year it gets worse and worse.
It's happening. Sorry, but the rest of us are speaking with our wallets, we buy all our games digitally. The platform holders don't want to make physical games anyway, sharing a cut with anyone, additional costs to make a physical product, shipping costs...they don't want to do this, most of their customers don't want it...
Can we just accept reality now? Please? If you want to game like it's 2005, go ahead, but you have to pay to do so. The rest of us, the vast majority, will never play that way, not anymore

Steam sucks as does PC gaming... most people hate PC gaming troubleshooting and cheaters cheaters and more cheaters.. it's the worst way to experience video games.. so yeah PC gaming could get the trash bin ..and steam well nobody plays there anyway ..they could disappear as well ...Xbox took the right steps they would have already taken over they are just going the wrong direction at the minute... but they still have the best games and the best ecosystem by a country mile
