You're teenagers, you've just finished a two hour concert and have been asked to do an encore. Might as well choose something that doesn't stretch you too much when you're already beat. OR!!! If you're animals, you choose this.

This was the 22nd song of the night. A special request by the club owner for an extra encore. This is the end of a blistering almost 2-hour set. 14-year old Ale is almost collapsing from exhaustion. Yet they still deliver. I believe they have a standing invitation to play the Whiskey whenever they want if they are in LA. That's how big of an impression they made after this show.

I'm not sure why people keep saying it was a request from the club owner. They dedicated the song to Steve, the guy that purchased the private show from their Kickstarter campaign to fund the recording of QOTMS. It was on their set list, so it wasn't a last minute addition. It was planned and rehearsed going in, and it was mind blowing for those of us fortunate enough to attend.

I’m a The Warning fan and the comments say it was a 2 hrs set. Why was it a 2 hr set? The only time they do that is in Mexico with their big concerts. Like the Pepsi Center. They are touring right now now and only playing for an hour. What was so special about this gig.

I think she was just having a sigh of relief that she didn't fall. Her heel got caught in the hem of her kimono and she nearly fell on her face. Luckily she caught her bass and her balance and kept rocking. I was standing right in front of her and saw that moment live.

Hi Eric! This was their second appearance at The Whiskey, which they have played 4 times, I believe. This was a show for their Patreon Fans, about a month before I joined, unfortunately for me. They were indeed, 18, 16 and 14 at the time, and had finished a nearly 2 hour set of all originals. They played this as an encore in honor of the organizer of the show being a huge Metallica fan! They were so exhausted, I heard they had to unwind in the green room for half an hour before they could come out and greet the fans. You could see how tired 14yo Ale was in the video. Also, when you are describing Pau, remember she was only 16 and she is barely 5 feet tall and maybe 100lbs soaking wet, and she was playing that HARD and singing after almost 2 hours! And Dany is just plain Wonder Woman! Eric, when they come to Nashville (I think they are doing a festival there this year), you MUST see them to truly appreciate how amazing they are! They are absolutely Gramma's Mashed Potatoes! hahaha

Yes indeed, this was a special show. A handful of us were invited to share a meal with the band post show. It wasn’t a very glamorous affair, as the girls were completely spent. As we all were leaving the Rainbow (where we were eating), I took the time to say thank you. Dany’s reply was “I hope you enjoyed the show”……it would have been impossible not to enjoy it! I could not believe how selfless and giving these three were, and still are.

Knowing the story behind this five year old performance, I find it amazing enough that they could remember how to play the thing! Yet they killed it at the end of a full two hour set. They just have this tenacious work ethic and an almost obedience to their fans and, in this case, honor to their host. Watching Pau and Dany trade lead vocals on this is a mind warp. Ale's just hanging in there like a trooper, waiting to crash when it's all over, but holding steady as a rock to the beat. They earned their keep that night! No wonder they're selling out shows all over Europe and the UK. This sort of performance set the stage for future performances. Check out *Hell You Call a Dream* LIVE at Pepsi Center CDMX. It's awesome, and on The Warning's next album!

Saw this video before and my initial reaction was that it was one of the finest performances I've EVER seen by any band. I'm 67 and my heroes are Hendrix, Allman Bros., Zeppelin, SRV, Paul Simon, etc. Nothing in the last 40 years of music has excited me as much as these young ladies. I almost feel sorry for reactors to The Warning because they run out of superlatives to describe them. It doesn't just blow my mind that they were teenagers when they were performing this, but that they wrote and composed most of their hit songs when they were teenagers. And we're not talking cheesy pop songs. Songs with deep lyrics and top-notch compositions. The other thing that blows my mind is you can name any rock group that I have idolized my whole life - Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Sabbath - and they all have songs that I don't like. I have not heard one single The Warning song that I don't like. I can say that More is my least favorite, but I still like it. IMHO, they are a generational talent, and they are still very young. I can't imagine what they will be like in 10 more years.

You are bang on about the highlight of the show.
Normally melody singing drummers write their drum pattern for a song smartly, by keeping a simpler rhythm for the verses & more complex, demanding parts for transitions, breakdowns & choruses. That way they ensure multi-tasking & breath control don't go out of control. Karen Carpenter, Don Henley, Phil Collins, etc. have done that in the past.
    But here 🤯
It is a drum pattern written by Lars Ulrich, a non-singing drummer, who can afford to be busy throughout the song. To take that busy drumming into your stride & sing lead vocals so passionately requires multi-tasking ability that is extremely rare.
    As rare as Paulina Villarreal.

Dany can shred with the best of them, but she only does what the song needs. And Pau as a singing drummer is the best I have ever seen, I've never seen a drummer sing while beating the hell out of the kit like she does. And Ale, what can I say she is the epitome of perfection and timing, to endure a 2 hour performance at 14 and then end with such a high energy number, she always comes through so well.

DPA/TW played this cover of *Atlas Rise* at the Whisky A GoGo's 55th anniversary, 24 Jan 2019... it was the last song of a 2 hour gig with 22 songs played... the manager of the Whisky is a huge Metallica fan and the girls decided to do this cover for them... they originally played it in The Warning Cave (video available) several years before... they played it at this show with a few days practice and completely knocked it out of the stadium!
you can tell Ale is worn slap out but powers through to the end... i can't say that i blame her...
AFAIK, this is the longest song, cover or original, they have played... this is also the last time they have played a true cover in a public show... no, i don't consider their reimagined rendition of *Enter Sandman* to be a cover... rightfully so... we don't know what the future holds for them but we do know their 4th album, _Keep Me Fed_ , will be released June 28, 2024! 😜 😹

Eric, you did a very good thing for The Warning and their fans. You made a good day even better for the three sisters. They also had an interview that included them and St. Vincent/Annie Clark. I thought of St. Vincent when I heard “Automatic Sun” because the song features some amazing sonic textures that are definitely in St. Vincent’s general palette. I imagined a collab between St. Vincent and The Warning or, at least a guest appearance with TW or just a private jam. Daniela Villarreal asked Annie/St. Vincent whether she’s coming to Mexico City on her current tour and Annie confirmed that she has something special for her stop in Mexico City and they made a plan to take her out for drinks and food. Your reaction was uploaded on the same day as that interview. Thank you!

🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘Loved it. Found the warning through my favourite band, Band-Maid. Saw a video where both bands met I think at a festival and both were so excited to meet one another. I thought if Band-Maid like them so much I should maybe check them out, so I did and love their sound. Going to see them live in Glasgow, Scotland in two weeks time

I played bass 40 years, mainly Rush songs etc,...ROCK ET AL...but this here is absolutely jaw-sinking! After 2 grueling hours? Just shows how in shape Ale's bass fingers AND forearms are. Ask any bass player who uses fingers vs picks. Torture!

My favorite Metallica song (IMO better than ES - yup),but again, another Metallica song The Warning own - and Pau just shows Lars how its done on the drums, using the floor toms instead, and sharing lead vocals (again) with Dany (only niggle is her vocals aren't in the mix where they should be,but still what a treat to see how this young lady just slays it). Before I forget (and I did),Robert Trujillo did comment years back of this performance that "Rob approves"...nuff said.

I knew you'd appreciate this performance by The Warning, and happy see that you immediately grasp the whole "3 teenager girls" standing toe to toe with 4 infamous quite grown men!! The girls have always had that IT factor, starting with their musicianship and continues with their developing artistry. If you want to see a great live performance of an original song by The Warning, I recommend Free Falling at Liceo (their school) - you'll die laughing at how small Ale is compared to her 3/4 scale bass!! Or if you want to go to The Warning's latest and greatest, pick between Hell You Call A Dream Live or the very latest Automatic Sun -- these 2 really highlight the level that The Warning is at right now - I think even TWA is still a bit stunned!!

Yes they killed this. Poor Ale was exhausted but still did what had to be done. To put on a show like this for the fans and then do this song at the end for someone is proof that they will go far.
