    Even in High school wrestling they would make us take a hydration test to make sure we weren't cutting weight. For one reason, because it is unhealthy. It wasn't healthy then, why would it be ok later in life.

    Running is the main reason Thais don't break their shins. I started training after I running cross country for only 2 years (which I was average at) and everyone asks me how I got my shins hard. 10 miles was a light day. Thais run on average 3-5 regularly. And it's hard to explain something that simple to them.

    • @M3Lucky
      @M3Lucky 5 років тому +1

      Interesting, didn't really think about that. Weight lifting would have a similar effect you think? Squats, lunges etc

    • @kaliduncanel3356
      @kaliduncanel3356 5 років тому +2

      @@M3Lucky anything that put repeated loads on the bones. I only mentioned cross country for comment length. But I took strength and conditioning as a highschool elective for 2 years. Track and field( mostly sprinting). And when I wasn't doing those things I was playing basketball on an outdoor blacktop. If I had to make a list I'd put running, sprinting, and jumping on top of it for developing leg bone density which is what your going for as opposed to hardness which may only be surface deep. I'm not perfectly sure about non plyometric lifting even though I did that. Also I'm not sure if Thais lift very much either. I've done more things but I don't want this be a lecture.

    • @marsoc0326
      @marsoc0326 5 років тому +18

      Yup running is a huge part of it.Many trainers will tell you "no run, no fight" especially if youre a sponsored fighter and may even be in your contract. People get stupid trying to hard their shins and find hacks like "roll a bottle down your shin" but the truth is the Thais rarely do that shit because they dont need that. Sam-A or Sagetdao (i forget which one) runs between 10-12 miles everyday. The Thais dont need shin hardening "hacks" because of 3 things: Constant running all their life, lots of skipping rope, and tens of thousands of reps hitting the heavy bag and thai pads. Those 3 things over time will harden your shins like you wouldnt believe.

  • @braxtonhawkes5508

    Think about it, if I cut 20lbs and my opponent cuts 20lbs then neither of us have an advantage. We're literally just making a number on the scale. But if a bigger guy cuts 30lbs and I still only cut 20lbs... then maybe he's got a noticeable advantage but maybe he's overly depleted and it does more harm than good for him. I know some people dislike how boxing has so many different divisions but I think more divisions would be ideal for MMA! Plus it opens up more superfights and you could see triple champs across different divisions haha

    Great Podcast as always. I agree with the weight class elimination. While I enjoy a good freakshow like any other Pride FC fan, I do understand why there are weight classes. BUT... If you got 2 willing participants that can come to a financial agreement as to what they stand to win/loss in a competitive fight then let's roll with it!!! If you wanna fight in your weight class for a belt then cool, if you wanna win the Open Weight belt then that should be a thing that's open to men/women who want to compete on that stage.
    Love the podcast long time listener 👍🤘✌👊😬🍻
    A couple caviats(sp)
    1 no one should be forced to fight open weight
    2 no male vs female fights(obviously) trans and all that folks you make your own call. Just putting out my opinion.
    3 Open Weight contest are the apitamy of true man vs man battle and that belt IMO should hold more money and promotion than any other belt
    If you made it this far thanks!!!
    Again👊✌🤘👍😬🍻

      Will Wade commissions don’t allow fights to happen if there is 40 lbs difference between fighters. And fighters cut almost that much in water so it basically wouldn’t be necessary. It would just be a very messy division.
