ooooh I love this, i have this pedal myself but man u made me fall in love even more and dude i absolutely love the bass faces it makes my day those biig smiles keep it up bully ur amazing!!
I love how you start with every preset and almost instant find a right picking hand position and amount of attack! also you adapt the style to the settings on the pedal! Thats some skills!
Bro, your playing is very deep in the pocket, and the way you explained the pedal was very informative. The type of bassist you are, I hope you do experiment with the filter and octave pedal. It would be an eye opener.
Such a fun effect! I rarely use fx but this is something I might try to use. Thanks Bully. I like the idea of chaining fx together too like you were talking about. Yes, let’s see some more!
Awesome man all setting are funky I have chained the MXR bass compressor and bass pre amp I will try the bass envelope filter with it and see what I get ! Thanks brother
As for which one I like best, it's hard to say. I'm kind of partial to Gorilla Biscuit, just because of the Hoodoo Gurus album "Gorilla Biscuit: b-sides and rarities." If I were performing, I'd probably have a chain with different settings so I could switch between the settings easily.
You know, I was thinking about getting a filter pedal. So far, this one is consistently my fav. I’m thinking I’m gonna go ahead and pull the trigger on this one…..
Yeah, so this is how it goes! 1) You watch this video and love the grooves 2) You purchase the pedal 3) You dial-in the settings from the video 4) You don’t sound like the video 5) You complain that there must be something wrong with the pedal 6) You send it back and demand a refund 7) 😢
Yeah, the sound is in the fingers. And every bass will have a different overall loudness and frequency response. You will at least have to adjust the sensitivity to get closer to the sounds from the video. In the end I think it's a good thing that everybody will sound like themselves and not like anybody else. Envelope Filters can give your playing so much expression. I love them.
Sup bro... thnx for the awesome demo... do you think this would sound good on an avtive bass? Ive read negative things, but i want to try it out with my 2001 Ernie Ball MMSR 4 string. Appreciate your videos.
Mxr envelope filter. No I haven't. And you have to run it before the compressor always... filters work in a dynamic range... they need a loud signal to activate in most situations.
Something tells me you haven't tried a lot of envelope filters if this finicky crackling thing is your favorite. Q-tron+? SA Spectrum?Mutron Microtron? Chromatron/Proton v4? Aguilar Filter Twin? Fwonkbeta? Come on man...
Compressors will have an effect on the filter sweep, but that does not mean you have to put them behind the envelope filter. If the signal ain't loud enough to trigger the filter you can adjust the sensitivity of the filter or the make up gain of the compressor. Sometimes it can sound really nice to use distortion or fuzz in front of the filter, maybe combined with an octave pedal. This makes the bass almost sound like a synth bass. The compression from the distortion/fuzz will compress the dynamic range pretty heavily, but this will result in a more predictable reaction of the filter. The MXR didn't sound to good to me. Felt like the filter opened way too much on high notes and too little on low notes. Might be because of the bass used, but I usually like filters to react more evenly across the frequency spectrum. For solos it can be nice if it opens more on higher notes, but usually you will be playing louder anyways wich will make the filter open more as well.
Problem with this pedal is it distorts really easily, a nasty “crack” sound in the high end, you can hear it in your demos, so you need to have a really low input level = noisy bass sound ….
Bubble Funk is SO fun to just play around in. This was my first pedal because of Thundercat!
Im in the right place cause same 😭 mine arrives today 😁
Bully's Rubber Band! Pedal sounds killer, great lines dude

I don't often use effects pedals, but when I do, it's this one!
He is, the most interesting bass player in the world.
Bro, your playing is very deep in the pocket, and the way you explained the pedal was very informative. The type of bassist you are, I hope you do experiment with the filter and octave pedal. It would be an eye opener.
That bubble funk for sure but I preferred how you tweaked it at the end!! Great stuff!
Cool, thanks!
See how much you loved that sound when you added that dry in, your face changed 😂 it's a great pedal

Active bass
Pretty stinky BTK!!!!!
Yo Bully what about the Fender downtown pedal when you gonna do a review on that one ?
Coming up soon
As you can tell, sometimes there's no effect and sometimes there's too much. That's the inherent flaw with envelopes.
What shirt are you wearing?
How long would it take me to learn bass.
what would you say your favorite envelop filter is and have you tried the WALRUS AUDIO KANGRA also would you run it before a compressor?
Mxr envelope filter. No I haven't. And you have to run it before the compressor always... filters work in a dynamic range... they need a loud signal to activate in most situations.

I was having that issue today. I couldn't get rid of it.
