From what little I was able to find out, Jody was a singer that Richard had been seeing (they were also on Tattletales together as well), but it appears that sometime after they broke up, because Richard didn't marry again until his Family Feud days...

    • @crissrudd4554

Technically after his FF days. He met his future wife on a Feud episode in ‘81, Feud ended its initial run in ‘85, Dawson got married around ‘90, then ‘94 he returned to FF for a year succeeding his successor Ray Combs as host.

Tattletales episode guide has them appearing four weeks between October 1974 and September 1977. Dawson never appeared with a different woman.
I now see he told People magazine in November 1977 that “I always thought there would be another lady after Diana,” he says, “but it just hasn’t worked out that way.” “I’ve got plenty of spending money,” he sighs. “The only thing missing is a lady to share it with.” A reader wrote in to ask about Jody and Dawson replied, “I’ve known Jody for three years and invited her on the show because she’s a wonderful singer and it’s a good way to get exposure.”

    H/H match update:
    ...
Where does the time go? We're up to week 124/291 of our favorite classic game show, and this time we'll see 1975 pass into history, with the shiny new Match Game '76 logo being unveiled before the week is done. (I'm sure I'll be dating my checks 1975 for at least another month or two!) These episodes were taped on November 30, 1975 and were originally broadcast on December 29-31, 1975 and January 2 and January 5, 1976.
This week our stalwart regulars Brett, Richard, and Charles are joined by semi-regular Fannie in the sixth seat with her 52.6% accuracy score, the best on today's panel.
Dick Martin is back for his second week. (He first joined the panel in episodes 436-440). Dick will go on to appear for a total of 22 weeks and will become one of the few celebs to sit in all three "male" seats over the run of the show (Gary shares this distinction). Dick's final appearance will be on the next-to-last week of Match Game '79, when he occupies the third seat (CNR's seat).
Dick wasn't chosen for the H/H match during his first week.
(Trivia: As Gene points out, Dick's wife, Dolly Martin, was in chair #4 for the week of episodes 516-520. She'll return for her second and final week in 1978 for episodes 1376-1380.)
Jody Donovan rounds out the panel. This is her one and only week on the program. Gene unfortunately calls her Judy @ 8:13...
My two burning questions this week: 1) Did Dick bring a change of clothes this week, or will he go the entire week in the same outfit like he did his first week? 2) Is anyone but Richard going to get to play the H/H this week? Please?
Well, let's sit back, enjoy, and see what happens this week!
    Today's action:
Well, after the traditional kissing and the chit-chat with the champ, we start right out out where we left off last time...
...our two-time champ had just won $500 on the audience match and was about to select his celebrity partner for the head-to-head match when time ran out and the panel erupted in Christmas Eve festivities. (By the way, did you catch Gary being Charles's cuddle bunny in the closing seconds of the last show? I'm surprised no one commented on it.)
And the suspense has been killing me! Just kidding. I'm 99.99% sure he'll choose Richard again. (If he does, it'll be 13 times in row for Mr. Dawson.)
    Indeed. It's Richard.
    Today's question: "Pit ________ "
Hmm. I want to say Pit Bull, but I can't remember if that breed was well-known back then. Pit Boss comes to mind. But I think Pit Stop is my best bet trying to match Richard.
Richard didn't have his usual immediate inspiration. He glances toward Jody, scratches his neck, and looks puzzled for a moment. Finally, he looks toward Fannie and writes his response. I could swear I saw him write a T, so maybe he did say Stop.
Oh dear. The contestant says "Pit-Pat." I'm 99.99% sure Richard didn't write that. The audience didn't seem enthused by that answer either.
Richard mentions pit boss and wrote pit stop! (I swear, I always write my answers before hearing the contestant's response and before seeing the celeb's answer!)
No match today. (Richard has now matched 5 of the past 13 H/H matches.)
Here's the updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy:
    Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts).
    Gary Burghoff - 83.3% (5 wins in 6 attempts).
TIE: Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts).
TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts).
    Fannie - 52.6% (10 wins in 19 attempts).
    Betty - 46.9% (15 wins in 32 attempts).
    Charles - 45.2% (19 wins in 42 attempts).
Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts).
    Richard - 40.2% (141 wins in 351 attempts).
    Brett - 38.0% (19 wins in 50 attempts).
    Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts).
*These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 616, excluding the lost/missing episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")

I was under the impression that Fannie said it as a joke, addressing a fictional judge. She does it in a later episode with another woman's name. (Audrey is Brett's original first name.) Fannie teases Richard about being a ladies' man (or being a chick magnet) often.
