1:00 I mean sometimes I like setting an alarm to wake up 🤷🏻♀️
Hmm, same.
Ya same like really thing it out
I learned that people somehow don't know that fire is a source of light.
Yes
I learned that the american education system is bullshit
1 candle = 1 lumen
Alastair Turner is this a joke or are you just proving my assumption
@@davidl.8722my intent was to make luminescence easier to understand. if a torch is advertised as 1800 lumen then you can imagine the brightness of 1800 candles
The handle is there for nostalgia. There saved you some time.
It's for rope. They are wrong.
I figured it would be so you could hang it in a cabinet
I thought it was for hanging on my garage pegboard. Next to the Spatula and Skillet. The butter keeps sliding down though.
Lmao
Thank you
Another tip about the tape measure - you will notice that the tip is always slightly loose. The reason for that is to account for the space that the tip takes depending on if you are measuring the inside or outside demensions of an object.
I had no idea
10:02 for anyone who came here JUST for the tiny handle.
Edit: I got notified of this comment after a year and damn that's a lot of people. You're welcome. Hope you're all doing great.
Thank you!

All I wanted to do was see the little handle on the maple syrup jar...
thelastonegone27 me too !!!!!!!
*Thank me later:* The handle comes from the time where maple syrup was sold in 5 gallon jugs, they decreased its size and so did the handle.

I was shocked to find out that a flame cannot cast a shadow. When I was a high school junior, I did my advanced chemistry research paper on the chemical and physical properties of the candle. There was a written and oral portion. During the oral portion I lit a candle in the darkened room and threw a strong spot light upon it. I guess the white part of the flame wasn't actually casting a shadow. It must have been a figment of my, my instructor's and the 21 other students' imaginations. I guess my grade should be changed. I don't deserve to have graduated with honors.
Not a line and a circle, its a Binary One (1) and Zero (0).
@Dan Phil He's right though. It's based off of binary. One is typically for yes and zero is for no. On or off respectively.
@@Sujad It represents an open circuit and a closed circuit.

Just a little correction on the military uniform flags. Only soldiers who have been deployed to a war zone are authorized to wear the forward facing flag. All other military personnel are required to wear the regular flag.
Actually runway numbers have nothing to do do with telling pilots which runway is "suitable" for landings vs. takeoffs. They simply indicate the direction it faces, but landing and takeoffs can be done on any runway and usually depend on the direction the wind is blowing at the time.
This information will come in handy. Thank you.
Light Science Studios "landing and takeoffs can be done on any runway and usually depend on the direction the wind is blowing at the time."
Correct, and the wind direction is given in magnetic degrees. So the runway numbers DO tell the pilot which runway is suitable, and in which direction a particular runway is to be used. (And in the case of parallel runways, the two-digit number will also be followed by either an R or an L, for "right" or "left," and the pilot uses the particular runway the controller instructs him or her to use.)
SeikiBrian yes that’s correct. The way they stated it was just a little off and didn’t quite communicate it clearly.
No, landing runways have springs built into the tarmac so the plane bounces just a bit absorbing most of the energy. Otherwise the plane would break up from the impact forces. Take off runways are built to be as hard as possible to allow the plane to propel itself into the sky from a very firm footing. It's all about the bouncyness and hardness. Numbers under 180, typically in the 20's or 30's have medium springiness for passenger jet landings. Take off runways have hardness's of 180+ Luckily, pilots know this stuff, even if the UA-cam community doesn't!
John, do you have any source material for what you're saying?
I sometimes think people make some of these up because there is literally no answer to them
“It’s supposed to tell the time, not waste it.” 🤣
“Go ahead I’ll wait” keeps talking right after saying that
Maple Syrup bottle handles are there so you can break the cap free when it crystalizes or you can hang it from the ceiling to keep it warmer in winter. It's called a "stay loop" and it's to guide the positioning of cord wrapped around the neck of the bottle so the cord stays on the strong part. Its why on other bottles there are two stay-loops.
Thank you, I didn't want to hear that duesh talk about ear plugs and apple products

3:15 it's a 1 and a 0, not a line and an O. It's binary code for on and off.
Nope, it's electricity flow, the line shows a closed circuit, or on, and the circle is an open circuit, or off.
Actually James would be correct. It's a binary code that us PLC programmers use (they can be programmed to N.O. or N.C.) to start things. Most times they're used for a seal in circuits for machines however the binary code can be used to turn off or on (the 1 is on, 0 off) and is universal, therefore everyone uses it so there isn't a confusion.
THANK YOU.. It was KILLING me. As a developer it was cringe worthy for me lmao

How do you forget what side your gas cap is on???😂😂😂😂
3 things surprises me. 1. Having to watch the whole video just to get to the handle. 2. Not using the pointer to look for it. 3. Not reading Akira's comment with the heads ups.
"Those holes are not waterproof".
Are any holes? I thought that was the nature of holes?
lol
Waterproof fabric can have teeny holes.

well i suppose a black hole is water proof but then again it aint really a hole
Actually, a flame does have a shadow. If you aim a stronger source of light towards it it will show. This is because a flame is heated carbon particles and they do block light.
In the shot with the green candle, you can actually see the shadow the flame casts.
Think about it it doesn’t have a shadow until u shine a brighter light on it because the fire would produce light on the shadow
Eh
Nothing has a shadow until you shine a brighter light on it.

the only reason i watched this whole stupid vid was to find out y syrup bottles have handles, and its coz they used to be 5 gallon bottles, which had handles that were probably of use on a bottle that size, but when they reduced the bottle size they never removed the handle design.waste of time.
nila phillips thank you I can now leave the video
nila phillips
Same 😣
About 200 years before 5 gallon bottles were in use there was a container, made of earthenware, with a form of handle on its side, used to collect maple sap from maple trees. This was hooked to a spike, secured on the maple tree at a 45 degree angle. The sap was fed to the jug.Later boiled.Sediment falling to the bottom. The pure syrup is then separated & stored in a clean jug sealed (originally with wax or cork)Mighty fine on your pancakes too.
nila phillips why did you just not skip to that part chill
Oh my word, you are a wonderful human being. Thank you.
The maple syrup is at 10:01
trixsta54 the handle isn't for pouring, so what is it for? It's for pouring when the jug was bigger.
Think about that fail.
The catch up container one was soo cool I never noticed that
Who else looked at the clock right when he said that
The numbers on runways DO correspond to compass directions, however they do NOT correspond to which runway is “made for landing or taking off”. Airplanes takeoff and land on certain runways depending on wind direction. If the wind favors runway 32, planes will takeoff and land on the same runway, in the same direction, to fly the plane into the wind, allowing for more lift, control, and slower landing speeds.
Thanks captain
9:28 Are some people actually so stupid that they think why light has no shadow?
sjdjdijfj uer4vvyhu lol apperantly
Yes. yes they are!
Melly Lee There are more things that people should know but they dont :)
Well if a brighter light source is shone onto the flame, yes it will cast a shadow. So it's not as silly as it sounds. You can actually see a faint shadow from the flame on the candle because either a lamp or camera flash was lighting it up.
9:39
The one that surprises me the most is the flame without a shadow
0:43 thats why the sound of it is soo good and i can hear stuff well

I did too. But I did tap my L key a bunch of times throughout the video and don't feel the need to rewatch.
Sean O'Skea I think it's because we were all lured in by the tiny handle on the maple syrup, and we had to wait for that one till the very end!
The stars sit on the left when its flown on a flagpole? Wouldn’t that depend on where the observer is standing or upon which way the wind blows? Can’t believe I sat through all of this video just to find out what the little handle on a jar of syrup is for
I had the same curiosity but it ended up being quite disappointing 😂

The universal symbols for "On" and "off" are just icons for 1 and 0, which are the mathematical representations for on and off in digital electronics engineering (barring the use of negative logic).
Another secret of the measuring tape edge is why the edge always attaches loosely on the end of the tape: the slack is supposed allow you to measure accurately whether you hook the edge over the side or if you push it up against a wall.
Exactly the two things I also thought were weird in the video.
Wasted 10 minutes of my life...
I just wasted 2 more mins reading the comments, but the comments are better than the video. lol
Laapapapa
I knew a lot of these
Laapapapa 🍆💦💦🙄
tmpEngine here's some for your face 🍆💦💦😛 you idiot.
The end of a tape measure is movable so your measurements are accurate whether you push it against what you're measuring or hook it over what you're measuring, also on a completely different subject, wheelbarrows frames are shaped the way they are so you can run them into each other like train cars to push several at once by yourself
10:23 Wtf is that logo?!?!😂😂😂😂🤣
It looks like a kid peeing into a bucket🤣
😂 😂 😂
It's the shape of the State of Vermont with a maple sap tap in the left side of it, with sap dripping into a bucket.
Another fact that should be on this list is that these kinds of videos are much more tolerable on 2× speed

4:05 I've actually been looking for this arrow but I've never seen it in any of the cars I've driven.
a l it's usually only on American card
my fiesta had it, but then i bought a carolla and bam, no arrow
My car literally has the words "fuel door >"
I'm not using those ketchup containers wrong, that's how they're meant to be used
I can't believe the gas filler indicator got past me for all these years. I liked that one a lot.
The Chinese food containers was interesting too.
Gas filler side is the side of the nozzle unless there is an arrow by it
I really believe chinese food containers are flat for shipping then put together in a box to support the food inside without leaking out the bottom. LOL But if you really need to eat it on a flat round thing, just dump it on a plate when you get home. (take out) :-)
@@steverpcb that's not true...at least not in my car. It's a Honda.
The power button is not a flat line and a circle. It is a one and a zero. Like binary.
Ticalion that's not true
Yes it is. Its a on/off condition. 1 or 0.
Not an expert but I always thought it was an open and closed circuit sign in one
yes that is where the standard symbol comes from 1 for on 0 for off ...
Ticalion, you are right, not even the video guy knew this.

I'm really disappointed that there wasn't a practical reason for the tiny handle on a syrup jar. I watched this whole video to find out.

The holes in pot handles are for hanging the pan. Only. See if you can fit a wooden spoon handle through that hole. What about the ring that hangs from older pans? Yeah. That's also for hanging the pan.
Thank you. As a guy who cooks for a living, every time I hear someone break out the old "It's to hold your spoon!
line, I want to pull my hair out.
It's downright unsafe to put anything in the hole. The pan could tip onto the floor, scalding someone.
Dick Head Unsafe to put anything in the hole lololol hahahaha. Sorry.
When you put a spoon in there it's almost vertical, making it drip onto the stovetop.
+dick head + chris skuller i have several pans were this works well, and unless you use a Spoon thats made out of lead you wont have any trouble for the pan tipping over, and if youre smart you turn the handle over the rest of the oven so if it tips it wont fall. +spooky drinks too much yeah, some are designed really bad. mostly works with oval holes.
The power button does not represent a line and a circle but a one and zero. In binary 1 is on and 0 is off.
android272 it’s literally the same thing that was explained
It's is both, I believe. Circuitry is why line and circle work.
“The symbol for the standby button was created by superimposing the symbols "|" and "o"; however, it is commonly interpreted as the numerals "0" and "1". Yet the IEC holds these symbols as a graphical representation of a line and a circle.“

ANSWER FOR THE THUMBNAIL:
It’s used to hang the syrup up. Not that big.
Thank you!!
Just pull the ketchup containers apart. That's totally how you're supposed to use them. What a load.
The tape measure end has another feature people tend to miss. It is loose for a reason. When measuring the inside versus outside of something. The amount the end tab moves is supposed to account for the thickness of the tab itself.
Dave Post did you know also if you were measuring say inside a window sill instead of bending the tape you can butt the tape measure to the other end and somewhere on the tape measure says the length of the tape housing. Its on almost all tape measures.
when measuring my penis do I get the extra length? every mm counts ˓(ᑊᘩᑊ⁎)
It isn't an I for On and a Circle for off, it is binary, and it is a One and a Zero. In binary, a one is a closed, or completed circuit meaning On and the zero is an open circuit, meaning Off, as electricity won't flow in that configuration.
Thank god somebody said it. I got so frustrated at his description of it.
But... thats the reason why 1 is on an 0 is off. So both are technically correct.
shanidar : I like wish both those words did not start with the same and I mean identical letter......."
shanidar was arguing that "I" wasn't on and "Circle" wasn't off, so no. the maker of this video isn't correct.
Andromeda Wolf would be correct if he said "one" and "zero" instead of "line" and "circle" proving his total lack of understanding of the meaning.
The gas tank is obvious. I'd like to see how many people are actually amazed that their cars have working turn signals 🤨🤣🤓

The "ketchup holder" is not for just ketchup, it's for any dip really. Also, it's not made for just fries, it's made for anything that needs a dip.
To be fair, some people like to dip the burger itself into ketchup, but you have to really like ketchup.
I already knew more than half of these fact😂, I guess it was still fun to watch
If you put a spoon in a pot handle, whatever you were stirring will run down the handle of the spoon. ( damn that evil gravity!!! )
The holes ARE for hanging them.
You forgot to mention that the "1" and "0" are derived from binary where "1" stands for on and "0" stands for off.
