@@variks567 I'm guessing it's just really inconsistent. I was one of the people who got really unlucky when trying to get them and complete all the research tasks, same problem with Aipom. You can actually get up on top of the mountains surrounding the lake in the tutorial section (before talking to Mai or getting Wyrdeer). There is one spot you can climb on foot -- it's near Alpha Luxio.
@@zuthalsoraniz6764 I think these two are very different. I consider the lake Verity top as a secret hidden spot that you can access in the early game if you go out of the way to do that. Also if you don't go to these high places in the Feildlands, you won't be able to get sky tumblestones to craft Feather balls. It's also pretty questionable if that place is considered "sequence breaking" since you normally don't need to go there for any reason. The pokemon that spawn up there are just evolutions of pokemon that spawn down the mountain, except the one Togekiss that's flying above the lake.
I've actually managed to catch Remorade in the Crimson Mirelands, already. It spawns in the water next to the "hidden"/"obscured" area near the Roselia spawn there. In that area you find a few Ralts, too.
Great vid!! Learned a lot watching it. This is a lot more hardcore than I thought it would be. That satchel grind in the fieldlands is absolutely ridiculous sounding. I had no idea they make them progressively spawn in more frequently as you progress - good info to have. Also didn't know you could catch those Qwilfish early, either.
"-a ten-year-old is smarter than him-" John's editor (presumably himself?): *inserts the scene where Cylene says you're 15 immediately afterwards* Great job everyone
Yes! Another Legends challenge! I've watched the perfect Pokedex challenge SO many times now while grinding for my own perfect dex - I'm about a third of the way there now!
I was thinking that entire video like... yeah! I can do this task! Until I saw the end. Capping points at 99,990 is so lame and not even a single pokeball for a reward for perfect dex
One thing I always keep as a rule for myself tbh is 'if there's a feed x times one try to do it' as it is an easy 5-10 levels of research for level 10. And after a freak accident that reset all my legends arceus data, I've been doing that for a fair handful of entries, because I would like to get the shiny charm again pretty fast.
I did this in my original run and you and I noticed a couple differences. The first one is that I didn't know you could catch Qwilfish in the Fieldlands, and the second one is that I was struggling to come to terms with the fact that I'd have to beat Arcanine without Magnezone, but it actually spawned! I definitely didn't know about the thunderstone.
Climbing up the cliff in the Obsidian Fieldlands to get the flying Togekiss should 100% be required because you can walk up there. You don't need any Wyrdeer shenanigans, literally walking can get you there.
Great! Let's start a Professor Laventon's challenge, you need to gain as many research points as possible before each boss! This includes finishing each and every possible research task in the Pokedex, like catching 30 bidoofs, using 70 Thunders with Raichu, using 100 Strong style moves with Machamp, and defeating 10 Cherubis before fighting Kleavor. Thrust me, the last one is the most fucking difficult one.
I personally did "Get as many stars before going to the second area". Got to 9 stars on the first area and then got bored, i made a reddit post and then never touched the game again ^^'
I also tried this too, and I got my 10th star in the Mirelands....Then I decided to see when my research points max out. That happened in the Coastlands...... what should I do next?
I once did a very long challenge of catching every pokémon you can and getting all dex researches possible in "Route 1" of this game. That is, everything you can accomplish before ranking up and crossing that bridge in Obsidian Fieldlands, and without connecting to friends or importing pokémon. I ended up grinding so hard that two of my pokémon reached lv100 (beating or catching alpha Alakazam and Snorlax did much of that). The hardest thing was finding enough thunder stones to evolve enough amounts of Eevee and Pikachu to get the tasks done for Jolteon and Raichu. It took me 75 hours of gameplay to get the whole challenge done and I redeemed 17,7k research points at once, which took me straight to 7 stars.
This was a fun video to watch. I’m currently rewatching the other Professor Oak videos. I’m curious to know how would this challenge work when trying to do it in BDSP. It would be a fun stream to watch you planning and executing this

“It took me nearly an hour and a half to get find a peat block” So when I got it first try, died and lost it, then got it third try, was I super lucky?

I managed to reach that island in the Crimson Mirelands on my first visit with a ridiculously precise jump from Wyrdeer. So anything there can be caught before you battle Lilligant.
When I did my play through of this game I didn’t really know what a POC was but I ended trying to catch everything I could before I moved on with the story cause I wanted to be a perfectionist about it. I probably missed some of the harder ones you did here because I was playing casually but I think the fact that I not only caught all the Pokémon but also did at least 10 of the pokedex quests to get their icon filled in might have made up the difference.
I remember playing LA like this. Since exp was so easy to obtain and catching pokemon was a breeze, I made it a priority to catch every pokemon available before moving to the next area, and a few some other time. Im pretty sure that alone allowed me to exit the first area with around a 7-8 star rank. Rank ups were slow afterwards but i still stsyed firm to my promise and i had pretty much all besides the mythicals, giratina and weather genies caught before fighting Volo and finished the game with a living dex. PLA is too fun for its own good imo, despite everything but the main gameplay being lackluster.

"And with Pokemon like Rhyperior on the team, this was an absolute cakewalk." Yeah, Rhyperior, a rock and ground type which is weak to grass and fighting.
You can start the fight with a noble and lose the fight to get a warp point to the arena which can be used in the first section before kleavor to get to blissey a bit faster.

I spent the first 150 hours completing the Pokédex before even crossing the first bridge where Mai is at with level 60s lol
Fun fact from my personal experience; if you have Ursaluna on your team with a move set containing Thunder punch, Bulldoze and play rough, you can actually solo Volo and Giratina WITHOUT need to switch Pokémon as most Pokémon used in these fights either CANNOT hit Ursaluna or are destroyed by it's raw power combined with super effective attacks. Most of Volo's team are weak to either ground or fairy type moves, so you can use that to sweep him. Giratina CANNOT hit Ursaluna with 2 of it's moves and hits for neutral with 2, but Ursaluna is defensively bulky enough to make that moot. 2 strong style play roughs take care of each of Giratina's formes.
my favourite part about this professor oak challenge is that it's slow to get going, but when it starts moving it really starts moving. the fieldlands takes anywhere from a few weeks to a month, the mirelands takes anywhere from a few days to a week, and then i managed to clean out the coastlands and highlands in the same day. it takes so long to start but as soon as you're done with the fieldlands the hard work is over and you can just relax and catch pokemon.

Oshawott hate in my pokemon video, Unacceptable.
But really, what's wrong with oshawott? He's just a guy.
And he’s just doing his best
Exactly
I found your channel recently and must say I love every video of yours. Congrats!!
Just rewatched your challenge for sinnoh today. This is acceptable.
my favourite part about this professor oak challenge is that it's slow to get going, but when it starts moving it really starts moving. the fieldlands takes anywhere from a few weeks to a month, the mirelands takes anywhere from a few days to a week, and then i managed to clean out the coastlands and highlands in the same day. it takes so long to start but as soon as you're done with the fieldlands the hard work is over and you can just relax and catch pokemon.
holy poggeronis new johntent
great video!!!! can't wait for the one next week!!!
