I also agree that refusing to accept the free item offered could seem patronising and insulting. On another note, these vlogs are absolutely amazing, I look forward to your uploads daily! Keep it up, and keep proving to the world that these seemingly ‘dangerous’ places are the complete opposite!

You guys exude a genuineness and sincerity which I think is reciprocated by the people. It's all good! (Also, if you noticed, only men go into the qahwa shops like that. but they all behaved very nicely. I lived in Pakistan for years but never made it into Peshawar. seems pretty cool)

its true, afghans would take serious offence if you did not take a 'gift' from them or if you forced to pay them.Seriously muslims in afghanistan and pakistan have big hearts, even though they have small pockets (are poor). They are genuinely happy westeners are visiting.
kachalo in pashto arbi in urdu When boiled and eaten with chatni ... it is called kachalo payra locally. Taro is a root vegetable. It is the most widely cultivated species of several plants in the family Araceae that are used as vegetables for their corms, leaves, stems, and petioles. Taro corms are a food staple in African, Oceanic, East Asian, Southeast Asian and South Asian cultures.
to be honest i am very impressed by their hospitability, they just gifted it to you without even knowing you. they are so generous. I am pround of all Pushtoons (Puktoons, Pashtoons).

Excellent vids guys. Your chapli kebabs looked so interesting I looked up a recipe on youtube and cooked them tonight. What a flavour bomb. Was able to source all the spices required. Sitting here feeling quite ill as I ate so much. Keep up the great work
I am in Germany but from a year I am craving for what you are having at 48:55. It is a kind of potatoe that is boiled and then eaten with sauery sauce with cucumber and onions slices. a bit chilli ish and tamarind sauce ....
That potato like tuber is called Taro Root. Arbi in Urdu. Also strongly suspect either the chutney or the salad that may be improperly washed or the tap water it's washed in is what got you.
At the end you ate delicious 'kachalu' 😋 in english its called Taro root. Sauce was 'dried mango, yogurt, fresh mint and coriander chatni with lime and vinegar' Which is only cultivated nearby peshawar. I have never seen any foreign travel vlogger who has tried it. But its very famous in local people of khyber pakhtoonkhwa.
