Thank you so much for being so thorough. Other vids seem to rush through the removal of bolts/cables etc. without explaining how (or where they are located). Yours goes through each step logically and systematically. As someone with very little auto-mechanical expertise, this is perfect and easy to follow. Thank you for saving me a lot of time and heartache :)
Never did a tuneup on one of these took me about an hour and a half and half way through noticed the oil on my plugs i wish i had seen this video first lol now i need to break it all down again to fix that but you made it look super easy thanks !!
did the front one last night. a couple things that are not mentioned here regarding the front one: the two front bolts are pretty difficult to get to, very narrow space. got them out with a frankenstein combination of swivel adapter and bunch of wobble extensions. also, the engine hook has to come off in order for the cover to actually come out. friendly tips :) good luck everyone
Good job, thanks for the video. The end was the money shot. Replacing the individual gaskets for the sparkplugs. That's where the oil must be coming from.
Dude, you kick ASS! This video is awesome and it's exactly what I want to do. I especially appreciate that you didn't speed up any of it and allowed me to really see the whole process in its entirety.
Very helpful to get to the Cam Bearing Caps to check and tighten as everyone suggests after finding they come too loose over time. I don't mind pulling those hoses since I've come across many dry rotted on my 20 year old Escape.
I should have made a video when I did this. 2011-2012 v6 3.0L are the two I know would be the same.. Each bolt for the valve cover has a seal that can/should be replaced when doing the cover gasket Just cut the old one off and push the new one on There is a new seal for the valve timing solenoids as well make sure to replace those Each plug has a seal Make sure you get out any pieces of old gasket you drop in that mfer Clean clean clean the surface where gasket sits cover and head side if you are doing this, do the intake manifold gaskets too Problem once you get into high mileage with the 3.0 atleast the valve covers leak, the oil goes down and overwhelms the gaskets on the lower intake, dries them out, oil gets into the intake Oil gets into your injector seals. you may have to replace injector seals but cleaning them should be ok. Oil gets into your spark plugs Blue smoke flies out the tail pipe and this thing starts dragging - after the fix shes back to life tho
All of the connections are different sizes and in different places. They can't be confused with others. It's not necessary to tag things on this specific motor and car. I've worked on plenty of these 3.0 escape and variants. Cheers.
Excellent job!! I have to do this to my 2005 Ford Escape 3.0. Also have to replace power steering pump and hoses. Do you have any videos on this process?
What did you torque the valve cover bolts to? Also do you recommend torqueing the cap bolts? I removed my radiator cause it has a leak and I'm going to work on the front gaskets.
This is the same engine with 2006 Ford Fusion SEL v6. However, the design on the Escape makes it much easier to get access to the rear bank. There is much room to work at the back and No power steering container sitting on the valve cover.
+Alan Dane We are glad to hear that the video was helpful. It took us about less than an hour. If you ever need help with your vehicle let us know you can also find us on Our Official Facebook Page here: facebook.com/worldmechanicsofficialpage/?fref=ts
Great video! Is the rear cover exactly the same as the front one? The front one has the oil spout, but will the same part fit the rear? I cannot find the rear cover because they only sell the front one.
The 2 bolts in the middle of valve cover broke as I was tightening to specs. All other bolts are tighten to specs. Can I still drive the car with the 2 center bolts not tighten or will damage happen to transmission?
Great video. Thank you for posting. How much do you think is a fair price for this repair? My local auto shop quoted me $662 plus tax. Seemed to be way too much which is what brought me to UA-cam.
$40-60 for parts. If you are mechanically inclined then maybe shop around if you know your way around a tool and have data on a portal device that can play UA-cam videos then it's time to get greasy.
Hi there, I have seen a lot of your videos and there isn't one that I don't like. I did this at the same time I replaced the spark plugs and ignition coils. Is it normal for smoke to come from the engine upon starting for the first time after this? it apparently comes from behind the radiator and between engine and firewall (where the new gaskets are). It doesn't smell like burnt oil, I'm assuming it's the gaskets getting cooked
Buenas tardes.alguien le a tocado reemplazar el retén de árbol de levas de admisión de la cabeza delantera de una escape 05 motor 3.0 pero el que va del lado de la bomba de agua?
I wouldnt pry the valve cover at all!!!!! Also when you take hoses off dont force them off with a flat blade underneath unless you want vac leaks! Be very delicate with this job! fucking anything up will cause a bigger issue!!!! Other-wise. Thanks Russian underwater guy!
They are not showing all of the clean up time......a shop will clean the inside of the covers, and all of the mating surfaces on the block......and it takes a lot longer to put it back together. Above I saw someone state that they got a quote for $600 to do this.......not even close. This is a $300 job
+Brittany Gumm did you mean not easy to remove the front bolts or the valve cover gasket was stuck? If you ever need help with your vehicle let us know you can also find us on Our Official Facebook Page here: facebook.com/worldmechanicsofficialpage/?fref=ts
I'm working on removing the front valve cover (03 Ford Escape V6) and I'm stuck and not because of any of the bolts. I noticed that I would need to remove the engine lifting bracket but the bolt is so tight and tight fit for breaker bar even with an extension. Do I need to remove the engine lifting bracket? Any suggestions and tips to get the front cover off? Thank you
yes you do. what I did to remove it was pit a pipe over the breaker bar to increase the torque on the socket. had the same problem with he breaker bar. Just make sure to tighten it just as tight.
I managed to do it without removing the engine lifting bracket, so it is possible. I'm not saying it was easy, it took a lot of wiggling and I had to push the radiator as much as it will go towards the front of the car. That is the key, I think.

You don't need to remove the spark plugs?

Thanks for the tips. ANy additional tips on removing the engine hook? I'm having real trouble getting that bolt off the engine hook bracket.
Just bend the hook, then the cover will come off.
Good job, thanks for the video. The end was the money shot. Replacing the individual gaskets for the sparkplugs. That's where the oil must be coming from.
Yours is still leaking? These engines are garbage

Very good
great video, you guys rock.. I like the gold ring while working on the car? :), but great video
Thank you for all your help
Mark all of the connections and take pictures! Putting it back together will be much, much easier!
All of the connections are different sizes and in different places. They can't be confused with others. It's not necessary to tag things on this specific motor and car. I've worked on plenty of these 3.0 escape and variants. Cheers.
Thanks for the very efficient video.
Good video covers all the bases
Excellent job!! I have to do this to my 2005 Ford Escape 3.0. Also have to replace power steering pump and hoses. Do you have any videos on this process?
Guess I should’ve been a mechanic who works with all that jewelry on. LOL
Nice video thanks. 2004 Mzda 6 s V6 is same engine.
me gusto el video muy bien esplicado paso por paso gracias por el video
Good video and information.....
Great job
Treat your car and it will treat you 👍, this is my next project for my escape thank you
Thanks nice info.
good video it will help with the one i have to do. :)
Thank you! If you have any questions let us know.
thanks for sharing this video ....

how do you get the front one off I can't get mine out
Thanks 👍👍✌️

what type of silicon are you applying to the gap when you are installing the new valve cover gasket?
Very nice video, it helped out a bunch, thanks!!! How long did it take you?

great
do you know if this is the same engine as the mazda 3.0 v6 18V 1996 ?
I believe so.

He said don’t get anything in the motor hhaha then he puts the cover face down on the ground 🤔🤭🤫

Please turn off the background music. It's not loud it's just distracting when trying to listen to you.
So I've always heard that this costs MAJOR money at the shop but you did it in 10 minutes...wtf???
It isn't a hard job, just lentghy and you're paying by the hour.

@@stevemollis5416 today's prices 2022 is more 600 to 800 dollars.
The front one is not as easy to remove. No wonder he skipped that part.
