This was brilliant! Rathbone was sooo classically Holmes, the best ever in my view though many brilliant actors have done the role very proud. Rathbone looks right, has the most marvellous voice and was a superlative actor 😊
They are so corny that they're good. Nothing like kicking back, wearing a Clipper Craft suit, hair well groomed with Kreml and sipping on some Petri Sherry while enjoying a SH adventure.
Thanks! The only way these old radio shows could be better would be listening to them on my Grandfathers vintage 1930’s vacuum tube radio, an ornate black hardwood case with a huge lighted dial. Instead I have an iPhone, much more convenient, but not quite the same ambiance. 😕 Still I really appreciate you making these available. I have a dozen of these show collections archived, but these Sherlock Holmes one are the oldest by 10 years. 84 years old since this aired, how cool is that?! Thank you again! 👍🙏
The films of the Hound of the Baskervilles and Adventures of Sherlock Holmes were both released on Sept 1st 1939 and the radio series started on Oct 2nd with The Sussex Vampire.
I FRIGGING LOVE THESE old radio broadcast from the 20's-40's. Sherlock Holmes are THE best. Nigel is THE best Watson.
This Duo is Sherlock and Watson whom I enjoy immensely. But I have found Sherlock Holmes and Dr.Watson from the early 1980,s is Very good.
Only Basil and Nigel are the real, true Holmes and Watson.

Bruce was extremely good too, watch him Treasure island it's a great pity the scripts watered down Watson to such an extent.
