Nice joint! When you're removing wood from the front piece (creating the negative space for the tails to sit), it's easier to remove the bulk of wood by using your chisel parallel to the grain of the wood (the tip of the chisel goes between fibers and the wood is weaker in this dimension) after using the chisel to cut through the fibers along the knife line. The way you did it required you to cut across the wood fibers numerous times which takes more physical effort and also dulls your chisel faster.

great work - well done. Wouldn't be fun doing this 4 times for a box, but worth it in the end.

Its not bad with a router and a dovetail jig. Once you have that setup it's pretty cut and dried to do then. Just takes a lot of test cuts to set it up.

I agree, doing it by hand at least, really drags out your project. I only do it for the fancy stuff. Also, they’re kinda fun to do too 😄

I love that tight fit at the end! What type of marking knife are You using? Is it from Rob Cosman, or it just looks similar?

The knife is a Swann Morton marking knife. It’s nice.

You can get those off Amazon. I use one, blades are large enough to resharpen easily too. I’m cheap, what can I say.

More trash on internet to make people more ignorant. Amateurs without knowledge or experience giving lessons is the worst of this world

Confession through projection? I wouldn't cut DT's by hand unless I was making something worth the effort, but why hate on a guy for showing how to make half-blinds?

It wasn’t a “lesson”. Not one word was spoken the whole time, he just did the work and it fit together perfectly. How is he an amateur and how does this make people ignorant? You should pull that stick out of your rectum.

Nice work Josh. The Latin root of the word "amateur" is amor, someone who pursues a pastime out of their love of it. I'm curious Estudio Hayabusa, do you troll professionally or practice because you're passionate about it?
