Thank youu. Its the law of supply and demand I guess. With the help of social media different plants get spotlights at different times, hence skewing the demand side suddenly. But most plants are wonderful and they will take turns taking this spotlight. If they are out of budget now its worth waiting for prices to stabilize.
I enjoyed watching the Raven ZZ Plant going from crazy expensive, to picking one up in my grocery store for 10 dollars while I grabbed some eggs. *Take that plant instagram*

Part of my favorite thing is seeing plants in person. It makes it so much easier to decide. I loves Monsters deliciosa but I'm trying green one before getting either a Thai constellation or Albo, or even Aurea or Mint. My last two green died quickly. Advice try green first to test it out in your space
As thrilled as I am to hear that the prices are dropping on some of these rare plants, as someone who got into collecting over the pandemic, I saved up and spent a lot of money on some of these only to see them going for $15-20 now. It’s a little heartbreaking to know I could’ve saved literal hundreds of dollars if I had waited a little bit longer
I know how you feel. There are some interesting species coming into the market at ridiculous $$$ now but I can already feel that buyers are aware that the prices will fall and are waiting too.

It’s funny to me silver swords don’t sell! They are so pretty to me but they are still IMO kind of expensive in the US. Wow these prices are crazy! Some are very comparable to the US like the variegated adansonii 😒 and some are not. Like the Trubii has only gone slightly down on price, they are still around $50. Also, I got my Silvery Anne for about $10 for a 4 inch and I didn’t know they could be $84 😱! The cheapest I’ve seen an aglo pictum tricolor is $75 for a small, not very nice one. I had a philodendron tortum ( I think) many, many years ago, that I bought from a local nursery. For whatever reason I lost it. Moving, divorce, spider mites, being new at plant care. Boy, I wish I still had it! Why could it be cheap many years ago, now costs in the hundreds of dollars?
Some things also used to be TC’d like the ace of spades anthurium and then stopped because the demand wasn’t there. Then all of the sudden the demand picked back up. It’s all how plants go over the years.
Philodendron silver stripe / Philodendron Rio seems to be going down too. Was $60 US dollars for a cutting....., now $33 with free shipping for small container. Takes me 2 months to propagate and stabilize a cutting of this.
Sorry i cant speak english properly, tapi beneran deh. Saya malah baru mulai nambah koleksi di rumah beberapa bulan terakhir, karena apa? Kita tidak punya uang 🤣. Sekarang udah nemu verrucosum harga under 100k walaupun wet stick dan kecil bgt. Bahkan melanochrysum saya dapet dibawah 100k juga. Terimakasih buat para netizen yang membuat viral taneman. Karena yang viral, pasti cepetan murahnya, uhuy 🥳. Nice info mas sean.
Interesting to see the prices where you are and glad to know some plants are becoming more accessible. I looked up the Phil Tortum and it is still being sold for $100-$275 here in the states online which is more than I would ever pay, but probably much cheaper if you ever are able to come across one in a physical nursery. I notice plants in general are horrendously overpriced online for some reason for tiny plants.
The hastatum grows very slowly for me. I put it near a south facing window and it started giving me bigger leaves after a year. Nerve-wracking to say the least.😄
I used to collect a variegated plants, but since the new leaves started reverted to green, hence I stop buying variegated. So frustrating as it is much more expensive than green one
@@onlyplants tried everything, even chopping my monstera, but new leaves are always comes green. Hence I stop buying variegated unless it's cheap though :) gambling. But some plant like paraiso verde are much stable, I recommend it
Love the video. It’s so cool to see what prices were like in Indonesia before vs after and how that’s different from how things have changed in the states. Also what was the philodendron to the right of your melanochrysum? Was it also sharoniae or some tenue type? And also the plant to the left of your aglaonema jailing suksom? I love the succulent and bumpy look of it’s leaves!
You should promote an *Alocasia Jacklyn* the endemic alocasia from Sulawesi Indonesia, very rare and it has no scientific name yet, which can make your business blow up again specially for overseas shipping
Oh no… they are being poached to near extinction. In fact we should ban exports of it for now until natural population is back to normal and nurseries have propagated enough for export. 🙏🏽
Syngonium three king still the king atleast for me, i meant look at the color, the dramatic white greenish and the deep green, the pattern on every leaf ohhhh still my first good morning for.
Asking for a friend here. How are plants usually defined as rare? My personal definition of 'rare' is either the plants are endangered in their native habitats or hybrids with distinctive traits usually on the foliage.
I would define rare as supply being exceedingly limited compared to or relative to its demand. Because of this, the prices are usually exuberant. I personally believe endangered plants should be labelled endangered rather than rare. To you know… keep people away from them 😅😅 but we all have different definitions of rare.
@@onlyplants Ah I agree that the meaning of 'rare' would usually lean toward stark imbalance in supply vs demand and not the conservation status. It's like philodendron silver sword vs pink princess. One is rare cos it's threatened and the other is cos it's highly sought after. Thanks, Sean!
Hello! I have many plants, but I have always a problem with monstera adansony. I can’t find a good place for her in my flat. My monstera delicious likes sun. Not direct, but some sun. Does adansony likes sun? Does adansony likes lot of water? I can’t understand this plant. It is staying bad with me! Though all my begonias and filodendrones are staying good
I feel like if the plant can be either easily propagated, grown from seed, or tissue cultured it's always going to lower in price over time. It always ends up a rare plant that's super high in demand being overproduced and drops in price once all these mature plants are sitting in greenhouses not selling at their inflated prices. I can see something like Thai Constellations dropping well under 100 dollars in the next 5-6 years because they're actually tissue cultured instead of being a variegated chimera (like Monstera 'Albo') that requires a cutting from a mother plant using a variegated node. Same way I can see Monstera obliqua being a lot cheaper in the future as it can be propagated. Cebu blue pothos also dropped a lot in price, I got a pretty full plant in a 4" pot for $25 CAD when they were in the $75-100 range before. I can see them dropping as low as 10 dollars pretty soon as they're super easy to grow and propagate.
@@onlyplants Apparently Costa Farms did a test sale of their Thai Constellation tissue cultures that they mass produced in a few US states mid-2021 and they were selling for 80 dollars! Allegedly they have 5 thousand of them ready to go in a greenhouse right now.
Let's see if you can help me. I have managed to root a knot of monstera adansonii variegata, its first completely white leaf, shortly after fully opening, rolled up on itself, the second completely white leaf, exactly the same, after opening it has rolled up on itself. What could be the cause? I have read about the lack of watering, but I don't think that is the case because it is precisely after watering that the second leaf starts to roll up. Thanks. Greetings
This could be due to it not being able to photosynthesis with completely white leaves? Although the next possibility may be overwatering since thats how most people kill theirs. The variegated need very very very little water (but above average humidity)
It's the tissue culture that I'm afraid of. I heard a company here in Philippines conducting tissue culture of rare/super rare plants. They did not release what are those plants. Now, I'm afraid to invest in expensive plants. Now, I'm scrambling to propagate my expensive bought plants but the problem is it is very cold now in our area that propagation may take four months instead of one month during hot season. My begonia rex are even dying and some of my plants are going dormant.

I guess covid caused prices to hike a bit on the tortum but they should be falling soon.
I havent sold any philodendron cream splash in weeks, where before this we sold a few pots every day… scary
Thanks for this video♥️
Aglaeonema pictum tricolor is still worth $100 in the USA.
Omggg
Love your prices there.
Sorry i cant speak english properly, tapi beneran deh.
Asal kita sabar
Interesting to see the prices where you are and glad to know some plants are becoming more accessible. I looked up the Phil Tortum and it is still being sold for $100-$275 here in the states online which is more than I would ever pay, but probably much cheaper if you ever are able to come across one in a physical nursery. I notice plants in general are horrendously overpriced online for some reason for tiny plants.
The hastatum grows very slowly for me. I put it near a south facing window and it started giving me bigger leaves after a year. Nerve-wracking to say the least.😄
They really love light it seems
They do indeed love very bright light. Mine is getting direct sun probably 3-4 hours outdoor.
I like the plants with the pretty stems! Really beautiful 😍 I want one lol
The alocasia zebrina 😀
I'm glad I live here in the Philippines. I can get plants everywhere LOL💖 Anyway, I love buying plants to, but if only I have a budget HAHA
I used to collect a variegated plants, but since the new leaves started reverted to green, hence I stop buying variegated. So frustrating as it is much more expensive than green one
Its possible that they need more light to maintain their variegation? But green forms are just as nice and less stressful to grow.
@@onlyplants tried everything, even chopping my monstera, but new leaves are always comes green. Hence I stop buying variegated unless it's cheap though :) gambling. But some plant like paraiso verde are much stable, I recommend it
Great lesson in being patience. I'm sorry that your business is being affected . Are you OK?
Im ok, have other businesses as backup and thankfully I havent invested much in my nursery
Wooh its best to DM me with screenshots @bo.tan.ist so I dont give you the wrong ID. 😀
I like this guy.
🥰
It’s crazy how some prices fluctuate- I am a $45 and under Plant kind of person- lol
$45 is actually a lot here lol
@@onlyplants sure, it’s a lot for me! Most of my plants are $5 to $15. It’s them dang hoya lol
The paraiso verde is still quite ex here in SG…. The Var. Adonsonii is still crazy expensive.
The market there will catch up to Indonesia. Its just a bit behind because we are at the forefront here in terms of supply.
Hello i keep looking at the long leave plant on your left beautiful 😍😍😍😍
Thats an anthurium vittarifolium 🥰
That doggo is saw cute
Syngonium three king still the king atleast for me, i meant look at the color, the dramatic white greenish and the deep green, the pattern on every leaf ohhhh still my first good morning for.
Its so gorgeous
I am waiting until the rare plants drop in the US...it's still ridiculous right now
It should have fallen no?
Love this video!! ✌️🌞🔥
Yay! New video!
Beautiful collection 😍
Though all my begonias and filodendrones are staying good
They love bright but not direct light, and very very little water
💯
@@onlyplants Apparently Costa Farms did a test sale of their Thai Constellation tissue cultures that they mass produced in a few US states mid-2021 and they were selling for 80 dollars! Allegedly they have 5 thousand of them ready to go in a greenhouse right now.
UGHHH the vittarifolium is still sooo expensive in the US q.q I cri ebri tiem
Rare plants that are now worthless 🤭 creative title Sean😁👍🏻
😅😅
They're NOT Rare Plants But Since You're In The Philippines... I FEEL Compelled To Ask You To #ClickForTheChildren Of The Land Of Cebu Blue!!! Birkin 13.90€ = 226169,57 IR mature plant
Silver Sword 37€ = 602034,11 IR with 30cm leaves in a big vine
Crazy 😱
Whoaaaa. It may have to do with your strong currency and weak indonesia rupiah. The conversion really shows perspective 😀
@@onlyplants from the plants you mentioned that was the two i have (and could buy). The Birkins are now everywhere, but the silver sword was a catch i think. I think it was very long in the shop i got it from. 😊
Where do you find cheap queen anthurium? I still bought a small one for 1.2 mio, and that's after failing many times nurtuing bonggols and those tiny, finger tips size ones 😂
Try tokopedia 😀
Sean...where do you live , Smart hobby take care plant very good 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🙏❤️
In bsd, tangerang selatan dear 😀
prices for tribuii dark form are still kinda high in the states 😅🥲
Ooo cuz they are so slow growing haha. But they like $1-2 here now
@@onlyplants yeah, I managed to grow a vine with 4 leaves, tried to propagate it and they all died. :( And I barely loose a propagation these days anymore. I feel like the plants that are expensive for that reason are justified, but easy to grow and propagate plants shouldn't be expensive, it's just a fad.
@@onlyplants jealous! the cheapeast I saw was a single leaf cutting for $45
I have a bunch of random plant people from Indonesia trying to sell me plants for cheap! Should I trust them? Or are they scammers? I love all you videos by the way 💜
Lots of scammers these days. I would search out for ones that are reputable rather than having them find you.
How i wish i can afford the variegated monstera adansonii ...
They are falling in price like crazy 😀
Have you seen the pink sport variegated Birkins recently?? They're new i think..
Ive not seen that but I know Birkins naturally put out these pink/red variegations randomly. These are quite rare and are not consistent though
@@onlyplants ohh wow. Thanks for the info!
Your dog is also variegated 😂
Lol yes. Didnt know I liked variegation even before plants
Didi kempot say ambyar... Price cheap or normally price
