for some reason copper adds huge sustain to both gold and silver , 90% silver does the same thing - rings way longer than pure silver ... very interesting how these metals work together , thanks for the demo
I had to find out why - the alloying (Cu or Ag) makes the metal much harder and therefore more stiff - prolonging the resonance whereas the softer 24k pure gold absorbs the mechanical movement of the sound wave leading to much greater damping.
@@laurens4359 right , i believe the tightening effect also raises the pitch - acts like how a piano string , when tightened (considering it's the same shape/ thickness, etc) , tends to make the note higher , higher/faster HZ , or vibrations per second (and in doing so , more sustain like the coins do ) - the fascinating thing to me was finding out that each element has it's own voice that cannot be copied , or counterfeited, giving raise to these apps that listen to the coins voice to help-detect fakes , thanks for the reply :)

Yes, so far all of the tungsten u've heard has been a thick thud! No ping what so ever! Always best to use multiple testing methods!
@@SoundMoneyMetals that’s why I said a dull ding lol for some reason tungsten is like a metaloid part stone part metal tungsten is a very strange metal so is osmium which is even heavier than gold weighing about 22 grams per cubic centimeter
