- Kalanchoe Tomentosa Propagation: Panda and Chocolate Soldier propagated from leaves and being separated into their own pots. I used a succulent and orchid soil mix called Hoffman's that I ordered from Amazon "see link below" and added extra vermiculite.

Lovely can I propagate my leaves in water too?
I've also been propagating these. Mine seem to grow slowly but on the other hand I don't have a green house I'm doing everything inside so that makes a difference. I enjoy your informative videos, thanks for your hard work in providing them. God bless

Great video! My panda plant is growing tall and skinny and I was looking for info on how to trim it to get it fuller. If you have any like that would love a video on how to fix it.
I had those and they are one of the few succulents that survives our desert environment. I live in Zone 9a. Unfortunately, I lost them one day when we had terrible gusts of wind. They got blown away and I could not locate them anymore. 😌

How long do you let them Callous over and when they're dried up, do you repot them in soil and then water them or do you stick them in already wet soil?

Another question I had was that I read somewhere that a very select few succulent leaves could be propagated not only at the start of the leaf where it’s just been separated and calloused over for a few days but also by cutting small slits along the top of the leaf, and that the chocolate soldier was one of two plants with leaves that could be propagated this way. However, I’m not seeing anything about that anywhere else so was i misinformed, but are there succulent leaves that can produce new plants from the separated tip of the leaf and from slits cut along the top of the leaf? What plants would those be? Thank you all again kindly in advance!
I'm a little late, just found this video, but it's wonderful! Thanks for sharing it! I'm wondering why my panda plant has thin and very droopy leaves? They are starting to almost curl under, instead of standing up tall and beautiful like yours. Any ideas? I water it about once every 8-10 days.
Sounds like they need more water. Do you keep them pretty dry now? Water well,completely soak the root ball, from the bottom maybe once a week and see if they perk up. Thanks for watching, I appreciate you supporting my channel!

I love those Kalanchoe pups. Do you have an issue if those leaves get wet? I feel like the furry leaved succulents don't do too well when the leaves get wet.
Ruthie's Succulent Obsession so far I have not had any problems. These stay pretty dry and the moisture in the greenhouse hasn’t seemed to bother them. Thanks for your support Ruthie!
What’s the best way to water the propagating leaves? I have some on a tray of soil, no water or pups yet but they gave roots.
Can you cut off the top and propagate that as a cutting?
Your video was really helpful. I just got a cutting of this plant and wasn't sure how to get it to root. Could you tell us more or less how humid is your greenhouse? Reading some of the other comments and seeing that often their leaves just dried up; I'm wondering if the humidity might have been a key factor in getting them to root so easily on top of the soil. Thank you in advance for any advice! :)
MissEAG it is humid. I am in Middle Tn and our summers and even our winters can be humid. My TempStick says the avg. humidity is 97%. So a lot different than the 50 to 60% in your home. These are still producing babies from the leaves. I have a large pot of them now.Thank you for watching!
How long did it take for the pups to appear? I ....have one that I didn't take care of well & now it seems to have died 😔 it was my fault. But I kept the leaves incase they would propagate. One of them is already growing roots! I'm so happy. I want to give it the best chance at survival though so now I need to know the next step. Do I keep waiting for a pup to appear? Or do I put it in some soil now?
Hi! Near the end of the video, after you removed all the new leaf prooagations, what did you say you could do but decided you were just going to leave them as is; was it that you had the option to cut off the top and reroot it in soil? If so and you had done that, what would be the benefits? And what would you do with the remaining stem and roots in the pot? Thank you all for any feedback , I’ve never asked a question on UA-cam before so I might sound like a newbie...because I am! Thank you very much for any clarification on that part of the process, I just acquired this plant and I’d like to make as much of as many if them as possible!!
I think people just do that because they don't like the way the stem looks or it's too tall for where they want to put it, etc.
Thank you, I've tried to propagate but the fuzzy leaves seem to rot before I can get it to have an plantlet. Do you water or mist at all before roots push out or after? Thank you for your video
No I do not water or mist. Just lay these on top of soil mix, or let me drop off from the momma plant. If you're having trouble with rot, try watering from the bottom so that the leaves ae never wet. Only water after you see roots developing. Thanks for watching!
Err on the side of too little water and too much light, just my opinion.
Wow those pups are insane! I had 6 leaves, 5 just got thin after drying up for several weeks. One finally grew some roots but it's been 2 weeks with no pups and the leaf is getting really thin and small. Not sure it has enough in it to finish the process 😞

Yes, you could. My plants are very large now. Doing better than I ever expected them to.

Did you know that you can cut the leaves of you want to produce more pups? Is the one plant i know of that doesn't need stem piece to produce pups! Brown leaves, cut leaves etc will produce babies!
Can you add crushed granite to soil for better drainage? How about crushed gravel?
Chief Louie you can add crushed granite to the soil. I haven’t tried crushed gravel so I don’t know.
do you water from the top or let the plant drink from sitting in water and sucking up through bottom?
Cathy I like watering from the bottom best but I do it both ways. It’s according to how much time I have to spend watering. Thanks for watching and commenting!

To make 3 holes in the new pot first, remove the babies from big pot, plant into holes, that’s the easy way.Then watering.

Pablo, I literally laid these down beside the momma plant and forgot about them. Was shocked when I saw all of those baby plants. These leaves were very full, lots of stored water. Maybe that's what made the difference.

No, just trying to keep my hands clean. It would be the sap or juice from the inside of the leaves that would be toxic.
Really? The sap of this calanchoi is toxic? Scary. Mine got soggy and limp, is it because of too much sun exposure and water?
