Man it seems so cozy n peaceful sleeping in a warm truck during the storm 😂 I love storms though maybe its just me.
i love them too :)
Same , best weather , shiny roads
Yea, a storm where ur in the back of ur truck would just seem the best
till a tornado flips over your whole cab and trailer... xD
Bro im the exact same way
Shhh, the trailers are just sleeping! Up all night, scared of the storm; they must be all tuckered out.
XD
*truckerd out. Hur ha!

Yes the wind is pretty strong i use to live in McCook Ne and have your the truck facing the wind if your empty
McCook wind always gets pretty damn strong
I'm originally from Scottsbluff Ne and live in Oregon now
Hey Dave, the best way to back automatic in that situation when you're close to the dock is to use left foot on brake and the right foot on the accelerate, and ease back slowly. That's how I do it.I'm with you on disliking the auto's though. Enjoy the channel, stay safe brother. I'm a trucking veteran of 27 years. 🙂
When u are backing into a dock at night look at your lights in the back against the dock it will show u how close u are to the dock. The lights will get smaller as u get closer. Meaning the red lights will get smaller as u get closer to the dock. I remember them days, I actually started with con-way truckload the same place u work at. Be safe out there and don’t loose that get out and look 👀.
I saw your laptop and I'm like is that Skyrim. 🤣
home dude over here playing skyrim in a tornado
I’m glad you’re ok and nobody else got injured or killed.
Hey Dave,
I have been here since you had your Black and Gold Honda Grom, I enjoyed your channel since I have enjoyed your content ever since keep up the fantastic work.
Funny story, we were driving home from vacation one time and we had our boat. We didn't put the cover on because no rain was forecasted. Well then the was a tornado in out journey. We stopped at a loves in the middle of MO. We pulled under the diesel roof because the regular gas pumps were full. Around 5 mins later a red truck pulls up and gets out to come get fuel and then walks over to my dad. My dad yelled happily, "Sam!" (The trucker's name, also my name). Since that is my name I spun around and happened to see my towns name on the side of the truck. Since my dad knew him we hopped in his truck and waited out the storm. The truck was shaking so bad. Turns out they were going to Texas to take food down there. (This was a few years ago during right after hurricane Harvey.) We just happened to see him there.
Hope you enjoyed your time in stinky Cedar Rapids. I live 20 mins south of there in Iowa City and I can sometimes smell it from here. 😷
Nothing wrong with checking while backing man. Can never be too sure. I’m not a trucker but I really enjoy watching your videos. It’s something that always had my interest. I ended up running a liqour store in Louisiana
You can always keep it as an option ❤️👍
Upon looking at the date this was published i think this was the 2020 nebraska/iowa derecho, which did a TON of damage, you're lucky you made it out of that one safely!
When the tornado sirens are beeping, shhhh daves a sleeping 😴😴👍 🤣
Looks fun there.
That's trucking
5:51 that is bad but I've been through worse unfortunately, i have had a stack of sea containers blow over about 2 meters in front of my truck the stack was 5 or 6 high it has been a few months sense then.
100 percent normal for interstate 80 to experience things like this. Just a couple days ago we had 90 mph gusts in the utah valley and from Evanston Wyoming to wamsutter Wyoming reported gust of 112 mph!!! Several from our fleet were overturned and a couple were parked got flipped sitting still.
Dave. I would have chose the same back in that you did. But get out look means walk around the truck and see both sides. Also if you lay a flashlight on the ground at night (on the line), it helps you line up with the docks. It a little trick I learned my first year of driving truck.
I have hauled many TSC loads. Some have ramps, other have docks. But most of them are not built for full length tractor and trailers. Even though most of their deliveries are done with such. And I always let them break the seal, that way I’m not responsible for any missing freight.
Stay safe, stay healthy, and keep on truckin.
I have been driving since 2017 and never thought about the flashlight thing... thanks for the tip!!
Great useful ideas!!! I will use them❤️👍🌸🌲❄️
I already loved these vids before now, but then I saw Skyrim on the laptop. Now this is my favorite channel.
I drove for 15 years and have been in some tornadoes situations and have seen trucks picked up and thrown a half mile away I sometimes miss driving but love my life in central Oregon
😂calm down Dave "Full F******* Blast or Nothing" 😂😂
Man, when you yawned at about 3 minutes in, you made me yawn too. I have been binge watching your vids (absolutely glad I found these) and it’s time for me to hit the hay. Thank you for your videos, I will get back to this one when I get up. 😵😴❤️👍
I can concur with the "THESE FUCKING AUTOMATICS!!" statement lol. I've never driven a big rig but I ran potato trucks on a farm for years and I always despised the autos even though they were way nicer and newer and more comfortable.
Yeah backing with the transmission that these Kenworths are equipped with is annoying. They don’t do gentle. It’s either full reverse or nothing. When I first started driving solo I got a Volvo. Now those knew how to reverse gently. There were only a few things I didn’t like about that Volvo.
Thats why you turn off hill assist
That looked like a bad storm
When u back up with auto.
Just hold the brake pedal let go slowly, practice and you will see it works for me anyways
0:52 I never been to Nebraska before last week and it it that the one day I was the a bit softer though.
I love your videos man. Binge watching them now. I am not a trucker yet. Ill be retiring soon so itll be my second career if all goes well. Keep it up.
At 61 just finished truck school, being a small woman it kicked my butt all over the place. I was extra happy the day I graduated ❤️👍🌸🌲❄️
Yeah sometimes here in Nebraska we have bad storms (I'm in Nebraska so I know what it's like)
That clicking on the door is 2 little bolts on the truck they get loose I think is called door check
Dave if you ever go to Tractor Supply in Thatcher Az. You would be an hour away from me.
That would be fun to load up.
60 MPH wind gusts are normal in Nebraska. We get that sht all the time here.
Turn off the hill assist brake switch it right beside the lane switch it help some
Great advice ❤️
I think he got part of that land hurricane that went through the middle of iowa
And it also hit in Illinois I was on the highway in that storm by Chicago
I'm from cedar rapids my moms bfs dad use to manage that tractor supply in cedar rapids
I spent 35 Years going thru alot worse than that! You're gonna have some fun days!
I agree about the automatics at the TSC. They're good for city trucking since you're not dealing with the clutch a thousand times, but with t a clutch I can control how much push my truck would have.
Reminds me of that storm we had in the summer in Nebraska, 50-100mph winds
You’ll be back if a tornado appears in front of you 😂😂😂💀💀💀💀
I've commented on other videos may times. I hope you seen it let me know on one of your videos. TURN OFF THE HILL ASSIST ON THE TRUCK, GREEN SWITCH IN THE MIDDLE LOOKS TRUCK GOING DOWN A HILL WITH A SLASH THROUGH IT. THEN YOU CAN SLOWLY BACK THE TRUCK BY FEATHERING THE THROTTLE.
I was taking notes on your comments!!! Thank you for the great information ❤️👍🌸🌲❄️

Take ....your.....time ... doesn't......matter...how many time you get out ...be safe
It looks like Nebraska’s storms are bad
Yes use to live in Nebraska weather is Crazy
Florida is worse
Texas weather is just Schizophrenic
Hi Dave please be safe during covid19
Glad you seen what can happen in bad weather.dont be afraid to standby in bad weather you dont wanna be on your side.they will blame you as to why did you keep going.fog.ice.wind.its your call capt dave.be safe
Most of these companies pay garbage for detention, and most don't pay for inclement weather or breakdown. They say be safe it's your call. But they don't empower their people to make that choice they encourage reckless dangerous and stupid behavior by withholding pay. Unless you're desperate don't drive for anyone that doesn't have good detention pay and breakdown and severe weather pay.
I have the same truck but 13spd sometimes you move a little to quickly but slows up once you let the clutch all the way out. Ima new sub to your channel I watch you every chance I get hopefully I see you out there one day !!
I broke down once doing horse transport, had $16 million worth of racehorses and stallion that stud just paid $46 million for 70%. Bush fires 6 hrs away travelling away from me, I set my alarm to wake me every 30 minutes, got up and from the smoke I couldn't see 5 meters, when I finally got going back to depo I had left 30 mins before breakdown, fires where half km away. Winds had changed and if I hadn't broken down, I would of been in a very life-threatening situation, horses would of been scared in fires, probably hurt themselves or worse, we would of got out but the horses most probably would of done major injury, thank God they made it, that is my major concern transporting livestock, I love horses but all living beings in our care are our responsibility and need our help at times, pls remember this when dealing with animals in every day life or as part of you working life. We how got major floods and ppl always think of themselves and 2 days later I get call, rescue our beloved horses....... remember that before you evacuate yourselves you selfish impatient ppl..... seriously.
imagine a wasup coming into Daves truck, while he's straight backing from the street when it's still dark out lol

soo the windsheild wipers automatically turned on ?
when i was traveling with my mom and step dad in there rig we came across a couple of bad storms in Nebraska and Cheyanne one time we had a f2 tornado come within 200 feet of us that was scary but liveing in flordia im used to this weather of it raining like a hurriacane but its just a thunder storm
one time in kansas we where right behind a really bad thunderstorm i think it had a couple of tornados but while we were behind it a TON and i mean a TON of lighting was flashing around us non stop lighting probably 55 strikes of lighting in 30 secs it was amazing alot of close calls but i cant put into words how amazing it was i might have a video of it that ima post to my channel
That sounds EPIC!!!!!!! By the way...GREAT stories 👍, I love it when people tell their stories ❤️

Nebraska is craze live bean in it
Yes yes this is normal in Nebraska lmao
If you ever stop during heavy wind and you have room angle your truck like youve jack knifes to reduce thw bouncing in the cab
Have you ever done that? Sounds like a great idea ❤️👍
I find it best to get my trailer into easy position before opening doors, then they don't obstruct view. You may not think it makes much difference but I seen plenty ppl make plenty damage from opening early, takes 30 sec longer, even if you reverse all the way in drive out open doors reverse back in, will even save time alot of the time
Make plenty damage? What colour is your bed sheet hat today
Lol dave i will take automatic all day bc manual seems too much work.
I almost drove into a hurricane in Alabama a few months back. I was on some highway in the middle of the night, almost hit a meth head on the side of the road and then started hitting rain. Had a friend of mine look it up and by the time I got to Birmingham, the hurricane would've hit the same time. I was like fuck that and pulled into a Walmart parking lot to wait it out
Wise choice 👍❤️
@@tmo.48 Lol yeah it was an interesting night
Wow, you got some weird comments here tonight, Dave. Bots maybe? Anyway, that was quite the storm there. Glad it didn't tip you over. You did a great job backing in. We have a TSC here in Ithaca and it is really small. Stay safe:)

That is very normal in Nebraska.
I seen one of your videos having problems with the truck backing up I have learned to do like a mini standard put my foot on the gas and the brake do it real slow. I don't hit the buildings or anything as hard like I did before.
😂🤣😂👍❤️
Ah yes that storm, i was at a diffrent place, we use a ballpoint pen to roll down driver window, shorted it itwas stuck down. Also yed this is normal in nebraska, ilive in pender nebraska *68047*
Good thing you was not on the road when that storm blew by. Could have definitely caused a roll over.

I didn't jack it enough 😂
I wonder if that was me that drive by you when backing into the tractor supply
It was you. I was actually recording him on my phone saying how bad he is at backing instead of helping him out. I was saying how I could have done it in ten seconds like all the other super truckers. Well it is now time to put my flip flops on and head out.
