Are the radial and circumferential the right way around? Ive seen online where the radial stress is a - b/r^2 and the hoop stress is a + b/r^2 just making me a little confused as what the right was round is
Hi Michael, these are the correct way round for the equations that we are using. There is a variant whereby the numerator of b is just P_internal. However, the numerator of this variant is (P_external - P_internal). This accounts for the + and - being the opposite way around.
