Stop the cap he had opportunity he just has no mic skills to put him over the top to a main event player. Logan Paul out talked him on the mic and came across better. The thing is that love everyone is saying his promos weren’t that good which is crazy if he was a fan of watching wwe as a kid and watching the past wrestlers from that time not just on wrestling but cutting amazing promos. He rely too much on his athleticism and not put equally focus on cutting great promos
To the people using the promo thing as a reason for why he couldn’t be pushed, that’s a weak excuse, we’ve seen wrestlers who were weak in the promo separation get pushed, but they got better as they were being pushed. His promos can’t be better if not put in important rivalries where he has to cut promos. Dont believe me. Look at Bobby lashley, look at Damien priest, rhea ripley, chad gable just to name a very few. The promo thing is a weak excuse. Wwe just failed him and it’s that simple. Yeah, but Roman still had so much potential because of his look and his booking in The Shield. He could still come off as a badass just by his look himself. The promos weren't particularly very good but most of that is because he was given really corny material because they wanted him to be John Cena. Ricochet has all the talent in the ring and is super athletic but he doesn't have a character edge beside being really good at flips. His mic skills were bad and he didn't have enough charisma or personality, remember that promo against Brock?. Not everything was his fault as he looked to be made a joke against Brock Lesnar but the guy was probably never gonna be World title material based on the fact that he couldn't connect with the crowd. I know some people will blame WWE for that but if anything, he did get a good few opportunities, he was US and IC champion and got to show his talent in MITB ladder matches and had a decent program with Logan Paul but he just felt too similar to a lot of wrestlers that the casual fans had seen before e.g. Evan Bourne, Paul London, Rey Mysterio etc and didn't stand out beside his amazing athleticism
He is short, and I don’t care what the net says he’s not 5’9, he’s a lot shorter than that. You have to do more in wrestling than just jumping up in the air all of the time. This is wrestling not gymnastics. He also sucks behind the mic.
All Ricochet ever needed was someone like MVP to manage him. He coulda been a main eventer and (outside of Dom) the true successor to Rey Mysterio 🤦🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
He was put in too many SQUISH matches against 300+ pounders. If WWE could have a viable Cruiserweight division, then guys like Ricochet could really shine, but not when being constantly put up against guys like Bronson Reed and Ivar.
AJ Styles said it in his documentary that he was told they have guys that can do all the high flying moves he does and what they need is the attitude and personality to go with it. Let's be honest we know that without it Ricochet will just be a steady hand in the ring and be the guy they drag out for multiman ladder matches and to do high spots but never win the big one
Ricochet cut good promos as Prince Puma on Lucha Underground. His problem in WWE was that what he says on TV is managed a certain way and his promos often contained little to no real emotion. I know what Ricochet sounds like outside of WWE TV. He sounds way better than his TV character. Bobby Lashley had a similar problem. I'm sure they quickly noticed that he doesn't promo the WWE way, so they paired him with MVP.
the main complaint about him within the fans is his promo work. a reminder that it took roman reigns till like 2020 to get it right, its all about the chances. if rikochet was pushed as much as roman (meaning was given the same number of chances or even half to give a promo) then his promo work wouldn't even be discussed, point is: yes he screwed his chances but they were not enough to begin with, especially when he was booked to lose over and over to irrelevant pple or lose in record time. in those scenarios even if he was stone cold-level in promo it would be pointless. however, i personally believe that the real blame on rikochet is for staying in WWE. sure its THE destination for pro wrestlers, but whats the point in staying in a place that made it VERY clear in many times that you have no chance there whatsoever? now ofc im an outside observer so there could be more to it, but if not then staying in WWE for that long is something he needs to reflect on, especially since someone with his talent could become a major attraction in other companies with the right booking
But Roman always had the potential to be great and he could cut a decent promo when given solid material, the problem was WWE kept giving him corny lines, what Ricochet probably needed was joining The Hurt Business as he would've been a great fit for them, MVP could do all the talking and he could show off his great athleticism while also being a cocky heel who looks good in suits and sunglasses
It’s another Shelton Benjamin case. Ricochet is absolutely INCREDIBLE in the ring, but SUCKS at doing promos. You can have all the talent in the world, but it’s not going to get you nowhere if you can’t speak on the mic.
I don't think his run with WWE is as bad as what people make it out to be. It's like just because your not main eventing PPV's or winning any world titles that automatically makes you a failure. Come on, guys, not everyone can be a main eventer. I actually think he's had the best run he possibly could've considering his lack of Mic skills and overall boring character.
Nobody failed him. Besides himself. He has zero charisma and zero promo skills. Not only that, his move set was very repetitive. Plus, he didn't blend it well enough to make it look like it wasn't overly choreographed. He belongs in a circus. Not wrestling
Let's be honest! If wwe actually cared they would have sent Ricochet to a promo school to develop his mic skills. However that said his promos did get slight better but slightly better was not good enough for fickle wwe management or the fickle ungrateful fans! The man works so hard but people have the fucking nerve to say he was not good enough! Let's be real! Even if he did have the "it factor " WWE would have found a way to fail him because the only people they fucking push are bloody Samoans!!!!!
There's a reason AJ Styles n Adam Cole can easily be world champions but Ricochet can't. PROMOS. I can't even remember a single title run he's had even with midcard titles
Ricochet couldn't cut a promo and like it or not that has a ceiling especially as time has moved on. He can do flips and acrobatics but when everyone does that what makes him stand out. His partner Samantha was more over than him. His feud with logan paul really showed up Ricochet in the promo department like it was no contest. To me hes this generations Shelton really good in the ring but can't cut a promo well
The only problem with Ricochet was his promos. He literally got cooked by Logan Paul in a promo battle. Such a great wrestler in the Indies, he should've won a world title
WWE couldn’t make a Black stereotypical character out of Ricochet that’s why they didn’t know what to do with him. Just about every Black wrestler has to be a rapper or sing and dance or be some type of hip hop or thug street character in order to make it known WWE.
Let's be honest ricochet had everything but promo work and a character, I think the one and only catchphrase could have worked for a heel character like being the one and only face of wwe, with a heel manager and less aerial stuff with more strikes, he could have been a character but ricochet failed himself
Not everybody that's ever laced up a pair of boots is a legend and everybody that's ever stepped in a ring is not supposed to be a 17-time world champion. Ricochet and flip he can't cut a promo and he has no charisma and his match psychology mid at best. WWE did not fail him he went just as far if not further than he should have
Basically 80% his talent goes to ring work and selling moves and no improvement on ring psychology, mic work, character work and charisma thats he's a mid card at best he can't even make the crowd believe he's a main event guy in WWE skill is not enough to make to the top you need a character
As good as Ricochet is in WWE ring he’s enhancement talent because he doesn’t have an exciting personality to sell the audience. Anytime he wrestled he was to make his opponent look good who have more outgoing personalities because WWE is character driven since the beginning not in ring skill driven
The man made good money, got to work with his wife (not sure if they met there and not looking into it), got to travel the world doing something he loves and leaves with his health intact. What’s there to complain about really?
I dunno if I would say that WWE failed him. He was in a pretty good place in WWE. He never really had what it took to be a Main Eventer or World Champion. He was too small, not very charismatic, and not good at promo. AEW or NJPW fits him better.
It’s wrestling, not gymnastics. Many of us who watch wrestling don’t want to watch the same tired high spots over and over again. We tire of having to watch people who are supposed to be in a fight stand there with their thumb 👍🏻 up their butt waiting to catch the other guy. Ricochet is boring. He’s a one gymnastics trick pony. He got far more chances than his boring performances deserved.
Ricochet wasn’t not a good talker on the mic which I feel was the problem with him Not getting the Push he deserves and Second is that he was likely way too small and Even Though Vince Is gone, Triple H Probably felt the same way as Vince about Ricochet, I Didn’t think he was ever gonna get the push that we wanted... and Ricochet still hadn’t improve since then, and I do remember that when’s paul Heyman was the General Manager for RAW 5 years ago, he wanted to push and groom Ricochet into a big star, burn Vince reportedly Hated this idea and chose to bury him in midst of the Pandemic because Vince and likely triple h didn’t see anything in him..... Vince seven admitted that Paul heyman pushing smallest guys Experiment was Not working and getting over with him, not just the fans....
How would you book Lesnar vs a cruiserweight acrobat? I saw Ric Steiner swallow Chris Benoit WHOLE on a Monday Nitro. That's why we have weight classes. When Lesnar debuted he beat Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy AT THE SAME TIME. Stay out of your feelings.
WWE is more about storylines than 5 🌟 matches. How can you have a good storyline when you are limited because you have no mic skills? You don't seem to have a good understanding of the business.
How can your mic skills improve if you’re not put in meaningful storylines that matter? You seem to not have a good understanding of how becoming better works. Bro was a glorified stuntman. Even a piece of paper had more charisma than him. Couldn't connect with the audience. People didn't even care until he left wwe.
Ricochet got REJECTED when it came to main event push.
Lowkey, but I feel like they shouldve given him more opportunities to prove himself
Bruh what do you mean more opportunities. He was IC champ, US Champ, Tag Champ and stayed on PLE. He was featured heavily on National Tv and one of his biggest feuds was against Logan Paul. Stop the cap he had opportunity he just has no mic skills to put him over the top to a main event player. Logan Paul out talked him on the mic and came across better. The best thing Ricochet did was the flip outside the ring. His high spots are cool he is a good worker but he has no character work.
The thing is that love everyone is saying his promos weren’t that good which is crazy if he was a fan of watching wwe as a kid and watching the past wrestlers from that time not just on wrestling but cutting amazing promos. He rely too much on his athleticism and not put equally focus on cutting great promos
If you can't talk even decently then the fans will not care and it's hard to get them back
Bro might be the new wrestlelamia
To the people using the promo thing as a reason for why he couldn’t be pushed, that’s a weak excuse, we’ve seen wrestlers who were weak in the promo separation get pushed, but they got better as they were being pushed. His promos can’t be better if not put in important rivalries where he has to cut promos. Dont believe me. Look at Bobby lashley, look at Damien priest, rhea ripley, chad gable just to name a very few. The promo thing is a weak excuse. Wwe just failed him and it’s that simple. From him being a jobber, to his forgettable title reigns.
Great point
The examples you used all at least have a personality which Ricochet does not.
@@IamjustBruh because they were given a character from storylines. Priest first us reign and before he was a basic babyface fighting champion, Bobby lashley even in his reign had a mouthpiece but got better, Rhea was a simple babyface as well, Chad was a prototypical tag wrestler. Thr difference is they were put in important feuds or stories that set a precedent for what their characters should be and fits them.. ricochet never got that.
Promo is not a factor to me, it's character.
Asuka can barely do a promo in English, but her character shines through regardless because she can express it through her personality.
Ricochet is just a flip guy.
That's it. There is no personality, not even when he was on Upupdowndown. He's just....there.
@@ScuffedF again look at my last reply to the other guy. You can’t develop a character when all your doing is being told to go out and put on a good wrestling match. He’s had characters in other promotions so you should definitely do some research on it.
It wasn't all wwe fault he wasn't good on the mic yeah he could fly and do amazing flippy stuff but that's only gonna get you so far I wasn't always a big fan but I respect the fact he can do stuff alot of people can't do.
Promo abilities can be learned though, sure it doesnt come easy for some people but the opportunities to get him better shouldve been there in my opinion rather than just letting him walk
@@Wrestleology he had a bunch of opportunities to get over.. he could've said hey I wanna turn heel or change up his character he didn't he just couldn't cut a promo or be entertaining yeah he's an amazing wrestler but that's only gonna take you so far I hope goes to Japan or tna because aew wouldn't be any better..
He's gonna have that match with Will Osprey then after that what he's gonna do?
@@Wrestleologyhe was with the WWE for six years. Was given multiple title runs and feuds…THOSE were the opportunities for him to work on his mic skill.
If he couldn’t step up after all those years and chances, then that’s on him.
People who are saying he couldnt cut a promo and that was his failure, remember Roman Reigns some years ago?
Right lol
Height isn't an issue, his character work (or lack thereof) is the issue.
Tbh he failed himself he’s not good on the mic which was the main thing holding him back
Two words why Ricochet failed in WWE: Vince. McMahon.
You can be the greatest athlete and wrestling but if you can’t cut a promo then you won’t get far in WWE
All Ricochet ever needed was someone like MVP to manage him. He coulda been a main eventer and (outside of Dom) the true successor to Rey Mysterio 🤦🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
THANK YOU!
He was put in too many SQUISH matches against 300+ pounders.
If WWE could have a viable Cruiserweight division, then guys like Ricochet could really shine, but not when being constantly put up against guys like Bronson Reed and Ivar.
Ricochet isn't once in a generation. He may have been, if it was 1980s. Now, he's a one of the dozen in a generation.
He already has Samantha Irwin, what more does this man need in life
I just watched this last night and today he signed with AEW, he was a very talented guy, wish him the best
Tony Khan did not go ALL OUT.. he went ALL IN on Ricochet.
It’s another Shelton Benjamin case. Ricochet is absolutely INCREDIBLE in the ring, but SUCKS at doing promos. You can have all the talent in the world, but it’s not going to get you nowhere if you can’t speak on the mic.
Ricochet did about as good as I expected him to in WWE, the Brock match hurt him a little bit but he never really evolved and that's on him.
Ricochet failed promo class thus failing in the WWE. Plain and simple.
He was with WWE for 5 or 6 years and never learned how to cut a good promo. One of the best wrestlers on the planet though.
He needed to wear a mask like Rey Mysterio and never talk. Then he would have been great.
To me hes this generations Shelton really good in the ring but can't cut a promo well
His promos wasn’t good which can hurt a superstar heavy
Truly tragic how it happened to 😢
fax
The only problem with Ricochet was his promos. He literally got cooked by Logan Paul in a promo battle. Such a great wrestler in the Indies, he should've won a world title
Yeah
100%, promos can be learned tho
Idk bout a world title because the dude is so limited when he's not wrestling, it will be another Jack Swagger situation.
WWE couldn’t make a Black stereotypical character out of Ricochet that’s why they didn’t know what to do with him. Just about every Black wrestler has to be a rapper or sing and dance or be some type of hip hop or thug street character in order to make it known WWE.
The problem is riochet is not have strength and big size advantage
Maybe WWE could invest in more Paul Heyman type characters for wrestlers who are great in the ring, but weak on the mic
Let's be honest ricochet had everything but promo work and a character, I think the one and only catchphrase could have worked for a heel character like being the one and only face of wwe, with a heel manager and less aerial stuff with more strikes, he could have been a character but ricochet failed himself
He failed himself , I seen him say people like prince puma because he won partly but it's really cause he didn't talk
Not everybody that's ever laced up a pair of boots is a legend and everybody that's ever stepped in a ring is not supposed to be a 17-time world champion. Ricochet and flip he can't cut a promo and he has no charisma and his match psychology mid at best. WWE did not fail him he went just as far if not further than he should have
Ricochet can't speak. Pretty important 😂
Ricochet has zero personality, very boring and he'll never draw. Let's cut the crap
i hope they dont do this to wes lee.. he is like the perfect ricochet replacement
Basically 80% his talent goes to ring work and selling moves and no improvement on ring psychology, mic work, character work and charisma thats he's a mid card at best he can't even make the crowd believe he's a main event guy in WWE skill is not enough to make to the top you need a character
His promo skills was trash
As good as Ricochet is in WWE ring he’s enhancement talent because he doesn’t have an exciting personality to sell the audience. Anytime he wrestled he was to make his opponent look good who have more outgoing personalities because WWE is character driven since the beginning not in ring skill driven
The man made good money, got to work with his wife (not sure if they met there and not looking into it), got to travel the world doing something he loves and leaves with his health intact. What’s there to complain about really?
You didn't mention much about him being on the main roster in 2019. Or winning the US championship
I dunno if I would say that WWE failed him. He was in a pretty good place in WWE. He never really had what it took to be a Main Eventer or World Champion. He was too small, not very charismatic, and not good at promo. AEW or NJPW fits him better.
His promos crippled him
Except in ring work. Never seen one good storylune, one amazing promo. I try so hard to think but cant even think of his character
The same thing is about to happen to Andrade smh 🤦🏽♂️
King Cuerno, Prince Puma
Prince puma need to be signed
They found replacement as Jack Paul 😢
I miss prince puma...❤❤❤
If he get similar to fiend demon aur bolor it will be awesome
It’s wrestling, not gymnastics. Many of us who watch wrestling don’t want to watch the same tired high spots over and over again. We tire of having to watch people who are supposed to be in a fight stand there with their thumb 👍🏻 up their butt waiting to catch the other guy.
Ricochet is boring. He’s a one gymnastics trick pony. He got far more chances than his boring performances deserved.
Mann thinks hes gunna be another drew/cody situation
no charisma no mic skills
Almost every ex WWE wrestler AEW signed has failed to find success. They'd be lucky if they do find success with such a bloated roster
Ricochet failed Ricochet
I mean he has samantha irvin. Doesnt that count as a win?
He just couldn't connect with the fans, just a very boring dude overall.
He's just all flips man he doesn't have anything else that takes to be a successful professional wrestler quite frankly he overachieved in WWE
The age old question - Is Ricochet black?
Ricochet, while not being good on the mic, hasn’t had a single rivalry on the main roster (other than the Logan Paul one) in which most people cared enough about. Both things go hand in hand. Most people aren’t complete main event level talents the moment they step foot in WWE.
@@Wrestleology Ricochet needed a heel turn to put him on the map. He never was a reason people tuned into Raw, he was just there.
Poor promos
Ricochet was never going to be a main eventer! He had no gimmick or charisma, all he does is flips.
