Absolutely - by the time LaBrie gets to the "...fearless faith in DESTINY!" I feel for the guy and also think he rocks, as it's a very complex piece to sing over.
We played this DVD in my music tech class in high school. I don’t think most of the class knew what was happening but I know some lives were changed that day!!
"And though the time will come when dream and day unite, tonight the only consolation causing him to fight, is fearless faith in destiny" Greatest song lyric ever written.
Exellent! Song is from 85 album so composed propably even earlier. You could argue that this is somewhat naive or even ridiculous but....wanna hear it again whats propably a goos sing for a song. its kinda funny and i've never enjoyed DT's vocalist Lebrie? Labrie? James L. :) well point been these early Dream Theater songs stand the test of time i actually laugh by myself listening to these few classics from this album and what the names was .... Images and words and Awake. couple of songs this is so effin exelencioso HEHEHEEE. Gets better w/time like good wine.
I've always felt Moore's lyrics were a little verbose at times, at least when trying to fit within the confines of the music. Read by themselves they're always fantastic, but you can kind of tell on occasion that there's just more than can comfortably fit on any given line. That aside, I actually think the material on WDaDU is still great. I'd love to have a freshly-recorded version if that ever ends up being on the table.
The sheer brilliance of Kevin Moore, everyone! (have to agree with BtStudio: Rudess, as usual, destroys Moore's solos and WDADU tracks do not suit James' vocals)
Even though I love prog in general, always found WDADU songs too weird both vocally and instrumental wise, more like using odd time signatures for the sake of being progressive. Obviously DT have matured a lot in Images and Words.
@@subutaynoyan5372 I have no complaints about James LaBrie or his singing - but for me, the songs on the first album belong to Dominici (which I was so pleased when he performed live with them again a few years ago).
Kevin Moore's lyrics are just fantastic. One of the many things he brought to the band that they were never able to replace.
no no a nogo, every profi-musician say, DT became better and better with Rudess !
@@Nonconform14 Rudess is a more talented keyboard player than Moore, but he isn't half the songwriter or lyricist that Moore was.
@@robicenco1 i don't care about, this was before 30 years, now DT is good as ever, DT know for sure, what is to do ...
Even when plans fall to pieces, I can still find the courage with promise I've found in my faith
The Best song of the show
Vanchu Vega Idk man....hollow years with that improv solo was pretty fantastic
Yes man
Not while the ToT songs and Instrumedley are in there.
Nah man, In The Name of God all the way!
I thought it was the worst song of the show, not gonna lie.
3:30-4:02
One of the most epic DT moments ever. Crazy rhythmic section with the lyrics.
yeah epic
Absolutely - by the time LaBrie gets to the "...fearless faith in DESTINY!" I feel for the guy and also think he rocks, as it's a very complex piece to sing over.
for me, the best song from DT
horribly, this sound seemingly seems natural.
I think the most epic moment is here: 5:23 - 5:50
I have always loved the lyrics of this song.
Moore's poetic genius!
Kevin Moore’s departure was a major dealbreaker for me
A suited man smiled and said, it's just a matter of time
The Best song of Dream Theater, you can´t deny it!!
Learning To Live is the best song from Dream Theater, Sorry. 💅
Yes man, one of their best. So epic. That end 🤤🤤🤤
possibly!
A change of season's is the best hahahaha 🗿
I LOVE much of the rhythm parts of this composition, I love the dynamics, the complex lyrics, it's just beautiful.
I love their sounds from 6:18, it's like a train running :D
❤ this is the best version of the song. ❤
Kevin Moore is a genius,. Man, the words and the phrasing in this song is really sick
Say what you will about james…this is a great performance.
is it possible to say in one single comment how much masterpiece songwriting this one is? Even better reading the lyrics
Absolutely phenomenal!
Very good quality video.
What a fucking musical masterpiece.
when this dvd came out it was the best time of my life.... and I didn't even know it.
We played this DVD in my music tech class in high school. I don’t think most of the class knew what was happening but I know some lives were changed that day!!
hi, if you want the backing track (for guitars), only have to down volume of right speaker of the system. Have a nice day ;)
5:37: the most epic moment ever in all of music history
Idk why but that chord progression is just the most badass things ever
great song really like this
Credit to LaBrie for remembering these complex and quite poetic Kevin Moore lyrics.
"And though the time will come when dream and day unite, tonight the only consolation causing him to fight, is fearless faith in destiny"
Greatest song lyric ever written.
I've always thought this song must be incredibly hard to sing!
lyrics play melody are very perfect.
here is progressive metal
Fun fact: first DT song I ever heard
comtempory music on rock side.
gracefull vibration.
i cant stand crying
when Petrucci was just a little guy. dudes massive now lol
The Virgin Train Of Thought Petrucci Vs The Chad Astonishing Petrucci
cool
That bass
Love this live performance but i still prefer the keyboard ending of the album version
4:15 !!!!
most epic moment: 5:23 - 5:50

Mike Mangina!!!
That ending damn. Math test.
First :)
only...
I'll always love DT, more than any other band because of what they've already done for me. But why is Jordan not doing the bends in the beginning???
Because he doesn't have the sensibility of Kevin Moore.
@@ankihansen2489 honestly, I think because it's so much work he can only put everything into so much.
Mike Portnoy tone is the best

Wordy!
I always think first album songs sound better with Charlie
The sheer brilliance of Kevin Moore, everyone!

It starts at 0:17 btw bois
LaBrie is a much better than Dominici but Dominici had the advantage of never needing to breath (seemingly).
Is he talking about Half-Life and G-man? A suited man smiled and said: It's just a matter of time
Thales Kruger Music Studio You are aware that this song was in an album that has been published in 1989, right?
It's about how their first record label stiffed them. Similar theme to Pink Floyd's "Have a Cigar" and the Clash's "Complete Control".
Amazing performnce, but I have to admit that i prefer the original keyboard sound, although I usually love Rudess keyboard:/
Even though I love prog in general, always found WDADU songs too weird both vocally and instrumental wise, more like using odd time signatures for the sake of being progressive. Obviously DT have matured a lot in Images and Words.
Love DT but got tired of LaBries voice about 15 years ago
Respect for the difficult of the vocal lines and the lyrics, but hear this singing makes me always uncomfortable :(
People complain about him a lot. But nobody else could abide being the DT singer for so long.
@@subutaynoyan5372 I have no complaints about James LaBrie or his singing - but for me, the songs on the first album belong to Dominici (which I was so pleased when he performed live with them again a few years ago).
Soul Dream theater is from drum and only Mike Portnoy can do it... mike mangini is a great drum too. But in dreat theater he not perfect..
The audio is worst... Even i dont hear Jordan Rudess's play
kotak persegi i have some bad News for you then... You're deaf
The quality is quite good, but the mix has got too much drums in foreground.
The instruments are overly panned in my opinion, especially the guitar. Therefore the whole mix sounds a little empty.
Dream Theater is nothing without Mike Portnoy.
I have to admit Jordan totally ruined the solo here... And this so does not suit for Labrie at all... That's a shame cause it is awesome
I know imagine if they did an extended version of it live and they turned up the volume a bit more lol
Except it _is_ awesome and suited LaBrie very well. Dominici was overbearingly 80s pop-styled. John Petrucci's playing complements it perfectly.
Even though I love Jordan, he made the solo overly technical here and took the soul out of it.
The older I get, the more annoying Labrie appears to me. Why?
How I hate JLB voice!!! It's seems like a cooling duck. And his changed pronunciation of the
vowels.
Horrible voice
