Also, "geometry is braille", I don't have the faintest clue what that's supposed to mean. Braille is three dimensional. The thing is, we're unable to see a truly two dimensional square, because it has literally zero width.
You can't 'see' the fourth dimension, but you can imagine it like this. You've got a sphere, and you take a thin sheet from various points. If you take it from the middle, it's a big circle, and if you take it from the end, it's a smaller one. Same thing with 4th dimension, but the slices are 3D objects, and the ends are beginning and end. So at one side, you're an old man and at the other, you're attached to your mother.

It is only useful for mathematical and comprehensive analysis, but has no usefulness in its actualization. This is the same conclusion that is found in our study of the 2D. It is useful for studying and analyzing; however there is no observable evidence for a 2D-object. It can never be actualized.

This artument is flawed, because the 2d guy can't see at all, and doesn't even exist. And if I'm hidden by all sides, no light can enter or escape the box, so the 4d guy can't see anything, even if his view is unobstructed by the box.

I'd say Interstellar doesn't exactly get a 4th spacial dimension, but it certainly is one of the coolest representations of a kind of time dimension represented in space.
If you witnessed a tesseract, the 4 spatially dimensional cube, all you would see is a normal cube. This on its own is hard to intuitively understand because you would think that a fundamentally different shape would look different. This is how you can more easily understand it though. Let's imagine that we have a 2 dimensional world (a piece of paper) with some people living in it (some stick figures). They can only see certain things. For example, if I drew a circle on the page and one of these people looked at it, all they would see is one edge of the circle. They can't see the other side of the circle just like how we can't see the other side of a sphere but they still understand that it's a circle just how we understand a ball is still a sphere. Now if you could imagine that I take a sphere, just a simple rubber ball, and pass it through the paper like a magic hologram. The people on the paper can see the sphere as it passes through the paper but only the part that is in their world at the time it's passing through. They can essentially only see a cross section of the ball at any one time. So what they actually see happening as the ball passes through their world is a very small circle appearing out of nowhere (the first point of the ball touching the paper), getting bigger and bigger and bigger until it stops growing (the widest part of the ball), and then starts shrinking and shrinking until it disappears (the last point of the ball touching the paper). That is what a sphere passing through a 2 dimensional world looks like. We can apply that same logic to our world of 3 spacial dimensions. A tesseract begins to pass through our world just like how we passed the ball through that 2 dimensional world. We see a tiny cube grow from nothing mid air, it grows and grows and grows then suddenly stops and starts shrinking again until it disappears. The whole time we were looking at a 4 dimensional shape but we could only recognise it as a cube because that's all we can see. That is what a tesseract looks like to us, a cube. Because we simply don't have the perspective to understand anything beyond that just like how the stick figures can't see the whole circle or square at once.

The next dimension always adds a point of view that oversees the previous Dimension. 1. Infinite small dot 2. Line, you can see the dot(-s) from the side 3. You can see the whole line from above and move freely around it 4... So the fourth dimension would be able to oversee all of our 3 dimensions, like looking inside a closed room without opening it.
Youre starting with a zero-dimensional point. A one dimensional structure would just be a line where any persciever imbedded in this world would see it as an zero-dimensional representation of the world. Assuming the observer has the same kind of perception as us, every observer in an n-dimensional world sees it in n-1 dimensions. That would mean that a fourth dimensional being with the same kind of perception as us would see the world in three-dimensions.

Okay but let me try to explain it so it makes sense. For simplicity I’ll use a banana instead of a rectangle. If you saw a banana on your phone you would recognize it as a banana but it’s flat because it’s only shown on a 2d screen. If you had the banana in your hand here in 3d you would say that it’s a banana and it’s all here but that’s not entirely true. When you add a additional 90 degree angle to space you get 4d. In that 4d space you would finally notice now that you can see all sides of the banana from any point of view. The reason why the tesseract looks to be moving is because it’s attempting to show you the idea that you can see both inside and outside of the cube and before you even ask, yes you would be able to see inside of the banana from the outside of it.
The 4th dimension generally is accepted among scientist to be time. Although we cannot perceive time we see the effects of it, just like the fact that an ant can only see a falling pencil in 2d doesn't mean that there are only 2 dimensions to the pencil. This heavily contested theory is known as string theory if you want to learn more.
Time is a substrate that moves across all dimensions (?) , i mean why would 1D-3D involve shapes, yet 4D doesn’t? 4 dimensional beings exist in a space that we cannot conceive of, and we can presume that time has some effect on the 4th dimension as well, though it may be different
1st dimension is length, a line 2nd dimension is height, a square 3rd dimension is dept, a cube 4th dimension is said to be time or space or both Time and spacel is immaterial to us meaning we can't see or even touch it but we can feel it. In my theory the universe itself as a whole is the 4th dimension A fifth dimensional creature would perceive time like walking up a hill and down to us.
Imagine a sphere with a perfectly smooth reflective inside, you see every single thing that is happening inside it. That is the closest we could get to *precieving* the fourth dimension.
It is explicitly stated in the movie Interstellar that the place he falls into is NOT 4 dimensional space, but 3 dimensional space where time is also represented by a distance between segments in spacial dimensions.

Time is independent of spatial dimensions, so to say we live in a 4D world is misleading. Time may or may not be it’s own dimension, but as far as we know, it effects all dimensions independently.

Christopher nolans interpretation of the 4th dimension is a projection of time into 3 dimensions, creating a 3d space where you can access moments in time 4. The tesseract you showed is a projection of a 4 dimensional shape in 3 dimensions rendered into 2d so it can be viewed on a screen

My theory of time is that 1 smallest unit of time contains the states of all objects found in space. So 2D time has 2x states contained in 1 smallest unit of time. That means that is possible to have 1 objects in two states at the time for example. In 1st time axis object is 2 meters up But in 2nd time axis the same object is 5 meters up. However to make this possible you have to travel back in time in 1 axis because time travels only in one direction which makes impossible to change state of the object into different states at the same time because if we apply force on the object it'd move in 2 axis in the same direction. However if we go back in 1 time axis somehow that object would be for sure in two different states at "the same time". It's unknown what would happen to the object if we push 1st state of the object & how it'd affect second state.
A way you can imagine the fourth dimension is to think about cross-dimensional rendering. In this video (which you’re watching on a 2D screen) there was a representation of a cube (a 3D object). This cube wasn’t actually a cube or even close to actually resembling a cube but it responded a cube and we used our imagination to think of it as a cube. So if we had a 3D display of some sort that had a representation of a 4D tesseract then the dimensional shift would be the same as going from 2D to 3D.
It’s true, your eyes can only perceive 3 dimensions. Your mind however can perceive beyond that, hence why people who’ve taken DMT and close their eyes can ‘see’ shapes beyond 3 dimensions.
The concept of the fourth dimension is easier understood when you actually experience it and I found a game called 4D toys that lets you play around 4 dimensional objects and has very intuitive explanations on what higher dimensions are.
I'm sad that there aren't many more videos explaining in depth and in layman's terms about the topic of dimensions. People argue that we're 4D beings cause they say the 4th dimension is time. It kinda makes sense because in our universe, for 2 things to be in the same place, they need to be in the same position and at the same time. I think Neil deGrasse Tyson explains it very well on a episode of Star Talk
I was literally arguing against all my classmates once saying "we see things in 2D" and they refused to even think about my statement for a second and rejected the idea completely

The 4th dimension is simply magnification. I.E the expansion/contraction of everything from everywhere all at once. The tesseract is showing you a 3D slice of a cube being magnified. It's only complicated because the people explaining it don't understand it.
And now y’all should think about what dimension our consciousness works in, we don’t need eyes to feel behind an object, we don’t need a body to feel behind an object we just know there is a behind, our brains quite literally work in a higher dimension than we can perceive.
@@xqusyte554 He said direction which means spacial if we were talking about time he'd say what is 5d and guess what 5d time is infinitely less difficult to comprehend vs 4d space an example is this we have 3d spacial dimensions and 1td(time dimensions) which is 4th dimensions as we move foward in time now 5d would be theoretically be 3d space and 2td which is what 5 space (time) dimensions would be but 4d space is hard to comprehend for us as for us going backward and forwards in time is easy to comprehend ignoring paradoxes as we rewind videos to see it again and restart in a checkpoint or get a different ending in a game time travel is everywhere just not everything explains it.
The thing about the 4th dimension is, when people say the word "dimension" these days, they tend to think of it as something that is somehow separate from the "normal" space we perceive, but that isn't the case. The tesseract isn't _actually_ twisting in and out of itself, that's just what it _looks_ like when viewing only 3 of its 4 dimensions. What were seeing is _literally_ the _shadow_ of the tesseract, in the same way that a cube's shadow appears to change shape when rotated, even though it's a wholly static object that's simply rotating on an axis not present in the shadow. Another mind-bending way to theoretically understand the 4th dimension is to realize that a 4 dimensional axis chart would have _4_ lines, _W,_ X, Y and Z, which all intersect at the origin at a 90 degree angle relative to each other. And just _trying_ to picture that has me scraping at the doors of cosmic madness. XP
4d is an access door to anywhere in 3d space. Barton mentions it in the Avengers movie. That's how Loki arrived on Earth while they were trying to open a portal.
As an early mathematician I once fell down the rabbit hole of how the 4th dimension looked like and how it worked and the only thing I got out of that was a bunch of headaches and wasted time and energy
There is this subtopic in Mathematics called level surfaces. This helps us to understand the 4th dimension, if you light a torch and point it on a 4D shape , the "shadow" will be in a form of 3D object. These shadows halps with size and virtualising the original 4D shape. Just like when you analyse a 3D shape using level curves.
I know for a fact when some one is in a sleep paralysis He gets to surely experience 4th dimension cuz According to rules of 4th dimension a 3rd dimension being is only able to record(hearing , feeling ,seeing , but not able to move the body) and
Btw, your eyes do perceive 3 dimensionally, pretty much by swapping back and forth between each eye very quickly, giving you a 3 dimensional perspective.

So a 4th-dimensional being sees a see-through world, or have access to see in 380 degrees angle, so they'll see a sphere in all angles. 5-D is defy gravity and energy. I'd say Interstellar doesn't exactly get a 4th spacial dimension, but it certainly is one of the coolest representations of a kind of time dimension represented in space.
It said in interstellar that the 5D beings created a 3D representation of a 4D space to help them understand it
i'd say it's cool but not 4d time but more like 5d time as it goes both forward and backwards i think i haven't seen it.
Because we simply don't have the perspective to understand anything beyond that just like how the stick figures can't see the whole circle or square at once.
the 4th dimention is just another axis that's 90° off to the rest just like the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
Time is the fourth dimension. Physicists now say that the past the present, and the future occur simultaneously. That’s what was represented at the end of the movie. He could see the past present and future all at the same time.

From one side the tesseract just look like the outline of a cube with the outline of another transparent cube inside it.
My theory of time is that 1 smallest unit of time contains the states of all objects found in space.
So 2D time has 2x states contained in 1 smallest unit of time.
That means that is possible to have 1 objects in two states at the time for example.
In 1st time axis object is 2 meters up
But in 2nd time axis the same object is 5 meters up.

XP

Yea it's the same reason you have 2 ears, 1 ear gives you the direction of a noise, the other tells you how far away the noise is.
Yeah but that's how we perceive perspective not how we see 3d because 2d beings would see only lines but us we see the full on 2d world so seeing in 3d wouldn't be the same as seeing 3d as 4d beings see all of 3d.
@@landynbrinyark718right because 2d beings see the line that represents the square. They can experience the square by bumping into it out going over it so they know that the line they saw was a square and not a circle but they can't see either. A 3d person while not being able to exist in the 2d, has a different vantage point that allows it to see the 2d and experience the 3d.
That's fake 3d, if we can see 3d we would be able to Perceive inside if objects
In a behind the scenes footage. It was actually described as a 5th dimensional tesseract by one of the astrophysicists who worked on the movie. It was not the fourth dimension
yeah it was insinuated that 5d living beings created the space for him to influence the past as these 5d beings would come from the humans he saved here.
@@sayanbose4931 I can only imagine, some random ass TikTok kid living today could be the direct ancestor to some 5th dimensional harnessing, exceedingly evolved humans in the very, very, very far future.
I've always imagined the dimensions as movements.
0-D is dot which exists but fixed in one place.
1-D is line which is movement left-right or up-down.
2-D is square which is up down left right.
3-D access to all possible angles axis in a plane.
4-D in my theory, is an access to matter and space meaning you're like a ghost, can cross on walls, meaning you can move your body at will in any path imaginable. So a 4th-dimensional being sees a see-through world, or have access to see in 380 degrees angle, so they'll see a sphere in all angles.
5-D is defy gravity and energy. You're like existing but never present. And a 5th-dimensonal being are the ones experiencing the real time dimension, constant time since they're outside space and time we're experiencing right now with also the time dilation stuff.
