  • In this video, I look at the Quakerly origins behind such festive favourites of Heroes and Quality Street chocolates that we see so much of during Christmas. We look at why Quakers were originally into chocolate production and what effect this had on the industry as a whole, as well as how these Quaker entrepreneurs took their Quaker ideals into business with them.
    APOLOGIES for the sound quality, I am not sure what happened there but I think the wrong microphone was picked up...

    JL Kraft, who started the Kraft company was Mennonite in his young days, but no idea how long that carried with him.

    I like the coconut one. But the orange one is better. Also - Rowntrees were definitley known outside of Yorkshire (though to be fair, I grew up in Lincolnshire which is only next-door).
