The first time i attended a Meeting i almost fell asleep twice. The second Meeting i had a strong calling to speak, but i felt nervous, overly conscious about 'being the new person' and i didn't say anything. It takes a while to settle and become comfortable in the time without feeling like something should be happening, especially for new people. But once everything starts flowing the power of silence can say everything.
I am not a Friend, but I am a friend. I have a passing familiarity with Buddhist/Zen group meditation. People gather in silence, enter the meditation space in silence, take no notice of others, remain focused on getting seated, and go from there. Know also that others are not taking any notice of you. Any intrusion on the silence such as a cell phone going off or a noisy vehicle outside would hardly be noticed due to the transient nature of such disturbances. No talking is ever allowed except in emergency. I think my experience with Quaker meetings will be similar, except for occasional inspirational talking. Thank you for all your work with Quake It Up.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts about when silent worship doesn't go as planned. I see "unsuccessful" silent worship as an extemporaneous lesson in patience, understanding, perseverance, and concentration. This makes the attendance worthwhile and meaningful regardless, even when it was not initially as desired or anticipated.
Most hilarious one yet. In the conclusion after you say "you're not even in it for you, you're there for uoholding the meeting..." -- or for upholding a cat! And a big floofy one at that! 😂😅😊 (I usually just listen to the audio without watching the video. I'm so glad i re-listened to this one and just happened to see that glorious moment! 🙌)

Absolutely agree with all of this! It took me a good few months to feel comfortable with the groove of my new meeting

Haha! I like it when they cohost!
@Quake-It-Up haha. Yes. They do A great job of making their presence known! 👏 😆 🙃
[Favorite moment: Seeing that floofy cat cradled in your arms as you speak! 🥰😍]
They’ve both got better with filming so I get fewer distractions now!
So glad I found this channel. Thanks.
It’s great to have you!
It's true!
We Catholics offer it up. It helps
