      Thanks for your service, Mike. The UC program is so good because it is so real world practical, removes the BS, knows it’s ‘me,me,me,me,finish’ and not some series of movie moves that will get you hurt or worse, and just gives you the best chance of getting home safe if you are cornered and cannot evade/escape/loophole etc. We must also pay our full respects to Lee Morrison the head of UC.

    I like this entry a lot because you can use it in the chaos of a fight without the need for a good timed block with the arm (which will be very difficult to do) AND it is very possible that you have done damage with the first impact and can follow up.
    It was a very nice seminar - highly recommended!

    • @alexmousley7213
      @alexmousley7213 4 місяці тому

      Indeed, it's very realistic- simple and requires no fine motor skills- I like the combined block/attack- when I did Ju Jitsu we learnt that all blocks are blows designed to damage as well as to block. But I like this style of street protection for the universal moves and simplicity.

    • @mutant0177
      @mutant0177 3 місяці тому +1

      @@alexmousley7213 I agree - in the first moment it almost sounds like it is too easy. But you have a kind of one-size-fits-all solution at least for the first contact. I also do sparring in krav maga class and I can tell you, you loose timing and reflexes very fast (2 months without training and you suck). But it is logical because in the boxing range you are highly dependend on this skills. Long story short - this blitz tactics alone will give you a lot of benefit.

  • @alexmousley7213
    @alexmousley7213 Рік тому +3

    Oh boy, the poor guy helping the teacher! This looks totally street defence realistic- it doesn't require fine motor skills or great timing and combines the defence with the attack with elbow and knee strikes- which are increbily powerful and don't require years to perfect like roundhouse kicks, making them highly practical. I need to learn some of this, though I am getting old!

      Indeed. When I did Ju Jitsu (quite a few years ago)- although it's a bit reactive, all the blocks are blows designed to incapacitate the attacking arm, though I like the technique in the video as it is applicaple in many situations and simplicity means it's much more likely to work under stress.

Its a good mindset though.The thing about combatives is you need to practise fighting/sparring as a back up in case your first shot doesnt work and they clinch or hit you back,then its basically an mma fight for survival.

    People always say these self defense classes are bullshit and don't work in real life, but they are wrong on this one, the first attack does a LOT more damage than you think, once in the throat can mean his life is gone, so never use it if your life doesn't depend on it, because you will break someone's throat at that means he can't breathe and will die quickly, use it against the face or chest, against the chest hurts a TON, same goes for the face, it is effective cause if someone punches, you step in and simultanliously will dodge the punch, i tried this with a friend, no the technique but i tried to grab my friend while he was punching me and it worked during sparring, so going in with a elbow and with major force will give you 2-3 MINIMUM to continue beat him or run away, i think the last throw on the ground won't work if you aren't really strong or you are and the opponent is really heavy, always use two hand to do so, so i think grabbing his neck with a upper hand and choking him is better, or continue beating him a few more times in the face, with that position like that a foot sweep is the BEST to tackle your opponent, when on the ground put your knee on him and put your whole weight on him with your force and beat or choke him out

    The bad thing when using ur elbows,is you can get counter with a kick or punch...way before he can connect!

      This is done in confined spaces. And as a reactive dynamic if you failed to go first. I would never use this “in the open”

      Well,even if it was in a confined space.it would be better to strike with the elbows rather than ,pushed off!

    The spike elbow is effective but students of self defence must first be taught the verbal distraction techniques and physical tells that clever assailants will use to sucker attack.

    If you are built like a tank and tower your opponent by shoulder length anything will do the job but indeed poky elbow is an ingenious technique 👌.
