Hey, What type of sony radio you have exactly? I have Sony CD, looks like yours. I have checked on ebay for this module, but all auctions shows that all of them are not for focus MK2. Can you tell me which exact model I have to look for to get it working with my sony radio?
+DarekTube1 I think that the ony requirement for the radio is to have firmware version above 5. I did the upgrade on a MK2 facelift focus using a module from a 2010 Fiesta. I am not really sure whether there is any difference between MK2 and MK2 facelift head units. The serial number of my unit is 8M5T-19C112-AN. You may want to have a look at this thread on fordowners: www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/51078-bluetooth-install-guide/ or you may even post a question whether this should work for MK2 as well. I do remember that in this topic they mention other serial numbers that work as well.
Hello, I have a 2009 MK2 facelift Focus Titanium X and Sony multimedia. There is a phone icon but bluetooth function is not working. I do not know if there is a bluetooth module in it. I want to ask that do I need an extra bluetooth module in addition to the usb/bluetooth music module that you had installed? In other words, do I need basic bluetooth call module before new module and firmware update? And what do you think about the sound quality of usb and bt function? I use high quality CDs and am a bit audiophile :)
You would have to replace the headunit control module, I am afraid. BT/USB playback support is not something that you simply turn on. You say that your unit does not support phone BT connectivity, I am afraid that the upgrade would probably not be possible. You could still have a look at on what module you need and how to replace the original one. As per audio quality: AFAIK, USB playback only supports MP3 and WMV. Therefore it would produce the same quality if you played a CD with MP3 files. It does not support lossless formats (such as FLAC) so theoretically achieving high-quality audio CD sound should not be possible. However, my mortal ear finds it hard to distinguish high-quality MP3 from playing an audio CD. When using BT to play music (spotify on my phone) the quality is the same as playing back a decent MP3. There are however intermittent sound breaks that last for just few milliseconds, feels like BT connection catch up with data stream quick enough. It is not irritating, it just happens occasionally.
Hi, I have a bad English, so there is a small request . Can you throw a link on Aliexpress or ebay that you need to buy , so you can use USB, BT Audio, how are you in the video ? Radio I have exactly the same as yours . I hope to help , thank you!
+Armen Babayan Hi, you would need to replace the interface module, here is one which supports BT and USB: www.fordpartsuk.com/shop/ford_fiesta_mobile_phone_bluetooth_voice_control_interface_module___f_1806653_c_460.htm You would of course need the Sony headunit as well, as far as I know its firmware version should be at least 5.x.x and above
@@danailster Hello, can you please type an exact name/type of the interface? I couldn't find it over the link you've listed. I'd love to purchase it. Thx
+Diego Bahena The only option to enable the bluetooth audio is to replace the unit control module supporting it. You may want to check out www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/51078-bluetooth-install-guide/ for details on how to do that. My old module supported bluetooth phone connectivity but did not support BT audio. Replacing it was all I had to do.
