To be clear. Nothing wrong with voting NO to sailing. It's the narrowminded attitude, speculation and harassment towards Jagex & Jmods because of the results that is a what's wrong with some people that vote No (yes voters do it too I am aware)
A gold sink in a game is necessary for the longevity of the games life. In a game where gold can be created from pvm, with such problems as botting, a gold sinking skill is the best chance at hopes of saving an already saturated market place.
We are morons because we don't won't our game ruin by fuck turds like you? You are annoying. And polls was rigged! Be happy fuck Turd you got your skill.
@KingCondor Go look at the poll for "Should we add a new skill to OSRS" Compare that with the Sailing poll. edit 26:00 during the video 191,172 votes on adding a new skill to the game There was only 1 question asked in that poll. Why did Jagex not have Sailing as a 1 Question poll Similar to the "should we add a new skill" Which was only 1 question.
I agree, it isn't old school. I could care less how much they're trying to recreate RS3. Raids are stupid and not worth the effort. Half the bosses aren't either. Shit, 90% of them aren't. It's why the game will die and continue to die. It's just like wow, dumb asses building for a very few people will ruin the game.
The fact that jagex even does polls makes them one of the most considerate gaming companies there is. I rarely care what the results are, im always just grateful players get any choice.
They only do the polls because they nuked the game once and can’t be trusted to make decisions on their own. They didn’t add the pills because they are considerate they did it because the community was so outraged and the game almost died. Are you new here?
because the last time they just updated some stupid crap nobody wanted (eoc) they lost a shit ton of players within the first year. I just wish they didn't bring sailing in again when the player base already voted no to once.. they just keep bringing it back until it passes i guess. a new skill awesome just wish it was something dif. that everyone voted no to it already. prob why they wanted to change the poll system from 80% to 70% because sailing almost passed the first time if it was 70% at 68% ( they first brought it up sep 10th 2015)
Nah it's mostly useless. Players don't know what they want, what's good or bad for the game, and as we can see jagex will get something through a poll if they want.
I actually would like to see you unironically make a (quick) COX guide for all the rooms. You don't have to go super in-depth, but as someone who wants to learn I think a video from you would help.
I'm one of the skeptical ones for sailing. I voted no personally but ofc i'll try it and if it's good then that's great. I want what's good for the health of the game and if Jagex proves me wrong then no problem with that.
I really think Sailing should have been question 1, but its a pretty minor thing tbh. I still think it would have passed regardless. I also voted no, but I'm not going to whine about it lmao.
Only bringing this up because of the new slayer monsters. Slayer should be reworked sooner than later. Some bosses should be lowered so the top end can have more creatures. Kraken should be 83 slayer and hydra should be 93 slayer pushing everything in between to a respective place (excluding Sire). Slayer should not be a complete skill at T75 items. There's so much more head room for items but not enough for creatures with Hydra coming in at 97 slayer and only dropping T75s. We basically have room for 2 more bosses to drop slayer items of value, level 98 and level 99. Sure they can have 5 level 99 bosses but I'd rather see it balanced. Everyone knows Krakens reqs don't match the fight anyways. Same with hydra. Just move everything down a little bit, I don't see that hurting anything.
Yeah I think the issue was less about needing a magic staff between Iban’s and Trident of the Seas and more about needing 87 Slayer to even fight the thing that drops seas. Boss is way too easy to be locked behind that high of a Slayer level.
You mentioned that "sailing was probably the worst of the three". I really wish Jagex would have polled the top two skill choices against each other. Don't get me wrong I'm totally cool with sailing - I just think that a 3 choice poll is how you eliminate one and then poll the top two. I'm fairly confident a good majority of players that voted for shamanism/taming would not have voted for sailing if their first choice was removed.
i still want taming think how i feel =( will i ever get to watch my chaos ele battle other people's pets teleporting them all over the floor while i woodcut? no =(
I was a Shamanism voter but followed Sailing development closely and was ultimately convinced by the end of it. My biggest concern was that Shamanism voters would spite vote against Sailing due to the close margin of the first poll. I tried to warn as many as I could that if that happened, Sailing voters would just do the same to Shamanism. I’m glad to see that either it didn’t happen, or it didn’t happen in numbers large enough to matter. Maybe in 5-6 years we’ll have a second shot at Shamanism, but until then, Sailing looks like it’s going to be quite fun.
Yeah Jagex didn't rig this sailing vote. But they DID rig the initial Sailing/Shamanism/Taming vote! Maybe rig is a strong word, but they set up that vote idiotically. First Past The Post vote to decide between 3 skills when only one of the skills had previously been established in the public consciousness(sailing). It had a history, and while it's pitch was quite different from the past pitch a few years ago, it was subconciously already fleshed out more than Shamanism and Taming.
A new skill vote was always going to be contentious, there's no way any new skill was going to have a majority that was far above the pass threshold. You still immediately have groups of people voting no solely on the basis that it's a new skill at all (they don't want to grind it, think it will ruin the game because it's no longer old school, etc.),and that's before getting to the people who will vote no after actually looking at the merits of the skill. I think it's lunacy to think that any new skill poll will get anywhere close to the 90+ results that the rest of the questions got. Just because the try for a new skill was finally successful for the first time in osrs doesn't make the poll rigged. I'm glad to be part of the quieter majority today. You brought up some good points Condor, was happy to listen.
i thought a lot of the pitches for sailing were cool but even until the end i cant see why it should be a skill. I honestly think they could put everything in the game without it becoming its own skill
The "spirit realm" substitute in DT2 was really interesting though. I wonder what they could have done with it if Shamanism was to pass or if that could become a new mechanic in some another way. I still like how sailing was pitched and after a bit of thought I voted yes as well even though I would like to keep the old school aspect of the game as much as possible (wouldn't have liked the new prayer book as the new bis for example). Still not sure how it will feel when the coasts are full of boats. Maybe there should be an option to "hide water entities" when aground (a runelite plugin will come for sure). Also putting the question in between was a bit odd, but I get it. They have already spent a lot of resources towards the skill and ditching it now would mean a lot of time and money wasted.
Nerds who spend 14 hours a day playing a video game wanted a skill you would train mindlessly for hours to reach a high level to be able to enchant an armour or weapon, while people who spend 1-3 hours a day playing the game who have a job, family and life wanted something new and fun added to the game. In the end Jagex said that other skills would be voted upon to be added to the game so I don't understand why the no life community is crying when the majority of the game wanted a new way to train a skill and a skill that brought exploration and a lot of new content
Could a "Pick your own" raid system not work if the balanced the rooms you pick with drop rate %. So if people are only choosing the quick and effortless rooms, the chances of getting a purple are way lower?
I don't like the idea of sailing, think they could have came up with something better, would have preferred shamanism but at the same time it's kind of whatever
I could see after so many completions of the raid you could set a preference of the lay out and it could just increase the chance of your preferred but doesnt guarantee it
Problem with polls is you have 90% of players voting on content they haven’t even played and don’t even know about. I would say 90% have never ran COX. I myself included and I’ve done 400kc expert 400+ toa. Cox came out when I wasn’t playing and I haven’t got to it yet. So I voted yes on something I truly wasn’t fully informed about. And I’m a high level player getting close to max and still I myself don’t know everything let alone the rest of players Voting
I think the guy commenting 'why was sailing vs shamanism not polled?' was asking because Jagex had said prior to the initial poll that a close result would lead them to do a run-off vote between the 2. And then they back-tracked that and didn't do a run-off poll.
Imo I think they should make scouting impossible. Sure you could get into the first room and if you don't like it, reset, but for most it will be too much more of a time investment to reset then eventually just learn the rooms they don't like.
I voted no because even after the development blogs it didnt look like a skill I would enjoy. Seems pretty logical right? I shouldn't vote yes to something I don't like after all. Unfortunately, many yes-voters grabbed their pitchforks because I didnt see the light of Jesus... I mean sailing. "Did you even read the development blogs?! Did you even watch the videos they posted?! You only voted no because you're uniformed!" They don't seem to grasp the concept that someone can be informed and still not like the skill. I don't care if somone likes it and votes yes. But piss off trying to convert me when I don't like it. I'll give it a shot when it releases and see if my mind has changed then.
As someone who wanted shamanism like yourself I take the approach of that bloke from twitter who said although it is not what I wanted, if I dont enjoy the skill I just wont train it past what I need to like I have done with agility for quest cape for example but I trust that Jagex will do a good job when it comes out and maybe I will be surprised. I only wish they did a second poll with exclusively shamanism and sailing because it was such a slim margin separating it and the extra ~40k votes that went into taking getting redistributed could have been a more accurate indication either way.
Dude I cant wait to set sail, honestly think it fits into the world perfectly, and the dev team has knocked it out of the park with the design of the skill. I am looking forward to how the skill develops over time and how it can open the world up to new adventures
100% agree. I voted sailing from the first poll but was a bit hesitant, but they've completely blown my expectations out of the water with the skill breakdown. I can say, without a doubt, if Sailing was polled against Shamanism and Taming again, I would absolutely vote Sailing.
This is Old School Runescape. Not '07 Runescape. The idea behind OSRS in the first place was a "What if we kept developing the game but never had EoC or Treasure Hunter." Old School is a term that describes the look and feel of how the game plays. Old School hasnt described the updates added to the game for the past 5yrs or so. Anyone who uses the "This is Old School Runescape" argument should immediately be ignored. They don't even know what the title means, much less what's good for the game.
Voted no to the glouphrie quest because I remember both the quest and subsequent slayer task in rs3 were dogshit. Osrs developers have done well at plotting their own course when it comes to quests so would prefer to see an original continuation
I voted yes (not just because I got a big pirate hat from an elite clue). I'm very much looking forward to Sailing. It is funny, however, how they sandwiched the Sailing question right after 5 questions that are no-brainer "yes" votes.
The poll change was great tbh. 70% is fair and one can argue they could have went lower. It's almost like the change weeded out the people who voted no for everything. Re-poll the divine.
There is also an option to pass on a question if you don't understand it. I have one COX KC and it was because a friend helped me for like 2 hours lol. 2.1k total but I just enjoy other things like clue scrolls. I passed on the COX questions and voted yes for sailing even though I've been hesitant from the start. It is going to change the game allot and I am kinda worried that allot is changing really fast but I trust most of the JMods. In the big picture they've been very good to us for a long time.

My biggest worry with sailing is we will vote and pass all these really fun, cool sounding stuff. Then it won't come out due to people whining it's too, strong/ broken/ game engine work. Its already happened with Forestry, DT2, and the Shadow. They were voted one way and instead of working with the issues, they just scrapped them.
Entirely agree. I really wanted to see teas from forestry and so i voted and they passed, but 1 reddit goober cried and it was scrapped. Im really worried the ppl who voted no will get the biggest say in their little reddit posts and alter the skill for the people that do want it
I can't really see how anything Sailing is adding is going to be broken or strong in the same way that a new prayer book that would change everything about pvm would be. Most of Sailing's new content is going to be stuff that is completely new territory, all the combat related aspects of Sailing will probably be unique to the sea. If anything one of the best things about Sailing is that they can create a new combat category that doesn't impact the existing combat triangle which is good for slowing down power creep. One of the issues they always have to deal with when making a new boss is what is its unique going to be and how will it not kill other existing gear, with Sailing you can add more unqiues that are combat related but only work against sea monsters or give you bonuses to your ship. The parts of Forestry that failed where things that would of given pretty big buffs to xp/hr for other skills, the closest thing Sailing has to that is new training methods that over lap with other skills which most players usually like. Sailing is basically just a big expansion to the game, its not meta shifting like the few updates that haven't passed their poll.
It isn't even that close to 70%. 2% of users is quite a lot. Also you are right, when the results came, I was doing some GOTR and there was literally no one in the group of 200 players in there that had any negative comments about Sailing. Everyone was either excited or hopefull.
I'd be down if Jagex made a learner version of CoX where u can pick between a few premade layouts. When learning CoX isnt as straightfoward as ToA/ToB where you can just follow a guide or learn one boss at a time. If the learner room also dropped additional supplies I think it'd really help close the gap between the average player and raids.
I wish the new skill was something better than boat riding but idk man we kinda need a new skill to shake things up. A lot of people will be able to hit new skill lvl total worlds
I want sailing, just not as a 'Skill' Sailing as a skill seems too much like a static thing in an un-fleshed out area. (water just doesnt have the content to support a whole skill, including the proposed stuff, unless they want to content creep for the next 10 years and it will ONLY be sailing related content.) You don't see "Cave diving" as a skill, yet out of the gate it would have more content than sailing with its fingers in all/most of the skills sailing is planning to have. Notice I DID NOT say dungeoneering. IMO Dungeoneering is the slippery slope to RS3, and Sailing just seems more and more like a static dungeoneering. (And I liked dungeoneering initially.) That said, I know my place. A voiceless 2000+ total level main pleb. And at the end of the day, I'm just here for the dumpster fire to come. (I dont post on forums/reddit. Nor am I in a clan) Side Note: they need to mix taming/shamism OR put it where it belongs with hunter(Taming) and Magic(Shamism "spellbook"AKA More spells for Ancients/Standard/Arc/Lunar)
I don't mind that The scouting one passed for chambers, but I think you're right that we shouldn't be able to pick exactly the rates we want cuz that would allow the bots to just run wild but I would like to see maybe a high tier end game requirement or set of requirements that instead of allowing you to completely remove rooms or select the raids you want maybe it allows you to slightly weigh which rooms you do get, so you can set muttadiles for example a double opportunity to be in the raid and then maybe vanguards down to .75%
Maybe they could even keep like a separate weekly or monthly scoreboard for Chambers and do like the top 200 KCs or the top 200 point earners and the people that meet that threshold and are in that top 200 spot only they get the opportunity to weight their raids
Jagex doesnt honestly care that much about bots due to the simple fact that most of them are spending alot more then you or i per month to jagex. If someone runs 100 bots at say 10 dollars a month each thats a hell of alot more then you paying 10 dollars a month for 1 acc. Its all about money for them hence why there are bots with 200m xp in stats..
I'm on the fence king... There's a clear financial incentive. Let's say there is modest £100 ph of business costs - office, keeping the lights on, salaries, taxes, insurances, server costs etc that are all packaged in to an osrs development team working hour. I'd give a estimate of 1000 man hours of time allocated to this project (I'm pulling that from my arse) but considering dev team, marketing, writing polls, editing videos, team meeting, senior manager meetings, q&as. I can easily see more man hours than that being involved. That's £100,000 of costs for pitching this skill. That's a lot of bananas. I'm not saying the poll was rigged, but there's a clear financial incentive to ensure that this poll passes, especially as I can imagine this will generate more revenue than usual at launch. The argument could be made that the dev time isn't wasted as they've learned new things about the engine and pushed it further, which hopefully will go into some of the other content polled. The difference between a new boss being added and a new skills is massive in terms of dev time and attention. I'm not surprised that skilling passed. Either there are some very squeaky arse moment in Jagex HQ, or there has been some manipulation. Either way, Sailing is coming!
As someone who doesn’t use The Platform Formally Known As Twitter™, I had no idea folks were so up in arms about Sailing. It looks incredible and lines the path for other skills to make their way to the game later down the line should everything go smoothly. Change isn’t bad, it’s how games grow.
there's a playerbase that wants "new content" but then in the same sentence will say, "but keep it old school" and while i sort of know what they mean i dont think they fully understand everything they are gatekeeping, while simultaneously crying that jagex isnt doing good updates. the game needs to evolve or more players will only stick around for events like league, because A LEAGUE ISNT OLD SCHOOL AT ALL and thats why its fun. old school gets boring for a lot of the veteran players. we want something new. not rs3 new, but jesus christ we cant say no to everything.
@@HelaKela yeah, bring up a nearly 2 decade old change and think it holds the same value as adding a new skill to a game that hasn't had anything genuinely new since leagues/dmm. You're correct. Not all change is good change... but no change is why, although the playerbase is growing, it's veterans are leaving...
Sailing was covered pretty extensively during the Summer Summit. I think it was towards the end iirc. So they just kind of polled all the new content they talked about. I thought it was pretty fitting.
The thing that made OSRS no longer OSRS were things that made the game easier with tons of free xp or xp boosts, added lootboxes and the wheel of fortune, removed trade and the wildy, and most especially changed combat. sailing will be its own thing just like farming - it won't change 99% of the gameplay
G.E. tax is already the perfect gold sink, would rather see it be olm scales or something like that - and you get them at the end of a raid. They can be tradable or not, and the more you want to scale the raid the more the scale cost increases. Use this same system for modifying scouts. Aggressively increase the price of the cox currency for each additional change you do. so if you really want to craft a custom raid it's gonna be hella expensive. If you want to make your raids 5 rooms every time it's not gonna be that expensive.
You're spot on about Jagex having zero reason to rig the polls. They get money from players subscribing. Content people want to play will get them to subscribe. So they should make content people want to play. How are these people so dumb? It's really not that difficult
Okay, so if sailing failed because it got 66% then Jagex lowers it to pass at 65% THAT IS RIGGING THE POLLS. How low do you want this to get King? Because they'll do it.
26:00 during the video 191,172 votes on adding a new skill to the game There was only 1 question asked in that poll. Why did Jagex not have Sailing as a 1 Question poll Similar to the "should we add a new skill" Which was only 1 question.
What would you think about choosing one guaranteed boss to appear in CoX and blocking one puzzle type of room? Like doing hard Kourend diary for puzzle block and elite for boss guarantee and you can have really nice layouts. Knowing how rotations in cox work picking one boss would guarantee skip of another type of boss, since they are paired: Tekton - Shamans Vespula - Mystics Vasa - Muttadiles Guardians - Vanguards Picking Tekton would guarantee no shamans, picking Muttadiles would guarantee no Vasa etc making it actually a boss pick and block at the same time. Since you don't know if rotation will start with your boss you are only slightly limiting the number of possible rotations, but you can guarantee ovl raids or no-vespula raids for learners. Blocking puzzle rooms is quite nice for speed, like no ice demon/thieving or some shit.
Issue with blocking any 2 rooms you could just block Vanguards and Guardians and you will be stuck with 4 rotations only: VTV, muta-shaman-mystics, mystics-tekton-muta, vasa-shamans-vespula increasing the odds for good layout significantly
A thought about the scouting: If you're just able to scout these things yourself quickly and easily, doesn't that just entirely invalidate the purpose of the bots that are currently used for scouting? Even if the price of some of those items drops, I never thought that better availability of higher tier items was that much of a problem, and it really makes progression seem less daunting for newer players, and newer players need to feel like these things are achievable to stick around imo.
17:40 WoW Classic is the worst case of lost potential I’ve ever seen from an revival. OSRS literally built the framework on how you bring back an older version and iterate on it. I will never understand why the devs never tried to make an OSWoW.
I voted no for Sailing purely because I don't want the skill to be sailing themed, but I don't doubt they will do a good job with it. I just wish it was it's own thing, not a skill. However, the new skill vote is the BIGGEST single question in any poll for several years, and putting it where it was in the middle of an otherwise "easy yes" poll was a little sketchy for me. I don't mind that it passed, I'm with you in saying they will probably do a good job, but not a fan of how it was polled.
As an iron who skips all V rooms (in a duo team), it makes sense to receive some sort of punishment for trying to get an ideal layout (at the moment, it's time, but a random amount of time that decreases with the number of players). They could just introduce a room that takes a flat ~45-60 seconds or just a waiting room to make up for the skipping. Honestly though, scouting really isn't that bad, I care more about scaling. Gold sinks are a bit shit for Irons though, perhaps you could pay with tokens (from CoX) or money?
Bro people complaining about it passing is fucking hilarious, you're lucky you even get a say in something like this, 95% of online games out there today will make vast changes like this without asking their community full stop.
I agree with having people use the Jagex launcher to vote. All of my personal opinion set aside there was probably wayyyy more people with alts voting yes than there were no. That honestly could've been the deciding factor too.
A lot of players are simple minded and forget that the jmods who create the content we enjoy want to make content. Having to scrap content because it didn't meet an arbitrary number in polls is kind of shit for them I imagine. Like say you're a jmod, you make concepts for a piece of content, you have all these cool ideas, your super hyped to get started on it, you even bring these up to the team, they love it and want to help bring it alive, you poll it, annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd it fails by a measly 1-2% or whatever. You now wasted a good chunk of time and maybe even resources for an idea that will never see the light of day. How shitty and devastating would that be? Shifting polls from 75 to 70% doesn't eliminate this but it definitely helps. I imagine they have data on poll averages or whatever. Not to shit on polls or anything, it's probably prevented a good chunk of dogshit from entering the game.
I often raid with ironmen. The annoying part there is, we kinda need Muttadiles usually, if they're not 90 herblore. (and it's a drag even if they have that lvl). So I feel there could be something done there, that you can just choose one guaranteed room or something, to make scouting easier to get a group of people together where the ironman gets Mutt for an overload.
It's crazy how so many people get to have a say in these polls. Huge CoX changes and over 90% of the community is saying yes? I doubt that many people have even seen the raid entrance.
I like the gold sink idea for scaling CoX. Folks are paying boosters like 500k per person per raid to scale for them. Just sink that gold from the game and get the same result; ez!
not ganna lie i trust the developers now and I am not trying to deep throat them. but the updates have been nearly flawless for the last two years ive been playing
they should take out one of the three boards and replace it with rotateable discs that resemble the wiki layout, and you can roll between either side that way it can still be random while still letting you pick, and it could maybe push into a vasa or wherefer
as for the polls, 75-70 change was like a year ago and voted for if i remember right, ot highly requested and looks to me helps vs spite voters, it had a week and obviously ppl reading or that last question would have way higher
Great points. People are making extreme, tin foil hat conspiracies over this. Really they're just in grief for not getting the skill they want. Denial is the first stage, wait till these boys throw tantrums, beg Jagex to reconsider/repoll, cry and "quit" Runescape, then when Sailing comes in the game accept that it's a fun addition to the game.
Honestly, I don’t often agree with your opinions generally, however everything you’ve said here is spot on. Some strange people out there who are following the herd of the minority that they see on social media. I can’t wait for this skill 🙏
I think another important point a lot of people miss is only 80% of players wanted a new skill at all, which means sailing already had a hard "No" of 20% against. So of the people who would ever even consider voting for Sailing, 7 out of 8 of them voted yes. That's a resounding yes for Sailing imo.
Just dont want a new currency taking space in the bank for cox, i think using gp for scaling is fine. I also believe we should be able to pick 1 room not to have in cox and up it to 2 rooms after completing a cm.(edited for phone autocorrect)

That’s true, I’ve never seen a guide for anything other than the solo olm fight. Everything before this is an absolute blank.
agreed
Sync has a great guide for all bosses. It's long but he breaks down everything.
This would be great!
100% agree, would be an awesome guide I bet

100% agree, slayer level requirements are too high. Especially compared to the combat level requirements to wield the gear they drop.
Good idea
Yeah I think the issue was less about needing a magic staff between Iban’s and Trident of the Seas and more about needing 87 Slayer to even fight the thing that drops seas. Boss is way too easy to be locked behind that high of a Slayer level.
You mentioned that "sailing was probably the worst of the three". I really wish Jagex would have polled the top two skill choices against each other. Don't get me wrong I'm totally cool with sailing - I just think that a 3 choice poll is how you eliminate one and then poll the top two. I'm fairly confident a good majority of players that voted for shamanism/taming would not have voted for sailing if their first choice was removed.
i still want taming think how i feel =( will i ever get to watch my chaos ele battle other people's pets teleporting them all over the floor while i woodcut? no =(
Wait......... So people were making alts to downvote the poll but accuse Jagex of rigging? Sounds about right for the iq of the community.
Maybe in 5-6 years we’ll have a second shot at Shamanism, but until then, Sailing looks like it’s going to be quite fun.
i wanted all 3 of the new skills to pass =D
Yeah Jagex didn't rig this sailing vote. But they DID rig the initial Sailing/Shamanism/Taming vote!
Maybe rig is a strong word, but they set up that vote idiotically. First Past The Post vote to decide between 3 skills when only one of the skills had previously been established in the public consciousness(sailing).
It had a history, and while it's pitch was quite different from the past pitch a few years ago, it was subconciously already fleshed out more than Shamanism and Taming.
Im a daily player and I've never even looked at RuneScape on Twitter 😂
👑 thanks for being levelheaded and productive throughout the whole new skill process
What is VTB in cox?..
i thought a lot of the pitches for sailing were cool but even until the end i cant see why it should be a skill. I honestly think they could put everything in the game without it becoming its own skill
Eh, the same is true for slayer honestly
And I’m a high level player getting close to max and still I myself don’t know everything let alone the rest of players
Voting
Changed my pov on the layout proposal. Good shit King, keep it up
I'm excited about sailing. I think this is the start of some huge updates.
Players care about osrs polling and its implications more than voting irl 😂
Such a stand up community
I think the guy commenting 'why was sailing vs shamanism not polled?' was asking because Jagex had said prior to the initial poll that a close result would lead them to do a run-off vote between the 2. And then they back-tracked that and didn't do a run-off poll.
What a braindead take.. a new raid has no where near the amount of change as a new skill does
Keen as for sailing. Glad they got it in with the 'tricks' they used. They did what they had to do whilst honouring their commitment to the polls.
Thank you for being logically sound King.
I agree with your takes, but sailing was talked about in the summer summit.
😂love your takes dude. Miss catching the streams but the videos are gold as always!
@@random1234100seethe
Dont you think the same thing will happen with shamanism? How the drill down it done with sailing should be done with any other skill.
Play iron economy no longer matters. Problem solved
This is Old School Runescape. Not '07 Runescape.
The idea behind OSRS in the first place was a "What if we kept developing the game but never had EoC or Treasure Hunter."
Old School is a term that describes the look and feel of how the game plays. Old School hasnt described the updates added to the game for the past 5yrs or so.
Anyone who uses the "This is Old School Runescape" argument should immediately be ignored. They don't even know what the title means, much less what's good for the game.
as a maxed player i cant wait to see new content in the game!
For the improved scouting, have a scaling multiplier for blacklisting certain bosses. ie. 500k for 1 boss, 2m for 2 bosses, 5m for 3 bosses, etc
@KingCondor
Go look at the poll for "Should we add a new skill to OSRS"
Compare that with the Sailing poll.

been pretty bored in osrs lately, Sailing will keep me busy for a few weeks so im all for it.
Non of the new skills really inspired me but im excited to try sailing
What do you think about changing a room for a random one? with cox i mean, as a possibility for it. Maybe even getting some token for it
My biggest worry with sailing is we will vote and pass all these really fun, cool sounding stuff.
Im really worried the ppl who voted no will get the biggest say in their little reddit posts and alter the skill for the people that do want it
are you braindead, they literally said if this poll passes the skill will be locked in .@@eprimchad2576
Can't wait to see the king condor dmm content
Absolutely solid take on requiring a jagex account to vote. No 1 person should get more than 1 vote.
You forgot Reddit in your twitter and twitch speech.
let's ALL forget reddit
On point as always, thats why you are King💪🏼❤️
I wish the new skill was something better than boat riding but idk man we kinda need a new skill to shake things up. A lot of people will be able to hit new skill lvl total worlds
Plz make a COX guide king, I need it
That take on 1 vote per launcher account is the one
I want sailing, just not as a 'Skill'
Sailing as a skill seems too much like a static thing in an un-fleshed out area. (water just doesnt have the content to support a whole skill, including the proposed stuff, unless they want to content creep for the next 10 years and it will ONLY be sailing related content.)
You don't see "Cave diving" as a skill, yet out of the gate it would have more content than sailing with its fingers in all/most of the skills sailing is planning to have. Notice I DID NOT say dungeoneering. IMO Dungeoneering is the slippery slope to RS3, and Sailing just seems more and more like a static dungeoneering. (And I liked dungeoneering initially.)
That said, I know my place. A voiceless 2000+ total level main pleb. And at the end of the day, I'm just here for the dumpster fire to come. (I dont post on forums/reddit. Nor am I in a clan)
Side Note: they need to mix taming/shamism OR put it where it belongs with hunter(Taming) and Magic(Shamism "spellbook"AKA More spells for Ancients/Standard/Arc/Lunar)
Really love your content King. Love how you're not afraid to tell it how it is. Sailing is gonna be awesome.
Eoc and no free trade made the game grow? Not all changes are good changes especially with this company's track record
I agree with your stance on COX, and like how you broke down the logic behind everything. good job.
Great to have you back with the best takes! Cheers buddy!
Sailing was covered pretty extensively during the Summer Summit. I think it was towards the end iirc. So they just kind of polled all the new content they talked about. I thought it was pretty fitting.
Just wish it was on top of the poll. I think that would have been better for both yes and no voters. Its not the end of the world tho.
Maybe pick layout, but with reduced drop rates?
How about pick your scout for -10% points throughout the raid?

I agree sailing was put into this poll in the placement it was purely just to get it to pass, however, I want sailing; so I'm good with it.
jagex knows a new skill is essential for player retention long term, its the number 1 thing you do; train skills
What would you think about choosing one guaranteed boss to appear in CoX and blocking one puzzle type of room? Like doing hard Kourend diary for puzzle block and elite for boss guarantee and you can have really nice layouts.
Knowing how rotations in cox work picking one boss would guarantee skip of another type of boss, since they are paired:
Tekton - Shamans
Vespula - Mystics
Vasa - Muttadiles
Guardians - Vanguards
Picking Tekton would guarantee no shamans, picking Muttadiles would guarantee no Vasa etc making it actually a boss pick and block at the same time. Since you don't know if rotation will start with your boss you are only slightly limiting the number of possible rotations, but you can guarantee ovl raids or no-vespula raids for learners.
Blocking puzzle rooms is quite nice for speed, like no ice demon/thieving or some shit.
Issue with blocking any 2 rooms you could just block Vanguards and Guardians and you will be stuck with 4 rotations only:
VTV, muta-shaman-mystics, mystics-tekton-muta, vasa-shamans-vespula increasing the odds for good layout significantly
Today is a great day.

they should take out one of the three boards and replace it with rotateable discs that resemble the wiki layout, and you can roll between either side that way it can still be random while still letting you pick, and it could maybe push into a vasa or wherefer
as for the polls, 75-70 change was like a year ago and voted for if i remember right, ot highly requested and looks to me helps vs spite voters, it had a week and obviously ppl reading or that last question would have way higher
Great points. People are making extreme, tin foil hat conspiracies over this. Really they're just in grief for not getting the skill they want.
