      Will this fit on a 3rd gen?

    Just wanted to thank you for the video. Removing the inner tie rods was key. Made replacing my steering rack a breeze. Zero issues getting that bolt out under the a/c compressor. I had to do this job because my steering coupler seized up causing my steering to bind up.

    KFLO, Thank you for the amazing videos! What do you think this job took you in terms of time? I obviously have less knowledge than you but the same equipment in my garage and was wondering how much time I should plan on setting aside for this repair. Kflo time x 2 = my actual time.

      I was filming too so it does take me a whole day to set up and film this. I would budget roughly about 4-6 hours to get this job done - especially if you take your time and be very deliberate

    Thanks for this video! So you didn’t have a hard time getting that driver side steering rack bolt out? I read so many complaints about people having to either remove the ac compressor or lift the motor in order to get that bolt out but you made it look so easy! That’s really what’s stopping me from doing it on my own is all the complaints about that one bolt lol. I have a 2009 4x4 as well but mines has a drop bracket lift installed also..

    Tx for the video. What's the torque spec on the splash guard mounting bracket that your removed for better access?

    That clamp is also annoyingly installed with the tabs as hard to get to as possible.

    KFLO the driver side Steering Rack mounting bolt is a Major B to remove. Do you think it would be okay to mount it upside down with the nut on the top. I don't want to remove my AC compressor to get that long bolt in.

    • @KFloTacoma
      @KFloTacoma  3 роки тому

      It's your call bro. If youre going to mount it upside down, I would recommend putting loctite to prevent it from slowly backing out

    Hey kFlo love watching your videos! I'm trying to remove rack and pinion so I can change bushings. I can't seem to get the lower part of steering wheel shaft separated. Is their play in the steering wheel shaft that will allow the two to separate? I'm trying to do the same thing with long prybar, but hesitant that something else is wrong. Any thoughts. Thanks

    • @KFloTacoma
      @KFloTacoma  2 роки тому

      Yes there's some play that you can work with. Spray that area with a lot of pb blaster/wd 40. Stick a screw driver in between the slot once you remove the bolt completely from the intermediate shaft. The goal is to break the corrosion seal between the steering rack and intermediate shaft

      Hey thank you. One more question, was your driver side bolt installed from the top down. Someone on tacomaworld said you had to cut a little of the bolt. If so is there enough room to rock the rack forward without having to cut that bolt. I have new ones just in case. I just wanted to say how thoro your videos are. You do excellent job at going through all the steps. Thanks again!

    • @KFloTacoma
      @KFloTacoma  2 роки тому

      It's definitely doable to rock the steering rack back and forth to get that bolt out and pop the bolt off from the top. It will just take a little bit of patience and persistence

    What name brand steering rack did you use. I’ve checked out your Amazon store. It doesn’t have what steering rack you used. I saw only the inner and outer tie rods.

    what was the cause for you to change this?
    i have a 06 toyota tacoma. when i’m driving & start to gain speed it shakes really bad. i was told it was bc of inner & outer tie rods . i replaced that & it still shakes bad. i tried a new alignment & wheels still had the same issue . recently had new cam bolts put on and it’s worse now ... steering wheel sits to the left side . any thoughts ?

    • @KFloTacoma
      @KFloTacoma  3 роки тому

      Check the looseness of the following ball joints: Lower Control Arm and Upper control arm. Wheel bearing may also cause shaking too - check the looseness of that next. You'll need to do this while the truck is on jack stands. Use a pry bar to get in those joints to inspect for play

    • @TheDesertRat31
      @TheDesertRat31 3 роки тому +1

      @@KFloTacoma I'll have to disagree on the wheel bearings causing shaking. If they're bad, you'll hear a roaring that changes with speed. I suppose it possible, but the more likely culprits would be: upper and/or lower ball joints, tie rods, steering rack, and control arm bushings. Could be any of these alone or in some combination.

    • @TheDesertRat31

      New cam bolts? What did they say about the control arm bushings?

      Hey alex, did you ever fix the issue? My steering wheel goes left also and my truck shakes when I accelerate. Did fixing the steering pack fix the problem?

    Bro I am stuck on that drivers side bolt that secures the steering rack. I don't get how you were able to get that much clearance.

    • @KFloTacoma
      @KFloTacoma  Рік тому +1

      You'll have to really finagle the thing. At worst case just cut the bolt and install it from the bottom. That's what many people do
