I am in a season where God is telling me it is time to listen to Him or I will miss my purpose and stepping away from social media is one of the things I will need to do. I am open and willing to walk the walk. I am going to listen and I love that I came across this video.
Girl I'm right along with you I never really knew why I kept deactivating my socials but you explained it perfectly, I got overstimulated with all the influences and opinions to where I didn't even know myself anymore. So I'm right there with you I might not even go back to them for the rest of the year
I'm happy to hear that this video resonated! Self-discovery is so important and it's great that you have that awareness to take a step away from something hindering that.
I like the idea of making an email to keep in contact with people you meet. I have been on and off social media for the longest time. But I recently quit in Feb 2024 and I don't think I will ever go back. I HATE social media SO MUCH, instagram in particular. Believe it or not, I haven't missed out on anything. In fact, I made more realistic friends, one of whom doesn't even use Instagram. I also joined discord servers based on my hobbies like reading, and I have a nice community around me that doesn't judge me based on my photo grid lol. I hate social media because the information is just too much for my poor brain. And I get very jealous looking at other people's lives. I feel like I have discovered myself more after quitting. I seem to be reaching a new level of self esteem that I would have never achieved if i was still trying to seek validation on instagram. Quitting social media also opened up huge chunks of time for me to do other productive things like working out, knitting, listening to audiobooks. I really recommend quitting. You won't miss out on anything!
I like that you use Discord servers to find communities that are based on your hobbies. I never thought to do that, especially since one of the main reasons people don't want to ditch social media is because of the sense of connection it gives them. I don't like how social media primed us to have short attention spans either. I hate the feeling of spending hours watching short-form content and not even being able to recall a single video I watched. And yes! FOMO is such a big fear. That's why I haven't permanently deleted my Instagram even though I've done so with FB, Snapchat, and Twitter. It's sort of my last lifeline to acquaintances & the digital world in general. Anyhow, thank you for your thoughtful response and for taking the time to watch the video!
Yes yes! I just came across your video and kudos to you for stepping away for your own growth👏🏾I deleted mine for a year, restarted in February and just deleted them all again for good, because I realized I truly don't need it in my life. Too much noise and foolishness and I love peace and quiet. I even posted a video explaining why I wish it never even existed cuz 😮💨the things people are doing on social media is mind boggling.
Thank you! It definitely is more peaceful without social media especially because it you’re not constantly plugged into to everyone else’s lives. I thought that it was crucial for me now more than ever to remove myself from social media since I’m in that phase of life where I’m still growing into who I am. And I knew that personally couldn’t happen if I was focused on everybody else but myself. Anyhow, thank you again for watching & I’ll be sure to check out your channel!!
Literally same! For me, I think it’s a combination of how thoughtful it was compared to text (similar to sending letters) & the lack of immediacy attached to emailing compared to texting / dm’ing.
I feel like it was such an upgrade from IM and the thrill you would get from a “new message”. Now its like, how can I keep my email from not filling up lol
Social media can definitely be a good tool for you to launch your modeling career. Everyone’s relationship with social media is different! I personally can’t bring myself to have balance with social media so completely getting off of it works for me. Find what works for you 🦋✨
@@AaliyahInspired this is exactly me , I started with simply logging off and deleting tiktok and Twitter off my phone I still have ig on my iPad but I’m removing it little by little . Ik I can’t balance slicks media so I just want to get rid of it as a whole .
This! There is so much influence on social media. A lot of us don’t know our true identities
Exactly 🙌🏾 at this point, self-discovery is way more important to me than staying relevant on social media. Thank you for watching 🦋✨

I’m glad to hear this video found & resonated with you! Wishing you the best in this season off of social media 🦋✨

Aaliyah, I've never been on social media, but I'm ready to start modeling and I feel like getting on social media (IG) is the first step.
