I love this controller. I just purchased it and couldn’t be happier. I think I’m going to upgrade to the RANE 12 next. I’m sold. These guys are dedicated to quality and it shows.
I guess I’m supposed to have a certain pride having lugged around 1200’s and crates of records but man I wish they had this back in the days when I was actively DJing. Would have cut my set up times by 1/2 and saved my back lol.
Just bought a Denon SC6000m to save money on getting another I might consider this! I know it’s a “scratch” mixer but I can see loads of appeal for DJ’s from a vinyl background. Great review thanks 👍
This seems like device I would have dreamt up 10 years ago. I never thought I'd buy another 2 channel controller but I'm having second thoughts now. Great review BTW!
Perfect and finally, the gods have been listening. I've been a fan of the spinning platter for years starting with the Denon 3500 all the way to their SC 3900 where they absolutely nailed the 1200 turntable feel. They opted for the 9 inch vinyl which I absolutely loved. 2 channels is all I use so this is a perfect controller for someone like me. Full transparency, I purchased the SRT 1000 and sent it back as it wasn't a device for me. I'm a vinyl guy so my 1200s (Technics) is my primary setup and this Rane One will probably replace it. I suspected it would weigh more than your standard controller because of the platter and motor combinations and the fact that its made by the parent company of Rane, quality is at the forefront of most if not all their designs and the Rane One is no exception. Thank you MoJaxx, very detailed review, as always.
The layout is on point , I've been designing Dj gear skins for a while now and as an ex-Dj myself I can relate to how important the placing of each knob is.
Best 2 channel controller this year so far and maybe one of the best ever created from what I see, but $1500 and no dual effects independently for each channel , no mic echo, no sampler volume? Come on Rane!!!!
For reference in a mobile DJ world: Rane One - 23lbs DDJ-SZ - 22.93lbs Denon Prime 4 - 21.34 XDJRX2 - 20.6 DDJ1000SRT - 13.23lbs I got rid of my DDJ-SZ because once you added a flight case to it, which you’d be crazy not to, it was way too heavy for mobile outings. I will pass personally as badass as a controller this is and stick with the DDJ1000. Weight management on your back after a 12hr day is def a concern. Still. What a badass controller. They should make the control decks standalone like the 12. Id buy 2 rane 7s in a heartbeat to go with a s9 on a mobile rig. Just my thoughts. Great review as always Mojaxx.
This looks awesome. I had an NS7 (1st gen) for years and loved it. I didn't upgrade to the NS7 II or III because those units just became too busy for me. I didn't want four channels. I've been waiting for another 2 channel spinning platter design and this looks great. A few things I didn't like hearing: No built in FX? Come on now Rane! And I personally liked the mirrored tempo sliders on the NS7, and the left deck pitch slider here looks dangerously close to the left volume slider. And, lastly, no mic echo? Adding just a little mic echo makes you sound so much more professional at a gig. That would be my wish list.
Good review Mojaxx... As a House DJ who started on and used vinyl for years (Technics 1200s) now using controllers, this looks like a dream for people who want that old school feel. Although I currently use Rekordbox, I'm definitely gonna look into this.
I'm with you. I am a House DJ too with my original 12's. This looks the part! As you know sometimes you just want to have fun and juggle some A cappella's. This is like having a Numark Scratch with 1200's bolted to it!
@@alanmodimages Exactly! Juggle some acapellas, some old school breakbeats, etc, etc. I'm just not familiar with Serato being an exclusive Rekordbox user. I'm sure I can catch on thou. I'm curious if you can recorded sets on Serato...

Thanks for this! I've been contemplating getting the RANE ONE since my Numark NS7III just stopped powering on about 2 weeks. I am a fan of the spinning platters and I have a pair of RANE TWELVE MKIIs and a RANE 72 MKII at home, but only use it for my radio station job and non-smoking gigs. I need something mobile like the ONE for the different bars I spin at, which unfortunately are smoker-friendly environments. Thanks again. I will be purchasing a ONE today!
Excellent review! This is best of both worlds. It's impressive but dedicated Serato Flip buttons appear to be missing. Also, I would have liked to see on-board effects and a strobe light.
It's now listed as "coming soon" on The VIrtual DJ homepage, which means native support is on the way So if you need more options for this controller, and better support for things like direct streaming and STEMS separation, that should be coming shortly :)
Did vdj just remove the Rane One support??? I saw the hardware manual yesterday but now it's gone! My One is coming in on Friday! I don't wanna open my Serato for any reason! Lol
UPDATE: I watched a review that confirms there's no 45 button but there's a mode to change the pitch to +-50% and the platter changes speed well beyond 45 rpms. Maybe a firmware update can enable it at a later time.
If you hook up a CDJ can you use it as a 3rd Deck/3rd Layer???? Not having 4 Channels or even a simple built in 3rd and 4th Deck Layer mode is the thing making me wait to see what else comes out the next couple of months?
Hi. I know I'm commenting about a different controller under this video, but I feel as if it needs to be said. I notice the lack of a review on the Serato DJ Pro controller from Mixars, the Mixars Primo. I know it's over 2 years old by now, however, it seems like there aren't many full in-depth reviews on what I feel is a pretty great unit for the money. This brings up the bigger factor (that at least I can gather) that it seems as if a lot of the biggest DJ tech UA-cam channels have let this unit slip by, going unreviewed (in an in-depth sense). I'm curious why this has come to be, and why this controller seems to go largely unnoticed. I am hoping we can give even more spotlight to this controller, just down to the fact of what a great value for the money this controller seems to be. It would be amazing if more channels like DjcityTV (and others) could shed even more light on this controller.
I was thinking of getting this controller mixers not only for portability but also for the price and it works with serato dj pro, which is the software that I prefer to use. It is so true that why aren’t ppl making reviews of the mixars. I saw a review once but on the controller it was more on tricks and tips type of thing but the dj was using the primo controller so I got curious and asked what controller was. I did some research and it was perfect for a micro setup, but I haven’t seen any actual reviews on the primo I thought that was weird. Glad you mentioned it. Hope that someone makes a review on the primo controller
The Silent Que button is really not needed in the Rane One because it’s a controller not DVS. If you press the cue bottoms they play without the platter spinning. Just my thought.
Only thing I don’t get is... is Rane’s name really enough to sell us a version of the NS7mk3 for more money and less features? I see a few minor improvements, like the faders and maybe minor sound quality increase... otherwise, it’s missing a lot the NS7 had. Is there any good reason to upgrade to this if you already own an NS7?
So the big question is would you replace a perfectly working like new ns7 3? I have been waiting for this for along time but my ns7 3 is mint so I'm torn
Thank you for your review and willingness to be critical on certain areas. Notably, is there no way to control sample volume? Is there an option for the music to go quiet when a microphone is engaged?

For all fellow DJs coming from a turntable background and historically for me it was Technics 1200, Numark CDX, Denon 3700, NS7 II and now Rane Twelves. Great Review Mojaxx! I think Rane will make another one of these with a huge screen and with standalone Engine Software like the prime series... Maybe even 4-channels as well.

for 1500 you can buy 2 super oems and a numark scratch and play both dvs and vinyl. At 1200 this would have made sense. at 1500. Man what a huge mistake that pricing was.
I agree $1000 would have been a good price this is almost a numark Ns7 II it shouldn’t be that much but hey that’s Rane for ya lol!
guess this product isn't for you lol
@@cerebrix This has more features than a Numark Scratch though, It's more like a Rane 70 with 2 7" tables all for $1500. The Rane 70 alone costs $1500
@@salvadorvillanueva148 Yes, but with a Numark Scratch, you can also play analog vinyl without a PC and still have the EQ's and Filter. You just lose the Serato FX
This what I been looking for this is really dope from Rane. I can't wait to get it asap when it comes out soon. Funk Up Salute great review!
When is it coming out?
i kind of predicted that the Rane 12 would do well and the follow up cemented their position .It got a lot of hate when it came out but i am pleased to have proven them wrong or rather Rane did with a winning product .Is it me or can you see the three sections on this unit being sold as isolated units that you could mix and match or am i just getting carried away. This look really great
Agreed. Like an updated v7, and a modern-day, bare-bones mixer. I like it.
why no FX send/return channel?
the platters! YES!
Very cool. Would not purchase till i see a case for this. $1200-$1300 would of been a more reasonable price imo. Curious if these motors will be faulty like the Rane 12...I’ll wait
ummmmmmmm I thought this was suppose to be public on the 26th... Guess I'll throw my video up lol
Love this!
Great job. Not for everyone but it should do well.👍🏽
Is 7 in big or good enough to learn scratch for a beginner? or does it have to be 12 in?
12” feels way better more control the 7” is way to small in my opinion but it can be done!
I guess now we know why Denon never released a Prime 4 M
Someone needs to work out how to get the Rane One and Prime 4 to have Babies :)
ARE THERE ANY 12 INCH JOGGER CONTROLLERS LIKE THIS>
Does anybody know if it’s a class compliant device ?
👍👍👍 about time someone did this right
does it work with traktor???
SOON COMING RANE TWO PRO CONTROLLER WITH 4 CHANNEL MIXER
Now we talking but what will it cost
I’ll just wait for the rane two lol
