I apparently missed this one, very well done & informative! I bought this for my original Xbox collection but never tried it, I definitely appreciate your take on it & the remaster!
Never heard of the comic nor game. Looks somewhat fun, thanks for the recommendation. Gotta say, I'd go for Redux if I had to choose between them, even if it costs more. Needless to say I'd also go with your recommendation of getting it on sale. Thanks for the review!
I just love the atmosphere and lore of this game. Would love to see a proper triple A expirience in this universe, even though it almost certainly will never happen
Seeing the blue soldiers from Avatar 2 reminded me of Rogue Trooper. I can see that being an influence on Cameron in the 80s. He was a new director at the time and a concept and FX artist, so it's not a stretch to think he was aware of the 2000 AD comics.
I've played this game for the first time with its switch re-release, but couldn't stand the lack of gyro aiming in it (using only sticks for me is like being used to kbm and then being force to use keyboard buttons to aim and only using the normal functions of lmb/rmb for the mouse). I've been planning on getting it on pc for my steam deck so I can more-or-less force gyro in by mapping it to a mouse.
Redux version just sucks. Rogue's busted dead-face and mimic in the cutscenes, broken hitboxes, abundance of blur and glossy textures. No fixes for the AI or the stealth system. Just nope. Original is still good. Great soundtrack, fun campaign, true to the original comics to the bone. Not the best game ever, but a nice good fun with unique style. Thanks for the detailed review! This was a really good game
games like this makes me wonder how Rebellion still manages to exist.
When this first came out the cover shooter gameplay was like a proto gears of war. As good as gears? No. But a fun game to rent for a week.
