Since 2011 in Wisconsin I was very concerned that the Republican gerrymandering was irreparable. We will see in Nov. if it was fixed. We still have partisan gerrymandering in WI in the 8 House districts which the Supreme Court is claiming is legal. So there is a long way to go.

I knew nothing about this ALEC and how this affects state legislatures, but I have felt the effects of it for years...I just didn't know how to frame or identify it. I think all levels of government should be structured as problem-solving entities; no party divisions, just people who want to work to solve problems.
I ran for state senator in a winnable district twice in 1990s....mortgaged my home and not one penny or return phone calls from democratic party who just GAVE UP 15th district Wa state to Republicans. Still do.

Candidates knocking on doors is key. Every person that has won was able to win because the voters put a face to the name and remembers them and what they said they stood for and wanted to do.
In Nov 2020 the Oklahoma Republican State legislators passed a law making it legal for them to select new electors if they don't like who the majority of Oklahoma voters choose for our next president.
Why can’t local governments pose the question to people who want to work elections, and who will be required to certify elections, “Are you an election denier?” And if they are, disqualify them from working elections?

Governor Sanders’ AG is blocking this even though we have enough signatures and we have followed all the rules for getting something on the ballot. The city council member for our District in Costa Mesa, CA knocked on doors and we met him and saw him talk to the children and introduce them to the possibility of being the Treasurer of the City since they liked numbers. He won the election. During the COVID he did a ZOOM mtng on 'What would we like to see in our district in terms of street lights, bike lanes, and small business/lofts. We, on the ZOOM, exchanged phone numbers and agreed to stay in touch (which we didn't), but within 3 years, street lights have gone up on our corner which before that had become so busy that no one could cross the street at the corner; a loft/business complex was built on the corner to replace the empty lot filled with junk, AND bike lanes have gone in everywhere in the district!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's been awesome and the person who is on the city council has since won 2 more times. And I recognize him on the city WEB page since he walked and knocked!
What's VP Harris doing to bring these "downstream" races into focus? Rather than focus on djt, allowing that much of a definition of the stakes, focus on the local. Not so much as reaching for support, rather, extending support. Focus on local issues. Run along side those running for aldermen, state senators, assembly, mayors, whatever.

The two of you didn't mention the single thing that terrifies me most about state legislatures: if a single party controls the upper house of 38 state legislatures, they can pass constitutional amendments by convention, bypassing the Congress entirely. Not all that long ago, the Republicans were within three or four states of that number. Partly through the efforts of the States Project, we've pulled back a few steps from that brink, but if it ever happens, it will be a disaster. Imagine Project 25's Christian Nationalist principles replacing the Bill of Rights.

Here in Oklahoma, our Republican super majority declined the ACA funds and the summer food supplement funds for children. Our Native American tribal governments stepped in to assist the non native population with the summer food program, as well as our own tribal citizens. Our state superintendent also declined to apply for the federal education grants. Our state is so fkd up. They have consistently tried to bully our tribal governments in numerous ways and hate that we have sovereign rights.

Mark Elias I would like to help you and you help me please and thank you. See I am a college student at Liberty University majoring in theology since 2021. Where I am the only student who observed and opposed their teachings to all students not the word of God or Jesus but current human Theologians word of man. I have seen students start with positivity & their writings are completely changed & seem upset & deffeated at the end of the semester. I have had a professor tell me "Maybe I should rethink majoring in theology in feed back after I wrote a paper stating I agree to disagree with the courses book written by a Theologian in 2018. Even worse during the summer I found out Liberty University is funding, writing and some of the founders of the Heritage foundation also project 2025 and it all made sense to me! I start classes tomorrow and want to help stop them especially with what I have experienced!

The most important aspect is that there are very good people on the ground to ensure that our election integrity is intact and that Donald Trump has no chance of usurping or stealing our election. And the fact that Kamala and Walz is going to beat Trump in a landslide will negate all these MAGA from saying the election is rigged. Thank you, Mark and Daniel.
