Hoocho, another great update. Two things seem to stop these pumps. The impeller jumps off the shaft (they are a friction fit). This can only be fixed by pulling the pump apart to get to the impellor. The second (which was likely your failure) is that some grit from the perlite jams the impeller shaft. The prevention for this is to pull a pool filter sock over the pump & cable tie the opening to the power cord. These last for years & can be purchased in the pool section of your favourite hardware store :)
With those pumps (they're all the same from china) I find the impeller can stick every now and then, if you get it to where you can see the impeller and either tap the whole pump or flick the actual impeller it'll get going again, it not actually becoming unreliable they just need a good clean every now and then. I find 1 cup of citric acid per 3 liters of water is a great way to clean the pumps. Leave it running in there for a couple hours and then a good rise and you're set! May also be a good idea to look into some sort of cheap flow monitors that can report a failed pump?...
Thanks for the info.! My problem will be using dam water - having to clean tap filters is frustrating enough! Perhaps have a couple of extra pumps so I can have a quick change over. Pat.
I'll watch it all thanks. 😉 I can try & look after them bunnies & hares for you if you like.😁 Hydro greens, spuds & roast wabbit. Impressive spud harvest Hoocho 👍 Have you tried an electric toothbrush our "pleasure devices" to aid in tomato pollination? I've seen commercial cucumber growers use them in greenhouses in SA. I'm trying some PureCrop1 on the mites & aphids here to see how it goes. Very interested in the new system you have planed mate. Cheers & hope the back feels better soon. 🍻
I should definitely try a little rabbit hahah I’ve actually bought a sonic brush for that reason. Been meaning to use it. Currently building the system, it’s been slow going, am super aware of my back. Usually I can pump out a build in a day. But this one has taken a few. Excited to reveal it. XD
I am a newb hydroponicer. At this stage I only have of one of MrStacky's solar grow tower thingos. It was great to find Australian content on the subject. My next project will be to make a couple of RGGS's. Anyway, thanks for the videos and keep up the good work. All the best, Brian.
my aunt grew the best maters . you got to switch them every day right before sundown . take a small stick about 2 foot long. just go a long tap the tops with stick .dont damage the plant.why you do this is to get the pollen to drop down on the flowers below .
Fantastic channel @hoocho ... One thing that will change you life forever is buy a hot glue gun .... it is the missing link in your tool arsenal, bit of hot glue on the connector will water proof and will keep it secure, hole in your netting, hot glue and a patch, sets fast, sticks to nearly everything, you are knocking it out the park awesome job buddy. i'm going to have to try growing wasabi one day.
In these pumps, the impeller are often not driven directly but indirect by magnets from outside for better waterproof design. Often a little thing could clog these pumps very easy. Just cleaning it in intervals should be enought.
1. The pump, the stem that holds the impeller broke. You can easily fab another stem savbe you $75. 2. 14 gauge welded wire fence run as a trellis would work great with tomatos. 3. Lady bugs will slam the adult aphids, check your roots for root aphids.
Great choice of music, the song is Polygonawanaland by King Gizzard and the Wizard Lizard for anyone wondering what the time lapse music on the Wasabi was.
Have you ever considered neem oil for your aphid problem? Or even better, ladybugs and lacewings. I know you can order them here in the states. Also you could bring in stingless bees for pollination. Australia has it's own species of native stingless bees.
11:23 just for comparison erbody, jebao/jecod dc pumps are awesome, 1200L\hr for 12W. I have had one going for 5 or so years turning off nearly every night. Never jammed, swirly impellor looks unjammable.
was there any rhizomatic growth on the wasabi? it was hard to see, but it didn't look like much. your mention of the queensland heat makes me think there probably wasn't much rhizome development right?
Dude your experimental approach is amazing I can't see why you don't have way more subs, in the UK we have to battle rain and general damp rather than sun, can't wait to see your next big reveal. 👍👍
he started from scratch. he will get there for sure. i want to see collabs. do some with migrow and epic veggies or maybe somthing like mr beast ??? jk i love hoochos tho
Having a taste test of the tomatos? If you do, could you compare with insect pollinated plants? A few stories around, but I trust you to tell the tale! Mind you, the potatoes have me convinced to try hydroponics! Stay safe, pat.
Ahhh 😍😍😍😍 was waiting from long for your vedio love your work man always fan. Also watched all your vedio from beginning of the days wat can I say wat a transition ❤️❤️❤️keep grinding
Super interested to see how you tackle the aphid problem. They're the bane of my existence and I cannot seem to stop them from destroying my chili trees. Pyrethrum seems to damage the actual plants themselves.
What nutrient are you using for the wasabi? My brother just got me some sprouts and I’ve had a hard time finding any info on it. I’ve got the whole system set up other than the nutrient.
You should have measured the EC and pH not directly at the float valve where fresh nutrient is fed into the system. How about at exactly the other end or multiple locations?
We got hit a few years back half our patio was was old sun damage sheets and got destroyed so I replaced it… it’s been fine in all these storms so you should be right unless it’s BIG stuff
How are you going to protect all the curcubits from hares as the vines spread out? Also - what is the lowest night temperatures you have there in winter? Do you get many frosts?
Hi hoocho. Your ph and ec combo meter , what make is that and where can I find one . Been looking to up grade my cheap ph ec pen type for a while , I’m getting more into this hydroponics . Keep the videos coming there an amazing watch -👍👌
This is the holy grail of hydroponics

Rob does wabbit go as an entree to your hydro fish or vice versace

Why was there no update anymore for the Wasabi!? I guess it failed?

Air flow and temp changes are your root pm issue.

Hydroponic heaven 💙💛

The way those Wasabi's are landing on the kick drum in the time lapse. Very satisfying.
love the bunnings sieve you washed your potatos in lol

Will you make another try with the DWC system soon?

Wow what a potato harvest?not bad at all. You must have had a tadpole in the pump with all those frogs 😂. Thanks for sharing.

WOW!!!!!!! Great video, AMAZINGLY GGRRreeeeaat plant setup and production!!!!!!!!! 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Great results M8, can’t wait for the next Hoocho Adventure 🍻
Love the 🐓
Amazing system. I'm jealous 😫✌👌👌
This channel is one of the best in the topic of hydroponics. It deserved much more subscribers... I don't get it. :O
was there another update for the wasabi? Was it a success?
ua-cam.com/video/LyATA1DcIfU/v-deo.html
Killed by fungus and aphids.
Do you have a video on your hydroponic orchard? Also I’m waiting on my wasabi to get here to try and grow my own.
I'm impressed. I had no idea trees could be grown hydroponically. Do you think you could do blueberries?
Super interested to see how you tackle the aphid problem. They're the bane of my existence and I cannot seem to stop them from destroying my chili trees. Pyrethrum seems to damage the actual plants themselves.
Can’t wait to see the actual wasabi and not just the leaves!
Big update, loving all the plants and veggies 😍🌞 keep up the good work mate 💪
Cheers Boys!
Please take care & rest well 🤗
Subscribed! Awesome walkthrough of the systems and your progress. Cheers and more success to you mate!
It's so inspiring to see these update videoes. Keep it up!
What nutrient are you using for the wasabi? My brother just got me some sprouts and I’ve had a hard time finding any info on it. I’ve got the whole system set up other than the nutrient.
That wasabi update was disappointing. Normally I'd be mad it's buried at the end, but the rest of the video more than makes up for it.
Does the wasabi grow only with rainwater? Do you have to add fertilizer?
Hi Hoocho! Impeccable work with hydroponics wow! Im curious as to you the fertilizer you used for the wasabi..
Are you using RO water for your water? If not, what is the EC of your water that you're using before nutrients?
You should have measured the EC and pH not directly at the float valve where fresh nutrient is fed into the system. How about at exactly the other end or multiple locations?
The rain brought the systems above the float level though so it shouldn't have fed any new nutrients
What ever happened with the wasabi?
The wash basket 😂👌 …all looks awesome. We have had so much little hail my poor plants got smashed 😓
Ah man, we got those storms, just missed the hail, had a few bits but thankfully not much.
Not sure how the cheap polycarbonate would stand up to it.
We got hit a few years back half our patio was was old sun damage sheets and got destroyed so I replaced it… it’s been fine in all these storms so you should be right unless it’s BIG stuff
I’m really liking this style of video👍.
Was there any more updated on the wasabi?

How are you going to protect all the curcubits from hares as the vines spread out? Also - what is the lowest night temperatures you have there in winter? Do you get many frosts?
@Hoocho what is that wall-netting that you use in your greenhouse where you grow the round pipe rain gutter system?
50% white shade cloth
How do you tie up the tomatoes
Hi hoocho. Your ph and ec combo meter , what make is that and where can I find one . Been looking to up grade my cheap ph ec pen type for a while , I’m getting more into this hydroponics . Keep the videos coming there an amazing watch -👍👌
Hanna, if you pause on the scene the make is written on the face.
Love your videos
Buitu Binafi from Belize
Looking forward to the ginger hydro set-up!
Hooch: how do your greenhouse plants get pollenated if you don’t have beneficial pollinators in there?
How is the wasabi going?
ua-cam.com/video/LyATA1DcIfU/v-deo.html
Killed by fungus and aphids.
Thank you for the quality content!
Nice
Which nutrient formula do you use for your crops? Is it the same solution four all?
Campbell’s Diamond spec T 1.3ec for wasabi and NFT, 2.4 ec all other systems.
@@Hoocho thanks!
Waaaasaaaabiiiii
If an NFT system was ran on a solar pump, would the plants die overnight with no water circulating?
You have a fast One for 3+3+5"?
THE ANTS DID WHAT
I’d say the rotten potatoes you found will be the mother potato you planted they tend to rot once the die off. My 2 cents
Super sir ji
Sir I am in india
I want turmeric hydroponic nuturent making tips please help me sir
