i ordered one too last night based on guitar videos and the double brigade feature...this is the first time hearing on synth and my hunch was right it's amazing wow 🙀🙀🙀 can't wait to try it on my Roland JX-10 and Juno-6 🤗...edit subbed 😎👍🏻...and now i need the cloudburst too 🙈😂
Appreciate this video demo of the unit and your continuous passion for delay. Brigadier is a great pedal in itself. Your video demonstrates how Strymon really made some thoughtful upgrades with the Brig. Cool nods back to the essence of the original and their other delay units too.
Just ordered the Brig. I’ll be throwing my Moog Sound studio through it and I’m most excited to put my Prologue through it and then into my Blackhole…it’ll be here tomorrow. Nice demo of the pedal and the range of sounds put through the pedal!!
That sounds soooo good, especially with that Ghibli patch. The Brig's analog golden ratio pingpong mode is what I've been trying to emulate on the dd-500 lately, with only some success... Nice video!
Depends on if you want an analog style grit and so forth. The Echolution is a very clean delay. If you want a digital clean delay with mod the Echolution is great. Check out my video on it. I would not really say they are comparable other than they are delays.
Forgive me if this a dumb question, but I have Prophet Rev2, which is a Stereo capable synth. I also (and thanks to your videos) have the Strymon Brig and the Strymon Cloudburst. Can I run my Synth Stereo out to the Brig, stereo out to the Cloudburst, and then stereo out to my mixer? Or does something have to be in mono for all of that signal chain to work at all? I can go directly from my Synth stereo out to my Brig and stereo out to my mixer and I can hear stereo through my monitors - sounds great. But when I introduce the Cloudburst into the chain (after the Brig), it seems I can't have that in stereo as well? I'm a little confused. I'm just trying to hear both my Cloudburst and Brig in stereo, but it seems I can't have both? I'm looking at your signal chain and it looks like you're going mono out of your synth into the Brig? And from the Brig are you just going single TS cable out to the Cloudburst? And then stereo out from the Cloudburst to your interface/mixer?
You can go stereo completely through, I’m using a trs cable from the output of the brig to the input of the cloudburst. This will carry the stereo signal using a single sable without a splitter. Just make sure the switch on the back is set to stereo in and out.
I've used a digital synth into a digital phaser into a digital delay into a digital reverb... then analog out to my digital recorder/mixer... and it occurred to me... My live sound and recording probably wouldn't be quite so lofi if I could stay digital all the way up to the monitor output... but still have the separate knobs and controls that each pedal has, and be able to mix and match different manufacturer (so, not just a Helix or whatever)... I just wish digi pedals also had digital I/O. If you look at how much a Microfreak costs, it's hard to accept "it would cost too much for digi I/O on a 5-knob pedal". But I know there would never be consensus about protocol, because each company would want you to stay within their own ecosystem. Probably, someday, generic controllers with AR overlays will be the thing, once that becomes feasible. My Echolution's been crapping out, and this Brig has golden ratio too, it seems... I'll keep it in mind. For sound, to me, I think (based on this demo) I like Capistan's sound slightly better, and Volante's slightly not as much, as far the the vintage emulations (not how accurate they are, but my personal preference just in timbre and what it does to the source sounds). I don't really know Dig.
Oh they cut the delay time? I like doing sound on sound with delays. I've just been using the Reface CP with its onboard delay, but that's only 1.5s max. It's fun, but more would be good. I use Ventris for that, but the max is 2s... was hoping to have more, even if it gets crunchy with more. Well, there are plenty of delays in the sea.
Your other alternative (ignoring PCs) is to use a couple of Yamaha MG06 mixers to run your effects chain in parallel to the synth (one mixer before the chain and one after) and be able to adjust mix levels of each that way at the end before your recording device.
Hey! How come Strymon didn't send me one too? This is an outrage! Why do I have to pay for my own pedals?! I want my own free Strymon pedal! On the more serious note, do these two Strymon pedals sum to mono for the effect, or do they process the effect for each stereo channel separately? Because if so, they most certainly belong to the "instabuy" category.
Something interesting and kind of overlooked is that when midi synced, time knob applies a pitch interval in 5ths and octaves like CBA's Thermae. That sounds so cool. I heard that on the demo from Strymon. However, I'll keep my Capistan. :) Great demos Yuki!
I really need to get a conduit for these pedals along with my chase bliss and red panda to get them up on MIDI safely. The octave jump thing is neat on pedals. I found out the eventide rose can do it Jin 5ths and octaves from the build in mod section.
they should've made a Brigadier v2 in the format of the other v2 pedals...
I was hoping for a V2 BBD pedal that did delay, chorus, and flanger all in one. On the other hand Boss now has an actual BBD delay pedal…
Nice video. Great to see synths using pedals. Strymon please send more to this gentleman!

Happy strymon got this to you. You made it shine! Keep it up and you’ll be at 20k in no time!!
Thanks ! I hope I will hit 20k one day.
Holy Fuck this sounds amazing!

Very happy that Strymon sent the pedal to you. It's a well deserved recognition.
This being said, great demo.
Thanks !
Me not very happy because it is linked to another $400 strymon pedal, where is the demo for the actual pedal bitch ?
i have been begging for for a pedal like this for years. thank you for making such a wonderful video showcasing this
Thanks !
Nice, there's a shortage on synth/pedal videos. How did they contact you on YT btw? Or did you contact them?
Through my email. I had contacted support a few months back before this video on an issue with a time line.
That combo is beautiful for synths. Nice demo.
Thanks so much !
Thanks for such a thorough review.
Wow that is LUSH! Great playing to showcase both the Modal and the Brig. 😍
Thanks !
Great demo man!
Thanks for watching ! I really like your videos btw !
how would you feel about this vs the Echolution 3?
Depends on if you want an analog style grit and so forth. The Echolution is a very clean delay. If you want a digital clean delay with mod the Echolution is great. Check out my video on it. I would not really say they are comparable other than they are delays.
Great demo on the new pedal. Super excited for you.
Thanks !

The wet / effects section input is summed to mono.
@@YukiTheSynthDragon I suspected as much, thank you very much for confirming. Oh, well, what a shame. It sounds great, though. Cheers!
Awesome!!!
Absolutely beautiful! The first 3 mins are so lush and the multi mode sounds so good.
Thanks !
Amazing demo! Would you choose this one over the el capistan?
Thanks. If you only had one option I would go el cap. The sound on sound looper is awesome and I like tape echo more than any other delay.
@@YukiTheSynthDragon I could not agree more! It us however a great pedal on its own (the brig I mean)...thanks for your reply!
