- Опубліковано 5 жов 2024
- Here's an epic wind test of the DJI Mavic 3 Class in nearly 70KPH winds, testing not just the aircraft handling, but also the stability and success of the video feed.
I take you through the areas like take-off of the Mavic 3 Classic, flying around, the different modes, camera movements, the official wind speed specs, wind considerations when flying in high-wind situations (tips and tricks), as well as plenty more.

Extremely impressive footage, I personally would NEVER EVER fly in winds that high, but DJI is doing a phenomenal job. I am still astounded. Great video again!
Cancelled flying today in a much lower wind. The wind was okey but the gusts were really strong. and I still have my machine in flying order...
It's absolutely incredible what that drone was dealing with so well.
Look how stable the shots are! I don't think other drones can survive this much level of wind or better yet keep a stable shot like the Mavic 3! That's quite a feat for this drone!
That's some seriously impressive bit of kit! My Mavic 3 Classic is due to turn up today, and its gusting 36 MPH winds. Before watching this, I thought there was no way I was going to be able to do a test flight, but after seeing this, the M3 is more than capable! I did not think that the batter would last that long in those winds! Kudos to the engineers at DJI for producing such an excellent bit of kit!
The banding happens as the drone pitches down to fly into strong wind while at the same time the sun shines on the sensor, so the blades almost vertical create a shutter effect. Always love your extreme test as I film whales off shore
Thanks for the awesome wind test! Just goes to show how capable the Mavic 3 classic is!
Stunning!, cannot believe how advanced this tech has become
You are insane, but I love these tests 😂
Hahaha, thanks Nick - glad you enjoy them!
And I'm freaking out flying my M3 in 35km gusts.
NOT anymore !
Great work, subbd.
I’m curious if it’s 20 km/h at say height of 40 feet to 50 feet, what is the formula for when difference at street level?
Subscribed after this footage! That high-angel shot was amazing 😮
Thanks!
Wow - always love your wind tests for drones!! Surprised at another survival :)
Hahaha - I aim to maintain my 100% survival record!
@@Dcrainmaker didn't you lose an air2s once?
or was it a mini?
@@rodneydickleman297 I've never lost a drone in a wind test. Now, an Active Track testing...that's claimed a DJI Mavic 3 to a canal (recoverable), then a DJI Air 2 into a sign (recoverable), Air 2S into a tree then fell into a canal (not recoverable), and also a Skydio 2 (non-Plus) into a canal once too (which I managed to recover). Also, another Mavic 3 into a tree that was recoverable but badly damaged.
the best test ...to mavic 3 is a best drone in 2023...BRAVOO MAN
Balls of steel. I'm nervous just watching this. That feeling while flying must be gut wrenching.
you really put 'em through the ringer. Thank you for this test.
Definitely the most convincing video of this product
It takes a big set to try such a thing over land...the water factor took this video over the top!
Impressive performance. Half that wind is specified for my DJI Mini 3 PRO..... Being a newbie the limit is set at half the maximum wind. Steady wind is one thing but the gusts.... Not so easy to know before it's too late.
That was very impressive. Thanks for doing this test!!
Love from india... bro..! 1 of the Finest dedicating your profession..
looks like a great machine, I'm thinking of it as a companion of my Air 2S!
Mighty brave shoot. But you proved your point. Kudos
Jerry Rig... and you! 😃😀Great test, nice work!
Mavic 3 Classic is the king!
simply just WOOOW!
Thank you
Un bonjour de la France, chapeau ....
Merci!
Great clip. This gives me a lot of confidence as I'm a noob.
That weird banding was prop shadow on the camera!
Dude you fighting the wind and flying this thing while narrating the whole time was hilarious. Good on ya lol
This is my next model, no doubt
Mavic is a beast.
You're a brave man!! Just ordered mine yesterday. :-)
Amazing as always!
Amazing wind does not flip it😮
10/10
Amazing job
Impressive test. I’m nervous to fly in 43kph gusts 💨 😅
What’s the lowest operating temp for this unit? This may be the drone I’ve been waiting for if it can handle the wind and low temps… Pretty impressive! Thanks for testing and sharing!
Is it more balanced than the original Mavic 3 ? Since the camera is supposed to be lighter ...
Amazing
I really wish they would allow you to disable the high wind warning. I regularly shoot water sports in 25knts+ and the high wind warning is irrelevant in those situations.
I agree, that’d be ideal! Or at least, really increase the trigger threshold to the point where the aircraft internally is at risk of flipping or such [insert bad thing here].
Epic! Thank you :)
Great
Great video. The Mavic 3 has a 21% better wind resistance (28 mph) compared to the Air 2S (23 mph). But subjectively do you feel that the Mavic 3 is more than 21% better than the Air 2S? Would you say it is definitely noticeably better than the Air 2S if you were to fly both drones ar the same conditions? The reason I ask is sometimes I fly in very windy conditions and if the Mavic 3 is a good amount better in high wind vs the Air 2S, I’ll buy the Mavic 3. Cheers! Subscribed!
Honestly you won't notice the difference much. Both are very very good - I could mix and match these videos and nobody would be able to tell the difference in really any of them (the single exception being Avata, due to the slight angle offset on side winds).
Great test
Wow! again! Thanks!
If it wasn't for the noise in the audio and the angry waves in the background, you wouldn't obviously see how strong the winds are! The Mavic 3 Classic is doing a heck of a job of not letting it show in the footage!
One of the best tests 😂👌
I've never felt anxiety from a video like I did watching this. Lol
Am I interested in buying a drone? No
Am I going to watch the video? ABSOLUTELY
Hello! Could you answer, does DJI solved those issues in M3 Classic? 1) Longtime satellites search, upto 2 min each flight, and GLONASS not used again 2) Raw (DNG) photos have black corners as used lens dont cover full sensor area 3) Flickering while hyperlapse, even in full manual settings (WB, shutter etc.)
All my satellite acquisition times were under 30 seconds. Looking at the .DNG files, I don't have any black corners in my photos. As for Hyperlapse, it's been too windy lately to do one (they'd turn our horrible due to the bounce). Cheers!
And the GLONASS sitch will most likely be due to political posturing so to not impact sales. Just a guess but...😉

Impressive. you teleported to outter space at 6:35
Mavic 3 classic: for when you absolutely need to fly in a wind tunnel. Great review lol
They most certainly flew prototypes in wind tunnels to refine its aerodynamic, without compromising too much on weight, ease of production and internal volume; hell Southern China dips into true tropical territory, so tropical hurricanes are definitely within consideration.
We regularly fly our mp3 thermal work for at night I've had wind speeds up 57km and gust up to 50km and 80° the Mavic still did fine it's always windy here between 20km and 34km is normal flight for us
That’s amazing!
Awesome test! This is real world because some nut will try to fly in hurricane and complain it should work.
Noordzeekanaal !
Дуже цiкаво 👍
How did it handle the elements such as sand? I’m looking to buy my first drone as a commercial security drone for a private property that is near an airport and is high Wind with lots of gusts and similar sand that is strong enough to strip paint off of vehicles and buildings at times. Temperatures get colder the higher it goes but averages 30°F -50
Tripod sandbag! B&H sells empty bag kits, but hauling a 18-27 lb sandbag on a bike would be a pain. My tripod has a hook on the center column to hold weights, but Giottos hasn't made tripods in 5+ years. I checked Manfrotto's NL site but saw no weights
Yeah, I’ve actually got them. And used them once or twice. However, I’ve since used just my backpack with a bit of extra gear in it, and it’s worked on every wind test till now. This was a beast! 🤣
Crazy :D
se la banca!!!!
Nuts
Weird banding at 5:18 - shadows of the props.
Does it have CX label?
Yup, it has a C1 label on the left front spar (mid-way on the backside of it). All Mavic 3 units got this back a few months ago.
Nice. aerosols and splashes from the ocean do not affect the internal components?
No problems with it.
So, what could happen if wind's too high? The drone just stops and crashes?
With this Mavic 3 classic available and the Air 2S just right behind it, there is no room for Air 3 now.
Are you going to participate in Egmond-Pier-Egmond? Last time it was a slugfest to get to the pier and the way back was max cadence :). No need for stayering.
Eeks - that just seems downright painful! 😂
Where is this place? Why are there no Kiteoboarders taking advantage of the awesome winds?
They are, just on the other side of the pier behind me. This is IjMuiden.
* when the "wind test pier" gets shut down for high winds* -does he go home? Oh HELL NO! Just move over one pier!
Do the range test also pls
✌
How do you think it compares to the min3pro
It’s not banding, what you have seen there where props - I suppose due to very strong wing and sports mode drone had to put itself in such angle where props got into camera. But in general that level of performance is unbelievable. I will not risk any drone in such winds myself and surprised mavic 3 handles it!
Haha...thanks man!
Is the sun casting a shadow of the propellers on the camera lens

Amazing wind speed resistance.. I'm very worried though about the salt deposits corroding the drone parts - motors, pcb, etc they go in really deep when it's that misty. Does DJI actually protect their drones against that?
A bit surprised also at the stuttery footage when in live view considering how close you were
The drones do actually have a bit of water resistance, which isn't the same as corrosion resistance of course, but I find that for the most part, I haven't had any issues with the units I've bought years ago and did tests then (at that same spot). I find just giving it a quick wipe-down afterwards helps quite a bit. Certainly I can't get into the ESC's easily, but it hasn't seemed to be an issue.
@@Dcrainmaker Great to hear that.. I also am concerned about salt crystallising in moving parts but I guess that also never happened 😌
What really insane is landing on sand in high winds. I once did this and had to spend hours to blow out all the sand out of the motors (as they got stuck). Never do this!
Haha, thankfully this was basicaly hardpack wet sand - landing up in the other areas, and I'd still be cleaning out sand today.
I like dji mini 3 size and price but is mavic 3 classic significantly better in wind resistance? Im not really concern about the camera. Would you be able to advice sir?
Check out my Mini 3 wind video to see how it handles (sport mode is still 57KPH, so not that much different): ua-cam.com/video/cFf2g9By8rI/v-deo.html
when is the active track test coming?
Just finishing up final edits on it!
@@Dcrainmaker thanks a lot
Impressive wind resistance
When will review this drone completely, especially the follow mode?
Just finishing up editing the Active Track video now, might be later today, or at worst in the morning.
@@Dcrainmaker thank you! And thank you for the quick response. Am interested to see if this comes anywhere close to the Skydio 2 for following.
Where are you? What part of the state or what state should I say? Are you in?
I live in the Netherlands, where this was filmed.
Bisa zoom berapa km ?
Mavic 3 clasic
How you are filming and talking at the same time can u explain plz is there mic in the controller?
There's no Mic in this controller, I'm wearing a seperate mic though. There is a screen recorder in the controller though, and then I manually sync it up afterwards.
@@Dcrainmaker thx u u should do a video how to do that i have search a lot of video but didnt found
Was just watching this to be able to tell whether an unknown footage was taken by a professional drone or satellite. (Or airplane)
I think the conclusion is: probably just a drone..
My anxiety would never allow me to fly my Mavic 3 in high winds, it's too much of a financial liability 😂
Is today the day Ray loses a 1500 drone? Stay tuned to find out . . . .
Seems to be the theme of many of my videos….
👍🍺
My mavic mini could never 😂
YOLO
SO IMPRESSIVE. My Inspire 2 would be useless in those sorts of conditions.
