WOW!! Great video! I’ve truly wondered about this option on the 3000. This really was wonderful to see! Thank you so much! I’m really between this radio and the ICOM 7300. What a wonderful way for someone to learn code! This may sway my vote over to the 3000!
Julio Cesar Pereira ...set the words per minute to equal (as close as you can) to the speed of the other station’s CW speed. Also, use a narrower filter to cut down on background noise. Finally, adjust the decode sensitivity using the VFO B ( small knob).
@@GhostRider1974 My hope was to find a video that tells how to set the sensitivity. I also am having trouble getting the Decode to work. I get maybe 2 out of 3 letters and then a few extra and a few wrong. Any hints?
Allen...be sure you set the words per minute close to the speed of the code being sent, then assure the signal is within the decode bandwidth. Adjust level with the aux VFO knob (the small one) to filter out false decodes. Use narrow band filter width to reduce the background noise. 73!
Well, they don't make it anymore, but I finally got one and it is on the way here. Bought it on the Dixie Traders Net. Can't wait to do the firmware update and get her up and running.
step by step ! i see you got lvl 20 up there on the screen along with a af-… and when i flip through the scope button,i do not get the cw decode window coming up like you do….so what are all the steps from ie a fresh start on the radio ?
Thanks Ghost Rider - Does the CW Decode display work for Tx as well as it does on Rx? Also, thanks for having a Southern voice ! I've lost all my Arkansas and Texas voice.
The FTDX3000 is a solid HF/6m transceiver that has the same RX hardware / circuitry as the much more expensive FTDX5000. I would think that price is fair. The 991a is also a great rig and is an all-mode rig adding 2m and 70 cm and C4FM Fusion capabilities... I know several that have those and really like them. I like to monitor 2m / 70 cm repeaters on a separate radio while working HF, so having a single all-mode rig wasn't my primary choice.
Yessir. That is like a squelch level for the CW decode function. It is adjusted with the small VFO B knob to the right-side of the radio. If this is set too low, the band noise will cause false decodes as it interferes with the received signal. Setting this higher allows more reliable decoding. Setting too high will cause the radio to filter out too much of the actual received signal. Thanks for the Q and 73!
Does this stop working once you connect the radio with USB lead, as it worked as described in your video, but now i have connected USB to PC to use a SDR as a Pan adapter the pressing of the SCOPE button just gives me a double beep from the radio.
Howdy...I have a USB connected to a computer as well for FT8; this does not stop the decode function. It may have something to do with your SDR setup. 73
FUNKY65TOWN ...Indeed, I haven’t had any trouble with it. The only annoying thing about it is that you have to switch the radio menu setting for CAT control from USB to RS232 if you using computer control or digital modes to run a tune cycle.

No wonder that code I was receiving was so good; that was W1AW (ARRL Headquarters)!! -- 73
hee hee coulda been coming out of ham radio deluxe ie and keyboard controlled !
I've just got an FTDX-3000 and have tried to decode CW unsuccesfully. Thanks for posting.

I wish they still made this radio.

I think it decides TX only, but you’ve given me another lead to check out!
Thanks for this video. Have had my FTdx3000 about a year and have not checked out this mode. Must get to the shack and check it out.
A local ham is selling one of these for $1400 at the moment. I’m thinking of getting either that or an FT991a. Either one would be great to have.

On the display screen near the right display shows "LVL 20". can you explain its use and adjustment?

That's a long transmission; it must be centered on a winlink station frequency

Great demonstration. Does the CW reader screen get bigger? Shopping hopefully for the 3000.
Howdy Steve...I’m not aware of a way to increase the CW decode screen size. Thanks for watching!
Ghost Rider thank you. I seen two other videos after yours and the screens were the same size. But not bad. The psk was pretty more condensed.
The radio has a DisplayPort for a bigger screen
Does the FT-DX3000 decode morse outside the Amateur bands?
I don’t think it is limited to the amateur bands since it is based on the received signal.
@@GhostRider1974 you will have to try it!
Μy question is if I can send CW directly from the transceiver without any key or a computer.
Kyriakos Dritsas ...I do not think that is an option.
Thinking of getting this radio or 7300, but leaning towards this radio
They are both great rigs, you won't be disappointed with either!
@Ghost Rider,is the antenna tuner YT1200 working ok on your FTDX3000 i read a lot of different stories on Eham.
Thanks for the video!... 73 PD7RL

Very good, my 3000 came with the 300hz CW filter, should I set the r.flt down to 300?
MMX2 ...should work with that or the 600 Hz filter fine.
@@GhostRider1974 thanks
Hi can you still plug a key in and send Cw and use the radio's decoder to rx or is it just for swl?
You can RX and TX with the decoder on! 73
@@GhostRider1974 Thank you for your reply 👍
Hilarious, at 2.46 he says, "this gentleman", when it's a W1AW broadcast.
Thx for that, nice demo
That's so nice! I love it
HEYYY Superace RC! Thanks for stopping by and commenting! Hope you and the fam are doing well.
Ghost Rider thanks Scott. We're doing OK. Thanks for asking. That's one heck of a radio you have there!
