    The only amazing thing about this is the fact the engine didnt smoke with bad stem seals and drop all its internals on the floor

    • @warwickstingray
      @warwickstingray 2 роки тому

      What are you on about. The internals are more than good enough for this level of power and the stem seals are a 30min job with a stem seal tool if they need doing. I only ever saw failed seals on cars running on old spec or cheap oils. They gone on for ever on modern oils at this power and if you want to run more boost than this uprated seals are available.

      @@warwickstingray nope the cvh was a horrible piece of dung. We used to dyno and build them for racing and fast road use. If you didnt upgrade their internals they destroyed themselves very quickly. The old valencia motor in fiestas was stronger.

    See 204hp in mine which consisted of bigger intercooler, ported polished big valve head done at Burton performance, standard turbo given to turbo Technics for a hybrid build bigger housing bigger impeller's, uprated actuator can't remember -55 -35 something like that, fast road bajoo Kent cam, next size injector (can't remember what they was they where supplied by the builder only thing I didn't buy), fuel king big fuel pressure regulator, full mongoose exhaust, 210mm flywheel from the S2 and uprated clutch, Drivability was still v good the fast road cam wasn't too aggressive but when stamped on would spin through 3rd gear in the dry and loved to kick out flames if it hit the limiter. I'd still have it if it wasn't for rust 😔

    Solid standard engine, piper 282t2 cam, bayjoo chip & modified fuel ecu, full magnex with 3” tailpipe, pro alloy front mount cooler, std air box with front cut off, hollowed out front bumper, -31 actuator then Ava’s metering head mod (dubious) used to go off the clock & hit the limiter in 5th.
    Last time ava ran it on their dyno
    194 bhp at the flywheel.

    Exhaust gasses look super clean. Good sign. The peak torque is at a much higher rpm than expected. Probably the short duration of the dyno pull. Is the steering wheel straight when driving in a straight line? Pet peeve of mine that makes an otherwise glorious looking S1 seem tatty. Maybe it was just on the dyno. Great car. If this is a stock engine for this car then you are putting too much power through it.
    Trust me , 200 ish bhp is a smart place to stop tuning with these old 1.6 EFi's.
    I'm not saying it wont work for a while. I have no doubt it will.. It won't be reliable though.
    PS: I know all this from my experience and some of my friends experiences back in the day.
    One of them had a XR2i with a Cosworth Turbo kit on it. It had a similar amount of power to
    your Escort on a stock 1.6EFi 230ish, It lasted about 5000 miles before it died from compression loss.

    • @chrisclarke6344
      @chrisclarke6344 2 роки тому +1

      5000 miles im amazed it lasted that long, we used to dyno these things on a engine dyno not a chassis dyno. If internals were not replaced and block 'o' ringed it would be a 1-2 thousand mile life if you were lucky. They would blow gaskets burn top of piston out or piston and or rod would exit the show. They were wretched engines in n/a form made worse by putting turbo on them.

    Like the car drove one of these back in the day, just one question why has the mileage gone from 99,475miles in March 2015 to 2133 miles in Dec 2015, and the latest MOT recorded mileage of 11,737 in May of last year??? has the car had a complete rebuild...

    • @petelattimer6808
      @petelattimer6808 2 роки тому

      the mileage goes back to zero at 100,000 miles. MOT only shows the indicated mileage on the speedo, hence why its gone to such low miles now. also, even with a complete rebuild in the UK, the mileage is what the mileage is. unless its rebuilt to current regs for safety, emissions, lights etc and re registered as a brand new car, which in itself is almost impossible, then no matter how many times you rebuild the car, it will always be a car with 1, 2, even 300,000 miles or more on them. if the family still own it, i know where theres an early Orion 1.6i Ghia with over 300,000 miles on it, thats been parked up for at least 20 years now!

    S1 rst does not have rear overiders
