Catholic Academia! Yeah, I just made that one up, but it works. Read the Holy Bible, early Church Fathers, and Thomas Aquinas; dress modestly and monastically. 😊
I’m an industrial worker, wearing an Army Field Jacket reading Conrad and marking it with a 30 year old Safari fountain pen. - What’s in your 451 kit? - I’ve written poetry, it’s about Iraq and PTSD But goths are from Gotland ! They’re tall muscular blond and sunburnt!
Chaotic and traditional dark fusion. Generally traditionally dark, but when I pursue art and writing is where I let my wild set show. Also I apparently am more suited to "cool blacks". Black shades that are slightly bluish leaning toward green. My book choices range from Mary Poppins, Neuromancer, and increasingly Westerns.
I think I hover between romantic and light academia. I would also add to your list of movies with the academia aesthetic- Call Me By Your Name. It is beautiful, dreamy, has a wonderful score and features a family into high culture. The son writes his own music, they speak multiple languages, they apreciate art and history etc.
There is a Serbian movie called "the hat professor kosta vujic " that has dark academia (might even be more light but idk) vibes when it comes to fashion, but in a core Is a comedy! It's about one of the Serbia's greatest minds (poets, scientists...) going to the same class with the same professor, Košta Vuić (his gimmick is that he has a hat for each day of the week) and literally being insufferable. It's very funny and I like rewatching it from time to time. I think you can also find it on UA-cam with subtitles! If you watch it I'd be happy to know how you like it! 💗 Anyway, great video! I really enjoyed listening to your stiyle analysis and can't wait to see more stuff from you! 💕
In that case, I have a section about Theater Academia in my part 2 of Dark Academia video in my channel. It would be wonderful to hear some insights or perspectives from a Theater professor regarding this topic. Thanks for watching, btw!
Lovely video! I am very much a theatre & art academia person because I work and study (Master's) those fields! A book I would add in the dark academia section would be Babel by R. F. Kuang.
Love it... Nicely done. I'm an occultist who loves gothic Victorian era Aesthetic and ancient symbolism and knowledge. Bit of a maximalist as well i'd say
I saw these substyles and thought like "oh I'm not so cultured or reading books for this classic dark academia maybe chaotic academia will suit me especially with my character" AND THEN IT TURNS OUT TO BE EVERYDAY COLLEGE STUDENT- I got so charmed by outfits of overall dark academia style but it probably won't fit me much with my character but the only suitable turns out to be just a college student There's even no fountain pen in section of items im sorry??????
This was so sweet I loved the inner details of the different academia although I'd really like to see more of the dark academia although I do appreciate the gothic.
Great, some more moulds we can pour ourselves into… just read literature, read the classics, watch art house movies and the classics, study, go to university, practice a sport, go to the theatre, visit museums, galleries, libraries… culture yourself, expand your horizon… there is no need to turn yourself in a walking cosplay character
Hi I'm born in 2009 and am from Asia likes k-pop mainly txt and have watched some anime and loves to draw anyone from this academia aesthetic wanna friends with me
Firstly let me say you did a great job with this video. For me personally I think all this combination of different things revolving or obsessing around fashion is getting ridiculous. For instance you can pick anything & choose some clothes that compliment it then by some miracle WOW a new aesthetic. Is it just me or is that strange.
For me, it's like people are trying to find new things that resonate more with their values or what they enjoy. The reason that they name the new combination could be that they are also seeking other people who can understand them and connect with them. Sure, there are other ways to create a community or connect with people but visuals are one of the easy way to do so. I think it's rather interesting to see how things change and evolve through time.
@@kjrasa Yeah I know what you're saying. I just think so much is revolving around fashion especially after 2010. It's becoming more and more of an obsession over an aesthetic. Even if that's the case people don't have to combine it with other things and then make up a new title to name it. That's what's weird about it for me anyway
I am living for these academia sub-aesthetics 😂 Closest one to my current postgraduate lifestyle is definitely chaotic. And I agree it has become ever so problematic. Most if not all lecturers, especially who do research and supervise grad students (these are the real academics imo) realistically have no time to build an aesthetic lifestyle. They're overworked (another thing dark academia romanticizes), often working on weekends and doing research during semester breaks. They're forced to engage in a rather petty and elitist bid to secure a grant. They're pressured to publish research papers to maintain their scholarly index. I saw a comment someone made just recently; "Dark academia? Everyday is dark when you're in academia" 😂 so yeah we should take the academia aesthetics with a grain of salt.
Which academia aesthetic is your fav?
Dark acamedia for sure!
@@srebrooo same dark is such a classic
I like chaotic academia. Can you do STEM academia and art academia sometime? I would like that.

As a goth dark acadamia holds a small place in my heart, its just so classy looking and I love a style thats dedicated to education.
It's dedicated to the IDEA of education.
LMAO "goth"
Aka Vampire Cosplay
@@CanadianPhinsFan853no it’s not cosplay it’s a way of showing their identity and ideas through the outfit
Romantic academia is my favorite, something about being scholarly and being pretty in pink just hits different
I find it quite interesting as well. Normally, you wouldn't expect pink and academic styles together. But the combination looks so unique!
Maybe I'm a mix of chaotic academia and dark academia, but i love the vibes of the gothic academia
"Studying at night because you were procrastination during the day" what's more relatable than this line to a High school - college student?
Thank you for introducing me to the concept of chaotic academia, which has always been my style, especially for enterior decoration.
I wanna pull off dark or goth academia since I love the goth style but honestly chaos academia sounds so damn cool and probably fits me better
i love darkest academia thank you for clarifying the difference between dark and darkest academia!
Witchy Academia and Grunge Academia are very interessting. 🕯 📖

Mix them all and that would be my personal aesthetic ❤
My dream wardrobe is cottage core and academia/ dark and light.
The movie "Oppenheimer" is another great must watch
Love this! Please do an episode on 'Theater Academia' as I am a Theater Professor!

I'll be looking forward to the video around the other academia you have mentioned 😁

I love everything you talk about on your channel. When you talk about specific group activities I can't help myself to think I need new friends 🙃

Glad you enjoy this! I can't promise you about the coquette aesthetic right now but I will try researching more about it. ♡
Happy to know you like this vid!
Very enjoyable. I would love to hear more!
If you like anime and or manga Moriarty the Patriot is probably the most Dark Academia manga I've read besides Black Butler
Wonderful!!
I think all of Anne Rice's works would fit the Gothic Academia reading list.
I think I’m a mix of dark academia, gothic academia and chaotic academia
i think oppeheimer might become an academia movie too lolll idk which tho- maybe chaotic?
Im intrigued with STEM academia...how can that aesthetics be?
Another dark academic movie is The Covenant (2006).
Thank you for such a great video
You're welcome! Thanks for being here.
Don’t forget Isak Dinesen’s tales.

Academia not akhademia 😂
But if someone is a certain aesthetic, they wouldn't need to be told what to buy, where to go, and what to enjoy.
Ooh ooh, I know, you're the ostentatious one who's probably put superficial aesthetic over actual academics. DA is based on superficial pretension 😂
Dark Academia just means the person does not have a higher education.
Do Artist academia!
