I avoided strolling because I assumed it was just an FFS technique. After watching the last video tutorial all about strolling, I decided to give it a shot for late fall smallmouth on the St. Croix River. Couldn’t believe I hooked up on my first cast! No electronics needed! Thanks for opening my eyes to this technique!
This old dog has learned a new trick. Started strolling last year and I love it. I don’t have ffs and I have been very successful. Bought into the rods reels and tackle. Love my Raid Gladiator Max Queen with stinger tip.😎❤️🎣👍
Just caught my pb smallmouth strolling. No ffs or other electronics. I was covering water on a grass line next to a river channel. Ended up catching 16 fish on a bluebird post frontal do nothing day on the same bait. It’s amazing how well it works.
One tip I've learnt is instead of tying direct, use a snap instead. Particularly that kind with an oval loop. That strolling action will be emphasised a while lot more as you twitch your rod tip.
I was wondering how you guys prepped your boat for winter fishing or if you have ever made a video on it? I really appreciate the commitment to a video every day.
Have you guys tried the Keitech Shad Impact for this? They have the right flat sided shape and a lot of colors. I was considering ordering some to try, but wanted your opinion first.
I've already started to get in the technique take your very much for showing me how to do that with the soft plastic beads like those yes I have a open face with you and to be cashier I could do that technique you or guys are pretty good fisherman I like me
Tim and Matt, for us bank anglers what do you think of fishing a midstrolling minnow and jighead under a float, like a float 'n fly? Do you think the traditional float 'n fly with fluttering marabou is still better under a float?
I'd say marabou would still be your best option. You'd have to find the perfect float for every head size to get just the right bob to get the bait rocking. I'm not saying it couldn't be done, but it would be a huge project.
I really enjoyed this video on strolling! I learned a lot about this popular technique! Why did you mention the Japanese technique with 90 degree jig hook with nail nose weight or Core Tackle’s Hover rig?
A cheaper alternative to the BR Head by DUO is the 3" Yum FFS Minnow with a 1/16 oz jig head. It's not perfect, but with a soft tip rod and light line it will do a very similar action while not sinking as hard.
I tried the rolling strolling head and I felt the action was not what I expected. Have yall tried the cast echo? I’d love to see some of their stuff on here.
Which one of those longer baits has the best action similar to a multi joint swimbait on a steady faster retrieve? I know one looks great fished fast but I forget which one.
Oh, there is no question where its inspiration came from, but the final product has a different action/consistency. We're Spunk Shad fanatics but for strolling, they're uniquely different.
Call me crazy, but I think us bank anglers can do "modified" mid-strolling under a float. Maybe we cannot impart the same exact shake and quiver, but as an ice angler for a few months each year I think anglers often impart too much action when vertical jigging. Under a float away from the bank, that should NOT be a problem.

People have been doing this since the day the first man fished. It was first called twitching and it was a panfish technique.
I dive head first into all rabbit holes , can’t tell ya how much appreciate you guys doin this everyday !!!!!!
Thank you Justin. We appreciate you too!
@ absolutely an always boyz

Thanks for sharing!!
So freaking stoked that you guys did a Strolling buyers guide!!!!🎣 I have caught a dozen or so with my bait just hanging off the bow of my kayak!! 😂
The Berkley Champ Minnow is another very very good strolling bait, definitely overlooked
Great technique. I grew up throwing this in the SoCal harbors for halibut and spotted bay bass
Best strolling jighead & bait combo is the megabass okashira & strike king baby-z 3.5 minnow
Been using the strolling technique for crappie for years. So much so that I don’t realize I’m doing it until I’m unhooking a crappie 😂
No wonder why we always catch nice bass when we’re crappie (speck) fishing down
Great video guys I have to get into strolling I haven't really fished in that way
So the cool thing I have found out is that the strolling baits are opening up more trailers for Scrounger heads
That’s how I feel. I feel like my scrounger heads have a the action they are talking about just by retrieving.
@@trentfranks4507the strolling technique is more finesse than a scrounger head. Sometimes that plays a huge deal
Thanks!
No problem!
Can't wait to try strolling for snakehead🤔
Yessir this is the one i was waiting on i will watch it later!

Smoke them on goby but i dont talk about it

Woo #25😂😂 love your videos guys!
Hey Guys awesome video! Will you guys do a dedicated BFS eventually?
Yes 👍🏼
Looking forward to trying out the mooch minnow from crush city when they release

I’m sure it will work, I’ve done it plastic hellgramites for smallmouth.

Great video. You guys left out what jigheads you use with the 7in armor shad. Could you share that please.
I have a dinner nephew that is still a little but when he gets older I am going to show him some good techniques that you show me 👶🏻🧒🏻
I really enjoyed this video on strolling! I learned a lot about this popular technique! Why did you mention the Japanese technique with 90 degree jig hook with nail nose weight or Core Tackle’s Hover rig?
Thanks for all the work guys. What do you think of the stroll shads on a stealth chatterbait as far as hunting action goes.
AMAZING!!!
No Jackall Drift Fry?? That's the best one!
Matt cracks me up. I wanna see how many rods are on the deck of his boat? Lol ever video he says I got this on the deck of my boat year around.
He secretly fishes from an aircraft carrier. I imagine a scene like from the original Matrix movie, “I need fishing rods, lots of fishing rods”
A cheaper alternative to the BR Head by DUO is the 3" Yum FFS Minnow with a 1/16 oz jig head. It's not perfect, but with a soft tip rod and light line it will do a very similar action while not sinking as hard.
I just picked up a pack for 4 bucks yesterday. You prefer a
Regular ball head or a “strolling”
Specific head?
Have you tried the Jackall drift fry?
Would the nrx +852s be able to throw the strolling baits and heads
Have you ever tried using the Megabass P5 Flyssa for this technique?
Yes, but the length makes it a bit cumbersome.
If you think these baits are good for freshwater, try them in the kelp beds for calico bass, slay all day on a darter head.
Have you guys messed with the X10 Medusa yet? I’ve heard good things about it.
I tried the rolling strolling head and I felt the action was not what I expected. Have yall tried the cast echo? I’d love to see some of their stuff on here.
Yes, we've used it. There aren't many baits in this category we haven't purchased and tried.
@ appreciate that. The baits are highly marketed around me at Lake Lanier bait shops.
Gonna take a Green Sturgeon for a stroll later.
Which one of those longer baits has the best action similar to a multi joint swimbait on a steady faster retrieve? I know one looks great fished fast but I forget which one.
7" damiki will do ya
@ that’s it. I saw the advertisement video a while back and couldn’t remember which one.
Oh boy!
Shimano Exprides seem to be sold out on backorder, is there a model you would recommend in the Zodias line? Thanks!
In the Zodias, the closest you're going to get is the 6'9" Medium. It's not a solid tip, but it does a great job. Here's a direct link: bit.ly/2jOUXAO
Is this a spinning rod only technique?
Keitech should do 4.8 fat swing minnow😂
lol yall woudl put this out the day after i bought a bunch of strolling stuff.
love the info but bummed that most of these recommended rods/reels are from brands that are exempt from the black friday month sales
These ARE on sale. Just add to cart and you’ll see the sale price
@raytubach8988 when I add shimano rods they don't work. Also the fine print says they don't
The discount shows up after you checkout. If not, cancel the order.
@@Stormraishin sorry, slag7362 has the answer. 👍🏻
I knew I did it, I just wasn’t clear on the whole deal…

Shoots!
Does anyone do this for walleye 😅😅 😮
😎🎣❤️
Hey Matt the crush city freeloader is a rip off of the Hogfarmer bait.
Wait….are you suggesting that a lure company COPIED a successful lure from another company??!!!!!!
@@squonto47wait till they hear about the Googan x 6th sense drama 😂
Idk pretty similar but the hog farmer bait is round and the other has flat sides so
Oh, there is no question where its inspiration came from, but the final product has a different action/consistency. We're Spunk Shad fanatics but for strolling, they're uniquely different.
How about one for bank and pond fishers. Not everyone goes around with a boat under their arse.
I fish from the bank

Me too I caught a ton strolling this summer it works
