      @Chosen One Not really. What happens if dictatorship or a power hungry government suddenly rules a system and then sets off a military campaign? (Say the Zygerrians) and they have their own fleet of starships. The New Republic will be screwed

      @Chosen One Look what happen to The New Republic at Episode 7. After The First Order used Starkiller base destroyed the Republic Senate and MAJORITY of the Starfleet, the galaxy was fucked. Several star systems fell with little to no resistance since it's every planet on it's own. Unlike the Republic fleet that covers the entire galaxy, the local defense systems only cover their own system.

    • @petera.michaelsen4657
      @petera.michaelsen4657 4 роки тому +54

      @Chosen One those were not armies, those were scavenged ships and mostly regular people, there were 0 large cruisers to fight the Final Order, mostly cargo ships and modified frigates.
      If the new republic would’ve had a well fortified Star fleet the First Order would’ve never won, watch how a single Star destroyer took over an entire planet, that’s how weak the New Republic was.

    • @intramentalstudios5573

      lol if these ships parked in a stable orbit (to remove much need for engines to stay 'afloat' at an appropriate inclination the star ships would taken years or never crashed back into the surface. they could prob wait till after the war was over and still have time to go up and salvage the wrecks

    • @Vasim122
      @Vasim122 6 років тому +59

      Well, it really depends on what maneuvers they do. If they simply change orbits during the fight - they won't fall to surface for eons even with engines disabled. But if they slow down below orbital speed (to keep themselves above specific point of surface, for example) and keep themselves on choosen altitude in case their battle maneuvers require to - they may fall.

    The Empire really does suffer from an acute lack of aggression in space. In all of your videos so far they could have carried the day by just using their size and superior firepower to bull their way into the enemy and attack key targets, but every time they seem to sit passively and let things happen to them.

    • @thalmoragent9344
      @thalmoragent9344 Рік тому +33

      True, they assume their presence and power is enough to handle the day, not proper tactics.

      The Tarkin Doctrine at its finest.
      "Why actually have strategy, when you can just be big and scary? Never mind having a military that's prepared, competent, AND capable - in the event your enemies *aren't* intimidated into submission. Just keep being bigger, scarier, and more powerful/threatening than anyone else around! Trust me bro, I guarantee it'll work!
      There's no way the entire concept could possibly backfire or fall apart in practice, by making you such an evident threat that your enemies feel *compelled* to take you down at all costs - purely out of necessity for their own survival! Nah, just keep trying to scare them with big, pointy-shaped warships, and moon-sized, planet-destroying disco balls. Trust me, everything'll work out just fine!" -Grand Moron Weedhuff Tarkin to Emperor Steve Plantain, Circa 14 BBY
      (Seriously, though: The man single-handedly did more to cripple the Empire than the Rebellion could have ever hoped to without him, purely by convincing Palpatine that "Fear = ez W".)

    I heard that the Empire did not end at Jakku with the First Order becoming its successor in the unknown regions, but rather an Imperial remnant remains centered around the core worlds, with the New Republic mainly in the mid and outer rim. Granted, new canon in general is still muddled but that is what I heard the "Galactic Concordance" was all about.

    Even with all the nebulas that were sent to jakku and also (like you said) they housed HUNDREDS of sd's which in my opinion is outrageus. Even no matter how big a fleet of rebellion ships go there to "investigate" how did they win cause 1 nebula must contain at least 1-200 sd's which even if there were like 5 is already too strong. At least in my opinion.
    Probably cause of all the Starhawks
    How did the rebellion even win in battlefront 2, or am I thinking of the wrong jakku battle?

    Wait, Battle of Jakku is just one year four days after Endor? That's....a lot sooner than I thought, with the notes being made about how the low morale Imperial troops suffered. Also NR having bleeding edge technology sounds like complete BS. How did an insurgent group that had to literally steal to arm themselves suddenly gained control of the highest possible tech that the Empire can't already replicate? Also OP tractor beam aside, does SSD not come with repulsorlifts any more?

    • @chrissonofpear3657

      Supposedly by uprisings, defections and capture of hardware...

    • @weberman173
      @weberman173 6 років тому +8

      also "bleeding Edge" is kinda overstating.. the ISD Design was nearly 20+ Years old at the Battle ofJakuu, the SSD around 5... the Technology could be from like 2 Yeasr ago and it woudl still be bleeding edge in comparison tothe Empires

    • @danielkorladis7869
      @danielkorladis7869 6 років тому +8

      Because stealing technology was always a high priority in the Rebel Alliance, starting with their starfighters. Additionally, there was little opportunity for advancement in the Empire for non-humans, so the Imperial Navy largely missed out on the talents of designers who were from other species.

    • @tommyjackson5570
      @tommyjackson5570 6 років тому +8

      After the NR starts winning across the galaxy (Paldora mentions just how badly the Empire is on the run), tech companies that always sympathized with the rebels, or even the elite that don’t necessarily but sense which way the wind is blowing, would start flocking over to their camp. According to the Darth Vader comics, the Empire had at least 3 SDs within a year of Revenge of the Sith - is it outside of the realm of possibility that a significant portion of a galaxy’s worth of elite, the motivation of a war, and the same amount of time could give the NR at least 3 Starhawks in a year? The Empire had the whole galaxy instead of having a divided intellectual sphere, yes, but the war against the separatists holdouts impacted the galaxy roughly zero in terms of wartime versus peacetime - and war tech always increases exponentially faster in times of war

    • @AnakinSkyobiliviator
      @AnakinSkyobiliviator 6 років тому

      Perhaps in term of a usual government system, the aspect that war tech stagnates over peacetime would be accurate, but as the Empire has a significant focus on the military to maintain the galaxy, its tech is bound to improve over the years - though admittingly, as you implied, - albeit slower. But even with the major companies of Rebel sympathizers flowing over to the NR at the end of the war, to think that R&D being done for some bleeding edge tech over a year that even things like the highly funded Imperial Department of Military Research - who built the death star - can't even match is just out there for me. For comparison, it's like General Electric suddenly exceeding DARPA in an arms race in 5 years.

    What I don’t understand is how the new republic had almost complete control of the galaxy and they had the edge over the empire in every direction but lost that lead and ended up being able to fit inside the millennium falcon at full numbers, the demilitarized army basically set them up to loose another war

      There was no mention of the New Republic fleet in the movies, but we can expect that a good part of it was destroyed together with the Hosnian system. However, I don't remember them mentioning that the Hosnian system was the seat of the New Republic Government either. I guess I either missed that or it was cut out with the scenes that played there.

    Thank you for explaining this in a way that we can understand the most important take-away, which is that the people who write the Star Wars novels and those who code the games have absolutely NO grasp of basic orbital mechanics. "Grabbed by Jakku's gravity?" SERIOUSLY? The gravity was present the entire time. If a ship is in orbit and its engines are disabled, it will tend to remain in orbit. Why would ANY part of the fight happen inside atmosphere? Also, why do all the space battles read like retellings of Midway, Coral Sea, or Leyte Gulf, with an occasional dose of Jutland? Magical priests and powers are fine (it's a swords-and-sorcery fantasy, NOT science fiction, after all) but if you're going to include starships, you can't just violate the simplest precepts of physics on a lazy writing whim.

Then Game over, if one of them gets to it they would have to deal with a well defended interdictor cruiser (Or try escaping it) bringing the time needed for the other groups to reinforce it and terminate the flagship.
