    I first came across DIYs using diffraction grating film on TikTok. This included "magic" resin molds which create pieces with iridescence that don't require glitter or paint. Then I saw several videos on UA-cam featuring holographic chocolate. So I decided to test out everything that can be poured into a mold in liquid form. The results were quite hit and miss but I did get a few very aesthetic pieces out of it. I'm surprised there aren't more commercially available products that use this effect, or people who sell magic molds. From my research, there are only a few very small indie sellers who offer diffraction resin molds. I'd love to try making my own molds for an upcoming video so there isn't an issue of the diffraction film getting stuck.

    I remember seeing Cristine and Ben from simplynailogical do this!
    From what I remember, whenever they tried to peel the film and chocolate apart, it would not produce the shiny holographic effect but if the chocolate and the film started to separate by itself and formed a pocket of air between the film and chocolate, by gently pushing around the air pocket to release the chocolate and film, it created a super shiny holographic effect!
    My theory is that by peeling apart the film and chocolate, it may be too harsh and may not transfer the texture perfectly so when it is done more gently, the texture is transferred better

    Making a silicone mold out of the foil will work, the silicone picks up the texture perfectly and can easily transfer it to other materials. Ive seen other youtubers (evan and katelyn) do it before

    There are tiny lines on the paper that are 2 microns apart. We can't see anything less than 35 microns. I learned this from Ann Reardon's video about the holographic chocolate.

    the way to use this method is to use the film to create the texture in a silicone mold, as in transferring it to the silicone. that way you can transfer it to other things without the risk of the film sticking. i think evan and katelyn used that method

The first is from How To Cook That and goes over the details of working with chocolate and what tempering actually is, explained in a friendly manner that is easy to understand. Also explaining a few methods for tempering, one quite simple and similar to what you used, but more specific. The second video is from Evan And Katelyn and goes over their attempts, and successes, in making holographic resin, and the molds they used to make them.

    I wonder if the chocolate would work if you mixed it with coconut oil🤔. Coconut oil makes chocolate really smooth and pourable. I don't know if this would actually work better or not, but I know it at least makes chocolate easier to use!

  • @blargblossom
    @blargblossom 2 роки тому

    Maybe someome has already sad that but you can make a mold that has the texture of the transfer film and then anything with made with that mold will also produce the holo refraction. That would work better with resin because there would be no foil to get stuck. Also, the problem with your chocolates is probably because you didn't temper them. Candy melts (and stuff called compound chocolate) are made for melting down and resolidifying. Regular chocolate will not resolidify nicely if you don't temper it. It'll be grainy and dull like the milk chocolate you used.

    And all you need to do in order to make holographic resin is make a new custom mold utilizing the film and make a mold of the film and them you should be able to cast whatever you'd like although you'll have to be super careful otherwise you'll damage to effect of the holo if your not careful with it while making the mold
