They are beautiful but, for this flyer (I lease the aircraft), it has been horrific. It has spent more time in the shop than in the hangar. I feel like KodiakMD (Amir), as the owner and I have been tortured by continuous problems only met with terrible customer service. Truthfully, most of it relates to Austro and less with Diamond. However, they are essentially one at this point in time and should be ashamed of their performance. The plane is a 2021 model, flown 250h per year (would have been 300+ easily if the plane was available), and has been plagued by engine/paint/decal/ECU failure/camshaft sensor problems from day 1. Both engines were replaced at the end of year 1 with inferior ones. Now one engine needs new pistons (yes all new pistons). In between, there have been 3-5 cam shaft sensor failures grounding the plane multiple times. A glow plug sensor failure occurred in Telluride leaving me stranded. I wouldn't recommend any Diamond using an Austro engine until they figure out QC issues.
Holy shit. I've flown a few different DA62 S/N and it's the first time i hear something that bad. You are unlucky AF mate.
@@guillaumefuentes3184 talk w mechanics. Since diamond purchased Austro engine problems have been rampant.
Are those ECU fail CAS messages after landing? Can’t really make out what they say.
Yikes. I wonder if the expereince is better in the DA50 with the Continental engine. Too few of those around as of today.
@@roberts4515 Typically before either after start or during runup. Not after landing.
I fly one regularly - better hope you dont have engine issues. Austro was a pain to deal with. Great machine when it is not in the shop.
100%. Best performance/efficiency is 16.5-17.5. I’ve gone to FL190 a few times but come back to 17k get 188-190 kts TAS on 82% load. Have seen 196 at 15k around 92% load.
@@wilzboyz we dont have too many long legs so I rarely go into O2 land but those are nice performance numbers.
It is amazing how much light inside the cockpit, and the dashboard is impressive how they arranged instruments ,so well done, it looks like you are driving a sport car! very good looking plane Rich, thanks for sharing.
Id be worried about that oil pressure discrepancy between engines.
Nope, it's normal as long as it's in the green in flight conditions and the oil consumption is below .1 liter/hour
It fluctuates more than id be comfortable with, lycoming or contis dont fluctuate that mych unless worn@@guillaumefuentes3184
Look at both coolant temp and oil temps for the lower oil pressure engine, both a tick higher.. @@guillaumefuentes3184
With that sort of fuel economy it can't be beaten. $6000 saving over 100 hours flying time compared to a Baron. Nice video Rich.
Still hoping you'll pay a visit to Mark at Skywagon for a podcast one day!
Looks like a very comfortable platform with beutiful Garmin instruments...
Seems to have some unhappy owners/flyers over maintenance support. Is this why the current owner is selling ?
Thx Rich
Not to my knowledge.
The one engine with the lower oil pressure, also seems to be running a tick hotter in both coolant temp and oil temps, look at the gauges while in flight, youll see it..
17:06 sick shot with this sleek looking aeroplane, the two cloud layers and the sun...
DA 62 is wondeful, and the must quality !
No joke, best video out there on these.
Thank you!
Yay!
I have followed your videos for more than 18 months, and I feel confident with your recommendation. My tentative plans are to visit a friend in Long Beach and make an appointment with you at your convenience.
Quite a bit of time for 4 years old.... Also good luck ever finding a hangar for that thing
If only it was pressurized 😢 Perfect xcountry twin.
I want to see a twin commander or velocity XL.
Amazing pilot rich!
Cool, you added a new type rating!
Timeline of six to nine months.
👍
👍🏻
Looks like you might have hit some wake on the approach? Beautiful aircraft.
Definitely!
Genius!!!! Beautiful aircraft !!!! ☝🏼☝🏼👍🏼👍🏼🦾🦾🧿🧿👨🏼✈👨🏼✈
